Rigid with a decorated shaft, Ryder’s wand is 11 inches, made of cherry wood with a dragon heartstring.

Tall for his age and with a proud stance, Ryder Renwick has a haunting air to him; there’s something about his pale complexion that lightly freckled nose that has the effect of making people pause upon first setting eyes on him. His slim yet not at all muscular build make him quite unimposing physically, yet there’s something about his presence radiate a sense of control. He walks and moves with quiet determination and an air of command, almost as if he could bark out an order and one would be obliged to follow through. Ryder’s voice can become low and hypnotic or, or loud and full of will power at the simplest manipulation of a vocal cord. Shoulders high and spine straight, he has had a proper stance cursed into his mind since he was a toddler, and old habits die hard. Properness was the name of the game when one was a Renwick, and so Ryder learnt to put on the show or risk his father’s anger. So well did he learn that he finds it impossible to let go of such notions even now.
With blonde hair and a fringe that is constantly falling into his chilly green eyes, Ryder has the type of face people tend to remember –either due to being attracted to his strong jaw line, or because it was full of a cold anger that simply impregnates one’s conscious. His lips are a light pink, but full and they compose a large mouth that he often uses to articulate. Though normally well spoken, he has been known to twist his maw into a twist of rage capable of spitting out the dirtiest language one could imagine, or whisper vain promises of love into willing ears.

A Slytherin while he was at Hogwarts, Ryder holds all the properties associated with his house: a sense of cunning and manipulation, a stout coldness to his being and an analytical mind capable of quick conclusions and even faster acts. As most people his age, he has an impulsive streak he hasn’t quite manage to bring under control, but he rather think he’s the most calculating individual of the whole lot. Ryder is smarter than your average Joe, and often finds himself bored by what he considers the pathetic attempts of mere mortals to survive. Life is a game to Ryder Renwick, and he prides himself as one of the best chest players one can find. He doesn’t often take matters seriously, instead considering everything but an obstacle to climb over, stomp on and set on fire; easily amused by those below him, Ryder does his best to only associate with people he believes to be on his level.
A spoiled brat, Ryder was born with a golden spoon in his mouth and silver threads composing his bed linen; thus, now, as an 18 year old without an inheritance and no actual liquid richness, Ryder still puts on an air of superiority. His ego might either be his biggest flaw or his saving grace, depending the situation he finds himself in, but at the moment it’s proving to be his undoing, as he refuses to lower himself to the stance of so many others by actually working: he is Ryder Renwick, and his whole existence is about proving himself better than most, and giving those worthy a good time. Prone to complicated mind games, Ryder is saved from his current situation only thanks to the one bloke he’s never toyed with before.
He isn’t sure how long ago it was he came to the realization he was into guys instead of gals, and as far as he can tell it’s always been that way. But he can pinpoint the age of 16 as the moment he realized he was falling in love with his best mate: Balthazar Strathmore. Still, he isn’t the type for settling into any type of relationship, so other than a single kiss on the eve of their leaving Hogwarts, he’s allowed nothing to happen between himself and Balthazar. A playboy all around, Ryder enjoys being free to do whatever he wants with whoever he wants –or, perhaps, rather than a sense of freedom, the thought of getting attached to anyone frightens him. After all, nothing lasts forever, and how do you deal with losing someone you’ve let take over your heart?

It was a cold night and the cobblestones of the ground were covered by a layer of snow, when Ryder Renwick was birthed into this world with a cry erupting from his small lungs. The year was 1993, the day was 15th of July, and winter was active with all its cruelty. Persephone Renwick might have been a cold woman who usually lacked in emotions, but the smile on her face as she curled her first born son into her arms was as genuine as there ever came. Aidan Renwick, however, stood to a side of the room, arms over his chest and an uncaring gesture on his straight features; and such began the relationships that would define Ryder. Through his childhood years, Aidan was seldom present to congratulate his son on any achievements, to lend a shoulder when needed or even give fatherly advice –he was, however, present to teach his son the proper way to act, how to speak and, in general, how to be the epitome of perfection. Persephone, meanwhile, continued to care and love her son, like she’d never loved anyone in her life –not even her husband. And so, Ryder grew, his child years going by in a flash of wealth and social events, with a commodity peculiar in the current situation of the wizarding world: with Voldemort rising, it was honestly only Aidan’s unique position that allowed the family to go mainly unharmed –and yet also fall on the right side of things once the Dark Lord met his maker.
It was hardly a surprise when Ryder received his invitation to Hogwarts in 2002, and much less of one when he was sorted into Slytherin. Life at school held its wonders at first, but as Ryder grew he quickly became bored of it all; by the age of 13, he felt above it all, and would have preferred if he could be privately educated to simply get it done with. School work was never a challenge for him, so watching his fellow students struggle –although amusing at first-, became boring all too fast. All it did was make him feel further superior above them all. There was one boy in his house, however, who, although not quite as smart as Ryder, held potential: he and Balthazar Strathmore became quick friends in first year, and spent their years at Hogwarts competing against one another in various ways.
It mattered not that as they reached their final years at school, Aidan informed Ryder he was to have nothing else to do with the Strathmore boy: the two had a relationship that could not be broken, and Ryder was fast in love with his best mate, loath as he was to admit it. Things would change, however, when, on their last night at school, the two got a tad bit too drunk on firewhiskey they’d smuggled in at the beginning of the year, and in the midst of a hushed conversation, Ryder found himself snogging Balthazar –before wobbling to his feet and running away. The next morning, school was over, and Ryder made a point of staying away from his best mate.
The end of school was supposed to mean no further responsibilities: he’d planned on a few weeks of hard partying, before going off for a few months in Berlin. However, Aidan had news for Ryder: as soon as he returned from his trip, Ryder would need to start working in the family company to learn how to control things. The seventeen year old replied with a sneer and a voice lack of desire to do any such thing; he informed his father that he had no interest in working for the company, and that he would be taking a few years off to mull things over before deciding what he would do with his life. After all, he had the family fortune to support him while he made up his mind. The next day, he left for his trip.
Berlin was six months of utter debauchery: he spent a bit of time getting to see the sights and learn about its magical past, but most of all he spent it partying and doing every type of thing he could imagine and which he was certain his parents would not be happy with. By the time the trip was over, Ryder felt like he’d tried everything, and like life couldn’t be any more perfect. These were the golden years, he decided…
…Wrongly: the instant he arrived back in London, Ryder discovered Aidan had disinherited him. He now has no job, almost no money, and certainly no home. The future is no longer what he thought it would be.
