By the use of such places as a safe haven, by extension the term has come to be used for any place of safety. This secondary use can be categorized into human sanctuary, a safe place for humans, such as a political sanctuary; and non-human sanctuary, such as an animal or plant sanctuary. ~ Wikipedia entry introAlrighty, so this plot idea came up in chatting about some more ways for Vadim to be dark and crazy and all that sort of thing. It appears the old guy's machinations don't just stop with the older folk. Now he wants to corrupt the young'uns as well.The ConceptSo I plan to have Vadim attend the Charity Event for Hector Harrison, to pay his respects and to also interact with some of the other older witches and wizards. Sly and I plan to have him and Bai reconnect (we've established that she has spent time at his sanctuary in the past) and collaborate on a seminar involving some rare or mythical magical creatures (we're still hammering out the particulars). So Vadim will get to interact with students. He doesn't particularly like young people, but if you are interesting (i.e. have dark tendencies), he will likely take an interest.And so, after the seminar (and maybe some follow up thingys), I would like him to select a group of students to invite to his Sanctuary and Reserve during a spring break "retreat". Clearly his motives for doing so are not going to be entirely pure. He probably should have some other adults involved too (maybe some dark minded professors) and if you really want a character to be involved, I'm sure we can work something out (including the most morbid of suggestions, a character who dies). I'm trying to get him back to his darker roots, the suave charming manipulative bastard that has no qualms with using people to his own purposes. He also has a bit of a knack for magical creatures and is currently fascinated with the fact that he can see Thestrals - which the only person he had seen die was the werewolf he killed. Although facing allergies and weaknesses he has adapted quickly to handling certain creatures, notable besting an acromantula (runt of the colony, but still) and having it transported to the cellar of the family manor.I've also been very interested to play where Casey's moralities actually lie. Unlike Amara, who is more posed on direction, Casey is currently on the fence to whether he could actually do dark deeds or if he does do them, do them so smartly and without being caught.Buffer students: one can be available for 'arse covering' purposes.Though Heliotrope is not at the age to study creatures, given her wild child upbringing in a loch she is very comfortable with creatures (in the sense of always chasing this clabbert that came over on the Salem dragodirigible, for example). Plus she wouldn't know what is going on and is slightly impressionable. And as a half breed that might be attractive, although she has no dark tendencies.CONS: May be too young for Vadim's pool, and has not taken any electives yet.Ligeia has morbid fascinations while still being planted on the side of good. I know that Vadir would at least know of the Strelnikov children since he is intimately connected with the family. Maybe he had even met them when they were very little ((all of our lovelies in baddie day-care together while their parents were off defeating good)). If he knows they are at Hogwarts, I cannot imagine him passing them over. Strellie can also see thestrals: another reason she may be included in the trip beyond ancient family bonds. She's also rather muggley and pretty much dark is not evil, so she probably fits into both categories of students, and would be quite likely to do concerned poking at any sort of actual evilish stuff that might pop up. She's also a metamorph like her mother, but that's not widely known at all, so she could throw some complications in there as well. We're talking about the girl who befriends giant spiders and snuck a massive snake into the school. She's not 'dark' but she is half-giant so she might read as dark to some people. She's in the same boat as Mace in terms of being a foriegn student, but she'd be at the front of the room for any seminar involving animals, especially big ones. They're her speciality.
