  At Hogwarts two students talk to snakes while others look for shoes. First years and a visiting auror save the world, or was it an owl?
  
  The ever-efficient Head Girl and prefects enforce the curfew, however some take Hogwarts studies very seriously for other reasons.
  
  The second years are off to the crypt, while the fourth years measure up their new COMC professor. The NEWT students sprout flowers in Transfiguration and calculate romance.
  
  For some, they suffer an extra lesson, a detention or a poor grade. The Professors meanwhile are becoming acquainted, fending off howlers.
  
  On a Sunday morning the boys seem rather busy at the quidditch pitch, but for others activism is a preoccupation as SAWS seeks direction.
  
  As Valentines Day approaches some seek advice, others write poetry, visit charity shops, or share a butterbeer. Not everyone is enthused, even if Puddifoots does a roaring trade that weekend. But perhaps the most unusual valentine lands at the Ravenclaw table…!

  At the Ministry, it's a big hello from MAC to a new intern, meanwhile former DoM interns are looking forward to becoming an unspeakable.
  
  MLE is busy as ever discussing families and old colleagues after recent releases, and catching up over lunch. The trainees are beginning to pull their weight, kept busy by their Department Head, particularly while other aurors are under the weather. There are some unexpected callers, but the most fun is to be had at the Sword and Chant.
  
  Diagon society laments a bowtie, hangovers and argues over quidditch before making business deals. The St Mungo's ladies try an alternative Valentines. There's some funny goings on down the Alley, enough to wake the dead, but Sellaphix Apothecary trades on as ever.
  
  In Hogsmeade the Ellis sisters catch up, instead of meeting werewolves and Puddifoots takes on new staff, only to have slumbering clients soon after. The place is more than awake come valentines!
  
  There's trouble afoot for an injured werewolf and an ex-azzie seeks a roof over his head. The Knights entertain the Hollingburys. A quiet Sunday is disturbed by a flying car making the Muggle news.
  
  In the Muggle world a circus arrives on the outskirts of London and young folk let their hair down amongst the Muggles, while others enjoy the marvel of television.
  
  But at least love is there, even if you lose your plants and pants.

The Third Task of the Tetrawizard Tournament continues!  While the Champions might have been expecting to wake up alongside their respective schoolmates, they awakened in the Forbidden Forest in mixed interscholastic teams.  Now they must work together with their competitors to brave the perils of the Task by using a golden cage to capture a winged Snidget.

  New Mobile Theme is Up and Running!
  
  Thanks to our fundraising success, we were able to roll out our new mobile theme in mid-May.  This will hopefully allow those of you who regularly use a mobile device to access Absit Omen a little more easily.  To see the new theme, simply bring up the AO webpage on a mobile device!

  Tagging: A Few Friendly Reminders!
  
  It's great to see everyone using the Tagging Feature at Absit Omen!  Tagging is an easy way for others to track threads involving specific characters, that take place in particular plots, or that happen on specific dates.
  
  We just wanted to pass on a few friendly tips to make certain that AO's Tagging is as useful as can be!
  
  
  • When you date a thread using tags, please use the proper format.  February 14 2010 and February 2010 are correct, but "14 February 2010," "February 14th 2010," or "February 14" are not correct.  Using one format allows all threads to show up with their proper date in the Thread Timeline!
    
    
  • Tags recognize punctuation (like capitalization) only when you first create or reply to a thread.  If you want to fix a capitalization issue, you'll need to untag all of the posts, post again with the tag in the proper format, and then retag the threads.

  London Forecast for February 14-28, 2010
  
  Valentine's Day is not everything that lovers might hope for, as it's cool and overcast, but thankfully there is no rain as the couples of London spend their Sunday out and about!  A weak storm system brings one day of heavy rain on February 16, but the weather clears up afterwards.  Another storm system comes in during the week of February 22, and rainy weather persists through the end of the month.  February ends with rain, wind, and a few claps of thunder!
  
  
  • Best Sunny Days: February 17^th, 20^th. 
  • Watch for rain: February 16^th, 22^nd, 24^th, 25^th and 28^th.
  
  
  Hogsmeade & Hogwarts Forecast for February 14-28, 2010
  
  Valentine's Day is rainy and dreary in Scotland, but that surely won't keep students from taking to the streets of Hogsmeade with that special someone.  The next week, a moderate storm system brings a few days of heavy snow showers and wind.  Snow and rain persist into the last week of February, when a heavy storm system brings a blizzard with heavy snow, strong winds, and freezing temperatures!
