CURRENT AUROR SCHEMES & RESPONSE TO MISDEEDS
Getting Everyone on the Same Page

I hadn't done one of these plot threads in a while. Felt like it was time. ;-) Shout out to all the Auror characters out there! The wiki seems a little out-of-date, so just touching base so we all know who is working on what, see it all in one thread, and do some fun plot talkin'?

I've hunted down plots that seem to be active. This is all prospective. So lets add and update this sucker! IC Raynor is supposed to be responsible for coordinating all of this stuff, so I'd love you all forever. Hehe.

ACTIVE INVESTIGATIONS

RUNESPOORS REVISITED: MINISTRY CORRUPTION

WIKI PLOT PAGE

Case # RCMC-MLE TBA
Briefing: On 21 December 1994 the lead investigator on Runespoor Smuggling Operations in the UK, Tait Aldridge, was tortured and murdered in cold blood for his involvement in the investigation. The perpetrator was never discovered and homicide investigation remained a Cold Case for over fifteen years. In late 2008, Runespoor Activity that had run rampant in the middle-east once again was trickling its way into England. On January 02, 2009 the Ministry of Magic received evidence that Tait Aldridge's murderer, known only as 'The Irish Man' might be involved with the resurgence. By mid-2009, investigators Jonas Trevelyan and Adon Eleor had operations running back to the desert, but they uncovered conspiracy ties with their own Ministry of Magic that might have gotten Aldridge killed in the first place. In early 2010, new information on Aldridge's death came to light, reopening that aspect of the case. On March 13, 2010 the Irish Man revealed himself to Jonas Trevelyan, in England to try and establish smuggling operations once more before his Egyptian employers get involved personally.

Aurors: Jonas Trevelyan, Tamis Raynor
Others: Charisma Aldridge, Niobe Thursby
Criminals: Richard Burke as The Irish Man

Due to its conspiracy ties, Raynor is playing aspects of this investigation close to the chest. Currently no one outside Trevelyan, Alridge, possibly Fauna Blake?, and herself are aware the Auror's Office is investigating an internal corruption. It'd be lovely if the DoM suspected and put heat on the Aurors. Link to Conspiracy details in-depth: LINK. Jonas could use a field partner on this case.

CORPUS INVERTUS MURDERS

WIKI PLOT PAGE

Case # MLE Ψ-22ℵ4△J-9Ж
Briefing: The summer of 2009, two Cursebreakers retrieved an unusual artifact from a Wizengamot member; a goblin-made Harvest Mask. Shortly after, the Wizengamot member was discovered diseased, a subject of a heinous crime. His corpse had been inverted. There was no sign of the mask. A wizard and a young girl have been discovered since, Investigators coming to terms with the fact that their case is Serial. A goblin was discovered murdered in Gringotts. This investigation is high profile, drawing not only the Public eye, but also the intent of Level One, given its political ramifications with the Goblins.

Aurors: Archer Radley, Jonas Trevelyan
Others: Cameron Rosier, Raziel Cohen
Criminals: ?

DEMENTORS DEMENTING

PLOT DISCUSSION

Case # MLE TBA
Briefing: Mid-March 2010, Dementors have been inexplicably reappearing in the United Kingdom, not having been seen in these quantities since they were removed as Azkaban Prison guards in the late 1990s. Their movements seem to be random, seeking out Witches and Wizards across the country. The ability to produce a Patronus Charm is an entry-level requirement to the Corps as it is used as a means of communication between Aurors. As such, the Ministry of Magic is utilizing the Aurors to help respond to Dementors and conduct "patrols" to try and placate the Wizarding Public. Sharing jurisdiction with the RCMC, 'Catastrophes, and the IMC, the Aurors are not-so-much concerned with eradicating the Dementor problem, but discovering if there is a Dark Wizard/Magic influencing their return.

Attacks thus far:

March 08 -- Two Prewett brothers were attacked, Berwick-Upon-Tweed in Northumberland, they remain in St. Mungo's in deplorable condition.

March 15 -- Aisling Knight on her way back to the Ministry. Doesn't seem like it was reported? Probably unknown to the Aurors Office

March 16 -- Tamis Raynor & Cináed Tawse in Muggle London. In progress. Tawse will not be detained.

March 18 -- The Black Chimaera, undisclosed, unknown location. Likely will not request Ministry assistance & will remain unknown. Will be funny to read how they get themselves out of the pickle. In progress.

March 20 -- Walton Dodd & Jordyn Dimbleby. Hogsmeade. In Progress.

Aurors: All

What now?

These are the current, active cases I am aware of. If I'm missing an investigation that is active and folks are and/or want to continue persuing, let's add it. Similarly, if you're not involved in an investigation but want to be, lets brainstorm one up! This goes for criminal characters and those looking for the Aurors to be nosy about something as well! Lets cause some mayhem and if you want to get in the heat of trouble, lets make it possible for as many people as possible :-)

Up-and-coming and some possible Cases:

WBA RESURGENCE Wiki Article Here. I'm going to call on Mai to clarify just how much the Aurors know about this organization at this point in the game. From personal memory: they know its organized, a purist-lead terrorist group, that Tawse is involved if not its leader, and is responsible for a handful attacks on the Ministry; including the murder of MLE Head Gawain Robards. They're up to some plotting goodness & Raynor is crossing paths with Tawse so this may be a major conflict, soon.

