Inky Zeke & the Hopping Plots

on June 12, 2013, 06:26:47 AM

Ohmygerd SJ is attempting to write a dude, whaaaa? Attempt being the operative word there, so be gentle with me. Am I experimenting ~. Anyway lemme tell you about my bb Zeke (I will try to give it to you in short list form to make up for the plotting monstrosity that was my ladies of AO post)!

The Basics
  • Name:
Ezekiel Abraham, better known as Zeke
  • Age:
twenty-two, he graduated from Hogwarts in the 2005-2006. He was a Gryffindor
  • Occupation:
Tending bar and helping run his family's Pub, The Hopping Pot. He also tattoos on the side (so you underagers come find him on your Spring Hols, he'll cover you in ink even if he won't serve you liquor!
  • Artistic:
Inking up people's skin might not seem like your classic artistic type, but Zeke has a deep love for all things creative. People assume because of the job and his appearance that he's not very bright and isn't doing much with his life. For Zeke the reality is simple: good art takes experience, you have to be in the world and of the world to find the beauty in it. It takes years to become any kind of master, but in the art of ink it is even more complicated, so for now what he's doing is loving his chosen medium and learning all he can about the best inks and experimenting with the effects on Wizarding skin.
  • Protector:
Zeke always roots for the little guy, the underdog, and as much as he likes when people succeed on their own... he also has this urge to fix things, including people. Being a white knight is fairly common in Gryffindor, and the cliche is almost laughable but Zeke can't help himself. It should be noted his Knight-ness is not limited to women, he'll try to save just about any body. If you need help, if life has got you down, Ezekiel is your shoulder to cry on, the person who wants to pick you up and carry you across the finish line. I can be a real problem.
  • Lady Luvr:
When I say he loves the ladies, I am not speaking in terms of his sexuality (though he does that too). I am talking about a deep and abiding love and respect for the women of the world. He is a firm believer that all the best parts of the universe have come from or been inspired by women. He thinks it should be a universally accepted fact that realistically men need women more than women need men (as evidenced by any time he and his father and brothers were left to their own devices). He feels female empowerment is paramount to living in a healthy successful society. You will never ever hear him make a "get in the kitchen and make me a sammich" joke, and you might see him punch someone who does. He has a lot of feels about the ladies okay?

Ways you Might Know Him
  • The Hopping Pot
We have the Lazy Kelpie and Black Chimeara for the less savory types but haven't you ever wondered where the good guys go to pound back a few, let off some steam, and try their hand at Billiards? Oh, right, the Leaky Cauldron...well! Now we have another place! The Hopping Pot is akin to "the cop bar" (though they cater to everyone), and has been family owned and operated for the last fifty years! Zeke has taken on more of a managerial role in the last year, but he still standing behind the bar, serving up drinks and a sympathetic ear.
  • Roar Roar Gryffindor:
House pride was and remains a very important part of who Ezekiel is. He bleeds red and gold with the best of them. He was also on the Quidditch team, so basically if you're from his age bracket and you went to Hogwarts he wants to hang out with you (unless you're a jerk), especially if you were in his house. Gryffies were his second family, but all of Hogwarts was home so even if you weren't in his year/house I am sure we can come up with a reason for him knowing you!
  • Family:
He is the second eldest child of the Abraham family, which means he's probably given you really dirty looks at one point or another if you've hit on or been rude to his bb sister Brett (he calls her Janie, she hates it a lot) - but also I think he would have taken on a sort of big brother role to most of her friends as well so that's a thing!
  • Less-than-legal-ink:
When he was starting to learn the fine art of permanently marking up people's bodies he needed test subjects. Now obviously they were all underage at that point but whatever. He still does work for sixteen year olds who don't want to wait a year, but that's a bout as young as he will go. It's still a thing though, so we could make plot bunnies.

Right, so this has ended up A LOT longer than I anticipated. Sorry! Anyway here he is. Plots are delicious.

I'm not sure if I should hate you or love you, SJ, 'cause know Ryder wants to be inked all over as long as it means seeing this hunk often. Adam is also the type to get a tattoo, so either or work at that front and I'm willing to get 'em inked up.

Meanwhile, Harry or Coop can always stop by the pub at any time!

