She offered to cook dinner and suggested I invite another professor or two. You're the only one who came to mind right away. She suggested we get together next time she was in the Village, I mentioned the next Hogsmeade weekend was Valentine's and that I did not intend to be so presumptuous to expect her company that weekend- due to the holiday- but offered her the opportunity to escape from the pink and cupid lined streets at my house. And now she is cooking and suggested I should invite others. In case you do not remember, I did not exactly get on with most of the staff. Any suggestions on who else to invite?-Declan Skip to next post Re: [Feb. 3rd-??] It's not what it seems! But short of inviting Mister Woodward (have you met him? He's the lion) I can certainly ask around and see who might be interested. That said, I'd be glad to come by. Finnigan's a good sort; I'm sure Iggy will take to her. - Tapendra Skip to next post Re: [Feb. 3rd-??] It's not what it seems! I suspect that Miss Finnigan might have suggested company out of fear or discomfort in being alone with me at my home. Luckily she has already met Iggy and he likes her quite well. I am not certain he will be at home for the evening. He is still at Mungo's recovering from Dragon Pox and I do not know if he will be better/if you would want to be exposed to the disease.I appreciate your aid in this matter. I admit I am in a bit of a panic over the situation. I do not want Miss Finnigan to think me a cad for suggesting she visit on Valentine's weekend. Her opinion means much to me. -Declan Skip to next post Re: [Feb. 3rd-??] It's not what it seems! I do not know Miss Finnigan well, but my little experience of her makes me doubt she's scared to spend time with you. She seems pretty bloody friendly, honestly, so I suspect it might just be more out of a desire to spend time with colleagues. I wouldn't panic, Declan. You're pretty upfront about yourself so if she's fine with coming over at all, I'd say you're doing well?- TapendraPS: How is Iggy, anyhow? Has he gotten less green? Less green, yes, but still a sickly hue and has some lingering purple spots. He's a miserable little blight right now, though I certainly understand why. I just hope he recovers fully. I should hate for my son to spend the rest of his days green. Of course, I would rather him be green than- well, than for the worst to happen. I suppose if he ends up permanently green I'll just have to remind him it is better to be green than to not be alive. Thank you for your vote of confidence. I am not accustomed to finding myself so incredibly flustered... Yet it seems to be a far more common occurrence these days. Mostly because of Iggy, but it also seems to have leaked into other areas of my life.I shall see you on Sunday afternoon, then. Again, I appreciate your willingness to come along and get me out of a sticky and potentially awkward situation. I would have been at a loss on what to do if you were otherwise engaged.-DeclanP.S. If he's getting redder, that's a very good sign (from what I've been told). Hopefully he's home in time for spring, and he can go outside into nice weather. I wouldn't let yourself get flustered, but honestly I am not the best person to ask. Trust me. I'd say "be yourself" but that advice has never done me or anyone I know a lick of good, so...be friendly and polite, I suppose? Maybe get yourself a copy of Witch Weekly, they've got article after article on tips if you dig past the columns of gossip or recommendations on hair spells. I think you can buy her something provided it's a non-romantic gift, but the rules of Valentine's gifting are not ones I've been taught. I used to just get my wife chocolates and volunteer to eat the coconut clusters. Not sure I'd recommend that in this case. - Tapendra Skip to next post Re: [Feb. 3rd-??] It's not what it seems! I think I will pass. Though your limited advice has helped. I will go into Hogsmeade later and ask a shopkeep about an appropriate gift. I am certain that they will be able to help me find the appropriate gift. I also hope Iggy will be home soon. It is strangely quiet in the house without his running around and getting underfoot. If he's home for Spring, that would be ideal. I've met a few families in Hogsmeade with children his age and have mde plans to socialize him some. He's met a couple of children. There is a young girl he gets along with quit well. It seems he might grow up to be a heart breaker. Your advice for him has been incredibly helpful. -Declan Skip to next post Re: [Feb. 3rd-??] It's not what it seems! The girls tend to collect the things, so I’ve gotten used to having them on hand (so to speak). Rubbish things, really, but the wizarding press is rather lacking in men’s magazines that aren’t a bit less…romantically focused. Those tend to turn up around the castle at an alarming rate – found one between the pages of a library book the other day. Can you imagine? Sorry, I’m a bit off topic. I’m sure a shopkeep or one of the waitresses can help you – Hogsmeade is overflowing with helpful people if you know where to look. Best wishes to Iggy. - Tapendra Skip to next post Re: [Feb. 3rd-??] It's not what it seems! I was thinking that we could meet at my home on the 14th around 5PM. Miss Finnigan is going to prepare dinner. I was thinking it would be good to have some form of extra entertainment, but I am not sure what. If you have any suggestions or good party games, please bring them along.I will see you on the fourteenth! Again, thank you for agreeing to attend.-Declan Skip to next post