Previous Aurors involved: Tamis Raynor (Tawse's Parole Officer), Archer Radley (Senior Auror in Charge of the investigation), Adon Eleor

GRINDLEWALD & WWII PLOTTING. Aurors working on this: Harry Potter?

THE BUDDY SYSTEM

In the past, we've come up with Auror Partners. You don't always work the same cases together, but usually. And always have the other's back. Do we like this? Want to keep this? Do we want to pick our partners OCC? Or would you rather have me IC as Raynor assign them without OOC input? This could be fun, too. Your partner doesn't have to be a perfect fit, it can be fun if you're not. Edward Pratt is notorious for giving Raynor headaches by burning through partners left and right -- and no one wants Bailey.

TRAINEES

Are things interesting enough? Do you feel engaged? Ideas and suggestions on this front?

AUROR GROUP THREAD

This I think is overdue! I want Raynor to address the Corps as a whole in some fashion. We've done the 'lets have a party' threads and standard 'lets all sit around a table' threads always putter out and are a chore to write. Not to mention, we're Aurors. Shouldn't be doing anything the standard way! Suggestions? Maybe a team building simulation? Raynor arranges them all to get dumped somewhere where they have to work together to get out of it? She's underhanded and manipulative like that. Patronus charm practice? This needs more brainpower! lol

RECOGNITIONS

Go along with the group thread, probably. Raynor plans to promote Zora Roh to Senior Auror for her achievements over the past couple of years. Anyone else interested in a plotline like this? There's a couple other Aurors who could be recognized for achievements, but only if its something you want for your character as the writer.

Raynor's Order of Merlin: Tease her. At will. She can take it. I believe Sarah and I were talking about how to go about making this something interesting. The idea behind honoring her was to try and shine some positive light on Zephyr's administration. Maybe a press conference or some sort of event is held? Something any criminal sorts or opposing political forces might like to disrupt to make a statement? Willing to feed it to the wolves as plot fodder!

Some other periphery matters that can easily be wrapped up too:

Campaign for the Flying Car (plot discussion) - the auror's least favourite Department Head has his car taken for a fly by that weird portrait painter guy (you remember, the one who painted Bathilda Bagshot naked and got it hung in a Diagon Alley window while she did her tour of the UK all those years ago?) Turns out he thinks flying cars are a good thing for Britain, only a load of Muggles saw him fly that one...

Missing plants and er... pants which has Fauna and Cooper involved from what I can glean.

Aidan Renwick plot from Cooper/Jager

Werewolf fighting ring never quite got wrapped up, but was meant to have been been discovered and raided in early 2010 with narrow escapes and perhaps some spectators arrested.

Some foreigners got lightfingered at the museum - required some spell flinging from aurors, and help from a cursebreaker. It is quite plausible that because those in question are family members of high up Ministry back home, that they were unfortunately deported back home, without their stolen goods, rather than faced trial in Britain, owing to pressure from DIMC. This probably has thoroughly annoyed MLE.

Meanwhile the aurors mucked up Godrics Hollow graveyard which MAC are furious about, well, when Edwin's not distracted by Admete keeping paintbrushes tucked down her top. Edwin's always on hand to give MLE a bit of a hairdryer moment by telling them off.

An international trader and his customer have an argument which results in dark magic cutting off some legs. Collaboration with Omari from the aurors and Johann from DIMC in progress to try and find the culprit.

Lawrence§ was let out at the start of February, and was convicted and sent to Azkaban from being an auror during the occupation, owing to his willingness to aide the occupation and some other dodgy things relating to it. He's told the press he's a reformed character, yet he's lurked in Admete's front garden and berated her for being a coward, and hassled Maurice Holmes (Minister's aide) and is also schmoozing Lucius Malfoy into taking up the pureblood ways. He was set up to be a disposable criminal, but he's ended up a bit more of a longer game.

That said, I am not averse to creating entirely disposable secondaries who live for one thread of exciting curse/dark magic/ridiculous drama and ending in an arrest for you all. I've had a few weird ideas noted, from Muggle police reporting cars that mysteriously vanish while being pursued, to them flying in the air - a light-fingered wizard (pursuit on brooms?), to controlling people with imperio, to arrest attempts that go from straight forward to volatile. And variations of.

While not disposable, I'd just want to bring up my secondary Gan Shaozu may be in Britain for an impromptu visit. The reason why he's applicable to this is because he's the Chief Auror of the Chinese Auror Corps. I'm up for throwing him at anyone, trainees, aurors, to talk to (although you may have to grab Adrianna first to convince him to speak English).

At this point, I'd say the Ministry has a fairly good understanding of the basics about the WBA.  I'm sure they know there are individuals gathering and committing anti-Ministry and/or anti-muggle terrorist acts.  They, obviously, know Cinaed's involved.  Though the WBA views themselves to be leaderless, I could definitely see how the Ministry either misperceives Cinaed as being the leader or, more accurately, understand he's a prominent organizer.

