A mystery has been solved and a notorious murderer has met his end at the wands of Aurors.
Marc Donnelly, a career criminal with ties to Theodora Kingstreet, was killed by Aurors on the 2nd of January. The showdown happend at the climax of an investigation into the whereabouts of Lucy Matthews (11).
Miss Matthews was discovered missing in aftermath of a Hogwarts Dragonpox scare, which occurred this November.
"We believe that Matthews was taken from Hogwarts for treatment at St. Mungo's. At this point in time, it is unclear whether she was kidnapped before or after she supposedly arrived at the hospital," said Auror Zora Roh.
Admete Brown, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement said, "We appreciate the cooperation of Hogwarts and St. Mungo's in handling this case, along with the stellar work from the Aurors that led to finding Lucy Matthews. While the investigation for this situation is not yet closed, a girl is now able to return to her life and family."
The Headmistress of Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall, stated that Hogwarts was all to happy to cooperate when it became apparent Lucy Matthews was not accounted for. But the course of events still remains muddy.
"The kidnapping of Miss Matthews has been a terrible ordeal for all parties involved. There was no cause for alarm, with a representative of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries and Maladies present at time of transfer. Periodic updates were made as to Miss Matthew's welfare, and attempts to contact the student's family were made. It has been a tragic ordeal, but rest assured that Hogwarts is still as safe as it has always been. Patrols have been increased and security measures have been put in place to deter any event like this from happening again. Hogwarts remains strong."
Unfortunately, one wizard's status remains uncertain. Level Two could not confirm or deny that St. Mungo's Healer Jason Marren is a suspect, but he was injured in the rescue and his future survival is as yet for the Seers to divine.
"It's true that Healer Marren hasn't been acting like himself recently... but I don't believe for a second that he could have ever purposely harmed a child. The man is like Superdad. There had to have been something else going on." An opinion from Healer-In-Training Kale Ferris.
