It was early afternoon and Peyton's head was still pounding. He had slept in late into the morning, skipping breakfast completely. He wondered if his dorm mates had tried to rouse him at all or if they had just let him sleep it off. When he awoke he had to rush to the washrooms to expel whatever had been left in his stomach and it was soon after that the headache started. Peyton had only experienced a hangover once before but it had been enough to know what he was feeling now. He knew he had drank at least a third of the bottle of firewhiskey that he had gotten for his Seventeenth birthday but judging by the fact that he had almost no memory of the night before it was likely that hadn't been the only thing he had drank.
He stood on the edge of the Quidditch pitch in a pair of sweat pants and an undershirt letting the cold February air cool him down. It was doing well enough for him though nothing for his head ache. He knew that the instant he was flying he'd be frozen but he was actually looking forward to it. He could have been wearing his Quidditch robes but they had felt too heavy for his sore muscles when he attempted putting them on. So instead his dressed minimally bringing along just a cloak and Phoenix, his broom.
Had he still been Quidditch Captain he likely would have dragged the entire Ravenclaw team out here with him. He wasn't resentful about it though. Chloe was doing a great job with the team and he was still on the roster of players so he hadn't exactly lost everything. His NEWTs however were more important, at least that's what his father had thought when he once again got an owl about Peyton's struggling grades. He was worried that if his son didn't make it onto a professional team after school ended, he'd have no other viable options.
Peyton hoisted Phoenix off his shoulder and contemplated mounting her. He was hoping the cold air and the altitude would diminish his head ache but now he was worried the ill effects of the copious drinking from the night before would adversely affect his flying.
"Bollocks."