I'm certain they know of the skull insignia of the WBA and they've (I'm sure) guessed that they're anti-muggle. They obviously know the old Black Chimeara was a frequent meeting spot for WBA members but, as it was not an exclusive venue, it would be hard to guess or assume whether any individual patron was WBA.

Cinaed and Jonas have had a number of conversations so the Ministry might know a few more details, depending on what Jonas would have reported or documented.  I'd have to leave it to Sparky to elaborate, though, as most of the conversations have been off the record.

Beyond WBA stuff, there was the recent disappearance/murder of Charlie Robards and potentially his mother/Gawain Robard's widow.  This was potentially related to the werewolf fighting ring as Charlie may have stolen a list of the werewolves being supervised by the Ministry.

Aurors!  I'm so excited that Level Two is seeing some action again, with so many new (and returning!) faces.  We were pretty quiet for a while.

My impression is that things in the Auror Office are pretty steady right now.  There's some outstanding cases, but they're not in PANIC! mode like they were during the early WBA campaign or the Dugan mess.  All of the Dementor patrols are probably starting to be a bit wearing, though.  It's a good time for the bad guys to stir up some trouble.  :)

Neon, are you interested in connecting Shaozu to a plot?  If you want, I bet we could come up with a reason for him to interact with his British counterparts.  (Or he can just swing through for a visit -- guest lecturer for the trainees, maybe?)

I think Kit ran through the list of possible cases.  With the Dementors resurfacing, I'd love to do more to bring up memories  from the old days regarding Lawrence betraying the Ministry.  Maybe we can get that going a little.

If any Aurors or trainees are interested in some personal drama, give a shout.  I think it would be easy to stir something up with Aviad.

On the WBA front...Jonas is currently playing a lot of his cards close to his chest, in regards to both Cinaed and the Runespoor case.  I'm not sure how much information he would share unless he's directly asked.  (For instance, I don't think he's going to report Burke's visit unless it goes horribly awry.)  I would love for that to develop IC, if anyone were to realize that he's prone to playing a little rogue.

I'm keeping Zora pretty quiet recently and will probably keep her to just a couple threads at a time.  (Such as anything about her promotion, or a group meeting.)

Partners: Zora's partner is Ed Pratt, but I don't always have them working together.  I like this system - we have partners of our own choosing, but don't have to be stuck at the hip.  IC, I figured partners were assigned by Raynor.  If someone needs a partner, we could all certainly help get a match.

Re: Knox/Wizengamot - I love getting him involved in things big and small.  Quick threads about warrents are fun, him presiding over hearings, or you can get his vote on any cases and convictions.

Re: Minister Zephyr - she's got faith in Level Two and mostly stays out of their way.  I can imagine Level Two getting vexed from time to time if it seems like Level One is taking credit or parading their accomplishments for political points.

I'm quite happy with the way things are going on Level Two! Thanks for putting this up, Dawn.

For Aurors: Welcome Wagon, the lovely Brett is being polite to the staggering and shy new Trainee. It's open to all, I believe.

RE: Cases;

Ignatius is up for some shadowing or general investigating. He's good to work for any of the cases, but Runespoor and Corpus are the ones that caught my attention the most. I'm happy to plot him being injured, he's quite new to the field and if they're stretched thin he might be put out in the field and suffer because of it.

Any criminals want to shake up some drama and wound the new trainee?

RE: Trainees;

Quite engaged, thanks!

I have a few things to add, case wise.

Neville came back to the Auror Corps. because his Gran was attacked in her home. He has been working almost non stop on that case but has also been on other cases as needed. The attack was possibly connected to the Grindlewald plot but nothing got cemented regarding that one. As of right now I don't have anything solid on what actually happened to her though I know a few criminals were thrown up as possible culprits.

Attack Plotting

Neville talks to Harry about the Attack

Then there's Lexus who has been working the last year as an informant for the Aurors. She originally came in under Jonas after she was arrested during the Ides of March and has been feeding the Aurors information about Knockturn's inhabitants in exchange for not being sent to Azkaban or being deported. She is currently under Cooper Evans whom she clashes with majorly. Their last encounter had them talking of a mole within the Ministry feeding the criminals sensitive information. It's not known to all Aurors that she's an informant and is often in a polyjuice disguise when she has to come to the office. She's starting to get deeper into the criminal underworld, doing contract work for Ira Almasy and trying to make contact with the WBA. It's also possible that she might end up on the wrong end of the stick where the criminals start using her as an informant on the Aurors.

I promise to write up a bi more about the cases my two Aurors are involved in but for now I'll put forth the following: the Fenwick cas may be considered closed by the department due to lack of conclusive evidence. Also, I'm up for throwing either of my two at any cases where they may be needed.

You can always make some things up if you want Milly :) I could throw Lawrence at her for a bit of petty banter if you like. He's on 'parole' and checks in each wee, at the Ministry but is rather two faced about who he is 'nice' to in the aurors. He was an auror before he was put in Azkaban for war crimes, and has a public persona of being reformed and repenting while he's been creepy to some of his ex colleagues. PM me if you'd like to throw some ideas about?
