Herbology, Cooking and Bowties, OH MY!

on June 06, 2013, 04:25:58 PM

Ianto Hughes
Herbologist | Enjoys Cooking | Is obsessed with bowties | Excentric

What's that? Jager has taken on another?! Why, yes, yes I have! And there's still one more on the way -just 'cause I'm crazy like that-, but then I'll be done for quite awhile. But, anywho, onto our business today: Ianto Hughes.

Per his biography ('cause I'm too lazy to start typing up information on him all over again):

Somewhat eccentric as he may be, Ianto Hughes has a strong sense of social justice and an inability to keep his mouth shut when he wants to open it –as well as finding it impossible to realize when certain comments should be kept to himself. A man who loves his family dearly, he also has a number of obsessions: herbology (to the point of being a walking encyclopedia on plants and their properties), cooking and bowties (to the point of having two of each, in order to wear one and save the other in his collection).

But, what do you wanna do with him, Jager? And how can I get involved? Why, thanks for asking that, my dear *InsertPersonsNameHere*! Here're a few ideas for Ianto, but, as always, I'm eternally open to hear more and probably willing to toss him into anything we can cook up:

  • Family: Now, see, Ianto is apparently VERY close to his family, whether they be close or a bit further away from his lineage -yes, he even loves his twice removed great grandchild (if ever there is one). (If that relationship is even real and my mind didn't make it up). SO, I'd love to establish his relationship with his family members on the board -which there are a LOT of. So hit me.
  • Clients: Ianto has had greenhouses built on his property, and sells what he grows both to stores and individuals who need them for ingredients. Considering he's quite knowledgable on all things herbology, I'm fairly certain he'd be at least somewhat succesful, so I'd like to play this part of it all out a bit.
  • Social Interactions: Oh, what I'd give to toss him into any type of social thread. I imagine him as the type to walk around parties talking about plants, and, if drunk, just dancing around in the middle of the room. He's also not the type to jump into conversations, but will speak up if he believes his opinion is needed.
  • Other: Anything, really, as long as I think it's reasonable that Ianto would be a part of it.

So what do we do now, Jager? Why, my dear *InsertPersonsNameHere*, you post below or PM either of all my accounts and we can get something set up. It should be noted that, as Ianto is a secondary, I'm going to be taking him a bit more slowly, giving plot related threads more importance AND not tossing him into as many threads as all the rest of mine tend to get involved in.

And that's it! Sorry this thing was so wacked. I felt creative in a very suckish way.

Bowties are cool :).

Anyway! I'd love to do a thread with Ianto and Fauna (and Flynn if Kelly is up for it)! Fauna and Flynn have been dating, and she hopes to make that 'officially dating' sometime soon if they're not interrupted by another break-in, hahaha.

Maybe once the "stolen plant" plot kicks off, she could talk to Ianto about what he and Flynn were working on with the plant? Just to get his perspective. I'm open to any other ideas as well! :D

Helllllloooo there!

I think Ianto works out as first cousins with Francis and Octavius (Monty) - back on Boxing Day, Ianto was over at the home of Octavius, Catherine, Theta, Zeta and Eta in Sandy: The Hughes Came Too but as an NPC back then.

If you're adding to the family, do let me know as I am meaning to update them all on Cody's family tree site, I just haven't sat down and got round to it yet to see how it works.

He and Edwin went to school together though Ed is two years his senior and was in Slytherin. However, Ed is a best friend to Monty, so undoubtedly the goodwill has extended to Ianto and they could well be friends too. Although Ed's no herbologist, I'm sure he's kept up with Ianto, and perhaps once or twice in the past has sought his advice as an external source with regards to plants that might cause catastrophes.

Might Ianto provide some specialist ingredients to St Mungo's? Elixa would probably love to come over and pour over plants with him, perhaps as part of their continued relations with the hospital apothecaries. She would be quite taken with his experimental work too, and this might be a handy alliance. Oh! Is Ianto looking for solutions for werewolves isn't he? Elixa's parents both work for Sweden's Frolich Institute of Wizarding Medicine, where she also did healer training (but didn't finish). They do a lot of werewolf research, so she too has a shared interest in that area of healing research.

There's something for now, anyhow. :)

Zeta is his...first cousin? Something along those lines. But she has to keep a tree alive for her herbology class, so she might write him for tips since he is awesome and knows these things.

Aisling has a bit of a interest in gardening, and she's been working on planting a few more herbs to donate to her daughter's potion studies. So she could be a potential client for him.

YAY! IDEAS!

Elle - Onna the reasons I took this guy on was for his family dinamics, and for his excentricity, and, finally, for the entire "stolen plant" plot. Thought he'd come in useful once stuff started happening. Which is my long way of saying, I'd love a thread between these two! Don't expect much out of Ianto (not because he is all secretive 'bout his work, but mostly because he'd be too worried asking Fauna when he can expect grandchildren -and possibly about the genetic pool of her family. And advising her on which plants can keep off stretch marks, and help with morning sickness, and the such. Just 'cause he's weird like that. :P But I'll hit you up on PM and we can set something up!

Kit - WOW! LOTS OF IDEAS! *HUGGLES* So far, not adding anyone to the family -just the info Kelly gave me on who his parents where, and his wife and all. Everything that's in his application. But, yep, as far as I can figure, he is cousins with Francis and Octavius, and really would have wanted to keep a relationship with them -y'know, family man all'round.

I'd also be really happy with sometime of friendship between Ianto and Ed -though, be warned, Ianto's excentric enough that whenever he got new ideas on plants that could cause catastrophy's, he'd had went straight to Ed to let him know. Meaning, since the first time he and Ed spoke about that, he's probably added information a thousand tims over.

As for Elixa, yep he can! He likes selling stuff. As long as it isn't his bowties. And I think he'd be pretty amused and content to have yet another person learning from him. He's smiling at the idea, as it is. And I'd be happy to bring her into the werewolf cure plot -though we'd have to talk with Elle and Kelly there, as it's their baby and I'm just tossing a couple of mine into the midst of it. If it works out, Elixa would have a pretty interesting plot in her hands.

Anywho, basically, I know you're a really bussy girl, so whenever you get a spot for a thread lemme know and we'll set something up!

Socksies - Zeta! Ianto! Owls! YES! ... Sorry, Ianto's happy one of his family members actually WANTS his help and he doesn't have to force it on them. ^_^

Lemme know if Aisling wants help with her gardening and you can have at him!

I'll work on a letter to him from Zeta when I have the chance, then. :)

And Aisling has plenty of motivation to go work more on her gardening. Feb 6th would be a good day for her to do something, if that works for Ianto as well.