You should love me because I need love. Also iamsonervousaboutwritinghim.

I don't know how he'd take to Ryder given his attitude? Not owning a shop and working out of his dad's back room affords him the opportunity to turn some people away. If Ryder came in with his typical "I am the best thing ever everyone should serve me" attitude Zeke would boot him out the door without a second thought.

With Adam it could be tricky? I can't remember off the top of my head if Adam is on the wanted list or not? If he's not and Aurors don't skeeve him out then I can see making something like that work.

I think the best bet probably is either Coop or Harry, just by virtue of their jobs/The Hopping Pot. I see him being really concerned about Cooper if he does any of his excessive drinking in public, or just in general knowing what he's gone through. He's a good listener! Like a male Effie with fewer exclamation points. And of course Harry is Harry Frackin Potter. He drinks fo' free fo' life.

Woooooo! A BOY! One day maybe I'll have one of those... but not today. Probably not tomorrow. Guess I should plot with yours and live vicariously through you! Go team!

I have Bethan for you. I don't think you've posted with her before, so that's neat! She's 19 and a former Gryffindor (same year as Brett), so I'm sure they would have known one another at school. They are also both gainfully employed tending bar at establishments that are slightly more savory than the norm (at least for now in Beth's case). Very recently she has been speaking a lot more seriously about getting a tattoo, such as in this recent thread, among other places,  but she has no idea what she wants and isn't very good at articulating her desires. The issue is, she isn't actually sure if the area she WANTS tattooed CAN be tattooed, and she is too chicken to go for a consultation where she'd have to show it off in all its scarred up glory. She wants it to work out so badly that she's putting off finding out that it might not. I actually think dealing with that more privately (aka not in some storefront with people looking and judging) might be a good solution for her... assuming he'd be willing to work on the client with the world's vaguest desires. Haha!

The only other character I have who is remotely close in age is Bethan's big sis Brynn, who is 26 and a former Hufflepuff. I'm not sure how they'd know each other, honestly, but I do know that she wouldn't be afraid of his tough guy facade, since she's used to finding kittens in lion suits. She does work at the ministry, so I'm sure she has been by the pub after work in the past (in her field it is sometimes necessary to punch out and then immediately begin to imbibe). She probably couldn't speak to him specifically about why she was bummed out on those occasions, but I'm sure she wouldn't have minded some company while she tried to get back into a positive headspace.

SOOOOO.

I have Archer, who would probably be a very usual figure in the Hopping Pot (if he's not with Tamis, that is ;) ).  But, yea, he'd know Zeke in the capacity that a bartender would know a patron!

Margo is 28, but she's the sort that likes to have a good time - so the Hopping Pot would be a place she'd go 1000%.  Also, she has a dragon tattoo on her upper back that has not been set who did it - so Zeke very well could have.

Then there's Jordy, who was like a second year when he was a seventh year?  So, I doubt they'd really know one another, but you never know.  There could be a plot there somewhere... if you squint.

Not sure how helpful this is, but I'm all about plotting with yoooooou :)

I love the premise for the Hopping Pot!!  Jonas will totally hang out there.   :D  We'll have to get some Auror threads going there soon.  Kurb and Rai have probably visited too.

On the flip side...Aviad is pretty into tattooing -- he has a sleeve tattoo on his right arm, and I'm sure he'd chat up someone else who had visible tattoos.  He and Zeke are pretty close in age, and he might be bold enough to go to the bar where the good guys all hang out.  So maybe we could plot something there?

Sunny My bb - I demand threads with Bethan. On her days off she should hang out at the Hopping Pot to get face time in with the Aurors! See how smert I am? Also Zeke really just wants to pat Brynn on the head and tell her she can't save the world all by herself (hello Pot, meet Kettle).

Jess <3 - Archer Radley is boss there for he should spend all his down time (when he is not with his lush lady friend) getting sauced at the Hopping Pot. Also I like the idea of him maybe having done Margo's tattoo - when did she get it done exactly? lol if he was fresh out of Hogwarts she would have had to trust him a lot, which could actually be interesting to do in a pensive thread? Not sure about Jordy but I love her a lot, you know that.

