Physical Description:
Lyman is a young, eleven year old boy with white skin, short brown hair and black eyes. When not in his school uniform, Lyman usually wears T-shirts based on anime or video games and generic blue jeans.

Height: 58"
Weight: 86 lbs

Personality Description:
It's said that Slytherins are cunning and ambitious, Ravenclaws are intelligent, Gryffindors are courageous and Hufflepuffs are loyal and just.

None of these words apply to Lyman. Indeed, Lyman is far from ambitious, and while he is intelligent and could potentially be cunning in his plots, he would likely never be able to bring himself to utilize any skills he has to any ends whatsoever. He is easily scared, and while he'd never intentionally betray his friend without being betrayed first, Lyman's actions are usually to reach his own ends rather than to aid others (assuming he has any).

When forced to solve problems, Lyman tends to do so logically, finding out as much as possible and putting the information together in order to discover a plausible solution. This is not to say that he can't be creative when the situation calls for it, but that he prefers a more logical approach.

It should be noted that Lyman is addicted to the internet, and has a great love for video games. When kept away from a way to connect to the internet for more than two days, Lyman often finds himself unable to concentrate, and when his mother took his computer away from him for a whole month, Lyman found himself extremely irritable and easily angered.

History:
Born to and raised by single mother Alice Steed, Lyman didn't have the most privileged of childhoods; while he and his mother were not poor, they were dangerously close to it. Lyman and his mother stayed in a dingy apartment, lived on McDonalds and cheaply cooked meals, and had only one computer for entertainment. It was almost a miracle that Alice had enough money to send Lyman to school.

It was a mixture of this and the lack of children in the neighborhood that led to Lyman's compulsion to the internet, where people spoke on equal grounds regardless of age, where video games of all types were only a click away, and where creativity blossomed. By the time he was seven, Lyman's teachers began complaining about his lack of effort on his schoolwork. When he was eight, Alice eventually got fed up and disconnected the internet for a whole month, which shed light on Lyman's anger management issues, worsening his grades even further.

Then, when Lyman was eleven, he received an owl carrying a message regarding Hogwarts. After the initial disbelief wore off (and it eventually did when a teacher came and demonstrated proof to the family), Lyman was unsure of whether he could go to Hogwarts, primarily due to the lack of technology in the area, though Alice convinced him to give the wizarding life a shot (if only to provide Lyman with a less distracting environment).

Currently, Lyman is a Hufflepuff that fails to display any quality of any house, is surprisingly good at potions and defense against the dark arts, but has subpar grades in most other classes. In addition, he gets abysmal grades in History of Magic. Lyman has failed to make any real friends in his stay at Hogwarts, and has stayed under the radar of most members of Hufflepuff, only drawing attention to himself when he 'suffers from internet withdrawal'.

It should be noted that Alice's job is a telemarketer. Lyman never knew his father, and Alice never spoke of him, though she constantly alluded to some horrible act of his. Lyman never demonstrated any visible acts of magic before being accepted into Hogwarts, though this was due more to his lack of opportunity to do so, what with his compulsion towards the internet.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Lyman is an eleven year old muggleborn internet addict with a penchant for potion making and defending against the dark arts. He is constantly preoccupied with thoughts of the internet, and suffers from bouts of internet withdrawal. He is what many would describe as 'wasted potential', never working towards any ultimate goal despite obviously having the cunning and intelligence to do so.
