[March 15] And We Have a Problem [Omari]

Dementors. Just what they needed. Admete's weekend had been overtaken by evaluating security and whatever could be pulled together on Dementors. She was never going to finish another painting. Least not at this rate.

Made her want to go back and finish some of those ones from the last war, though. Always had trouble finishing those.

She'd just made some tea, and was now alternating between eyeing the paintings on the wall and going through paperwork while she waited. It wasn't time yet, but she wanted to be prepared. And this wasn't Pratt, couldn't say she'd be surprised if Auror Warrington showed up early.

He wasn't one of the Aurors she had worked closely with, at least not before now. She was looking forward to it.

There was the sound of footsteps outside her door. Admete looked up. "Come in."

Omari had been enjoying his weekend off. The last week had been a hectic one. Both with the Dementor attacks, the late night shifts and deal with Herr Heinemann. It wasn’t that he didn’t like to work a lot, it was just that sometimes he needed to take a couple of hours to relax. Not that it was easy with his mother constantly being worried about the foul Dementors that was hiding in close proximity...

What made him more excited than normal at the thought of coming back to work this particular monday was the aspect of finally working with his fairly new boss - Miss Admete Brown. Ofcourse he had met her on Level Two before, but they hadn’t really worked together. Not close, anyway.

He knew he was early, but he was eager to get to work, and to get to know why he, and not some other Auror Brown knew better, had been called to her office. He was just about to knock on the door when he heard it: “Come in.”

He opened the door, and gave Brown one of his warming smiles, one of those that made almost every other person warm up a bit, as he entered.

“Mornin’ Ma’am,” he said as a greeting, and gave a small bow with his head. “Ye wanted to see me?”

"Yes, please sit." It came out a little more curt then Admete intended, but maybe the stress was starting to nip at her. Always was.

She waited until the door had closed behind him before continuing. Cupped her hands together on her desk, brushing a few papers aside in the process. "You've heard about the Dementors."

There were enough in the office who had baggage there. Warrington didn't seem to as much as the rest of them, from his records. Hadn't been deep in that whole mess. And, might be better to have someone fresh. Someone who hadn't already had their terror pulled out and out by the shades.

"Putting together a few things for that. Would like you in on it, if you're interested." A tray set with the tea floated over to them with a wave of her wand. Reminded her to check about the coffee pots. Later.

The curtness of her voice made Omari lose his smile and sit down instantly. He could hear that this was serious business, and should be treated as such. He was, if nothing, professional when it came to it. At the mention of the Dementors he nodded, and uttered a small: “Aye, ma’am.”

Even if he knew every resource they had was going to get rid of these dementors, Omari was still a bit surprised that he was the one being asked to join in on it. From his experience, he was usually called in to the cases where there tended to be much wand-waving between the Aurors and their suspects. Dementors was an entirely different thing.

He would’ve never said no, though.

“Aye, ma’am,” he said again, accepting a cup of tea from the tray. “Whatever it takes to get rid o’ them!”

He took a sip from the cup before setting it down on the table.

“What do yer want me to do?”

Auror Warrington suddenly looked a bit more worried than Admete had intended, and she offered him a glimpse of a smile. The meeting wasn't anything he needed to worry about. She pulled a folder of papers out from a file, and offered them across the desk.

"These are the reports so far. Nothing too surprising, but I'd like fresh eyes on it." Eyes that hadn't gone through this during the war. As much as experience had its merits, the dementors still preyed on feelings, memories. Toss in memories of them and it got messy quick.

Another sheaf of papers, this one far thinner than the first. "And here's a few contacts from the Spirit Wing, see what they've got to say." With the paperwork handed, she cupped her hands around her own mug and let the steam waft up to her face, leaned forward a little more.

"Working on getting a few more experts rounded up to consult on this. Should have more for you there next week." A pause for a sip from her drink. "You'll have a bit of leeway for this. Want to get a handle on it before too much panic. If you've got questions, ask away." Her expression was open, anticipatory as she waited.