Sparky - I'm really excited about developing the Hopping Pot as a place. I can't wait to see what threads Aurors and other Ministry folks come up with, also the Hospital too a think, ALL THE GOOD GUYS! I have this image of Kurb and Zeke communicating through grunts, which would be a hard thread to right but is hilarious in my head. He also thinks Rai is basically stunning and awesome. I like that Avid is so brazen, that could prove really really interesting. We will have to thread once things mellow out for you!

It hasn't been totally established WHEN she got it, but it was probably a little over two years ago - maybe when she first got back to England after Romania.

In that case he'd have been twenty and practiced for a little a couple of years.  Though, truth be told, Margo isn't the type to care too much.  A pensieve thread could be wicked fun!

Or Margo could get a new tatt, since she loves her old one.  *this is a great possibility - I just need to figure out what it is going to be*

SJJJJJJJ. :'D

Out of the spirit of adventure, Gracie will brave The Hopping Pot and its regulars to check out its resident tattoo artist's, ahem, skill. She's been thinking of getting another tattoo for a while now… maybe come summertime? :>

CeeCee and Rick seem like they'd also know him; one's a social butterfly, and the other… well… #bars LOL. Maybe not necessarily at THP, but.

y/n? C:

Lou is a fellow Gryffindor alum, so there's a good chance they know each other. I could see them being friends or friendly acquaintances. I'm sure there have been Carters around The Hopping Pot at some point. :)

Tilly would really like him and appreciate his personality. So, another potential friend! If he likes music, he should pop into Reducto.

Also, I don't know whether they would get along, but Laney has several tattoos, so there's another potential customer for you!

<3 His face is perfection.

Lala would definitely be a client both of his bar tending skills and his artistic skills. Also—artistic... artsy people should stick together. Plus she might've referred some people to him, to get her designs inked? Lala's the sort of person that needs saving from herself... or well, her mouth, mostly... But I can see them being friends. Me thinks.

Sander would've been a year ahead of him I think, but  despite his grumper extraordinaire attitude he did make friends. And he's a good friend, and his brother Lester is a tattoo aficionado, so I can see them having crossed paths at some point?

Phillip will probably come to him to get a tattoo, or more (definitely more) as soon as spring break rolls? He's good friends with Lala, so she might refer him to Zeke? They also have the same sort of protecting attitude, both Gryffies and  while they might have disparaging views on women, Phillip's is about to change soon-ish?

And Arianne and Éloi might both think him...interesting in some aspects. Aria might've popped up at the bar more than one time. Also if you want him at Le Masque, lemme know.

Jess - OR WE COULD DO BOTH OMGERD.  I basically just love Margo and I think she's one of those bad ass women Zeke is just in awe of. He'd love to hear about all her adventures in dragon research. We have to do this like asap.

Sly - His needle will be ready and waiting for Miss Gracie. I think he would adore CeeCee. As for Rick, we will have to work something out because I see sourwolf and Zeke having a strange sort of kinship. XD

Tor - I feel like he would look at Lou like another kid sister, ruffle her hair, cut her off before she's too sloppy drunk and the like. He would super adore Tilly because I think that's like a law of AO, you can't meet Tilly and not love her. It's impossible. Also babies. I think Zeke really loves babies, bbColin can be his new bf5ever. We should totally throw he and Laney together to see what plays out!

Amaraaaaa - I love the idea of Lala sending him clients, he would also love to talk to her about her work. I feel like he could/would wait out Sander being... well Sander-y, trying to get to know the person behind the grumping, likewise I think he'd be really taken with Phillip, in the sense he would remind him of himself to some degree or another. He might also have to lecture him on his stance on women and why it is wrong until it changes XD Arianne would terrify him a little, but he'd have to respect her. I will have to think about Zeke in connection to Le Masque. I could see him working there (maybe a few times a month, using one of the private rooms for anyone who is looking for some work done) more than like being a member?

Me me me me! Still interested here! Zeke should pop by Lala's party, btw. He'd definitely be invited and it's an opportunity to get him rolling.

I'd also like for him and Sander to maybe interact a bit?  He's thinking about getting a tattoo, but he's not exactly sure yet... He might ask him questions and ask to help him decide?
