He glanced at his new pet shop friend. He seemed like a bit of an odd duck. The hair, for example, was half black and half white but he certainly didn't seem like the kind of guy to dye his hair. In fact, he was a bit uptight. But he seemed to genuinely enjoy feline companionship which was something he could certainly relate to.

Gale took a second glance, and pulled his wrap around his shoulders. The woman that walked into the room quickly answer the question. She seemed pleasant enough, and Joy returned the smile.
"Good morning, I'm Joy Torret, I'm sure Arcturus has mentioned me before. I was wondering if Arcturus was awake." She held out the three books. "He left these in his office, I figured I'd return them to him."[…]
So this was Arcturus's mum. The woman seemed nice enough.

A trip wouldn't quite be right before Christmas without visiting Morgana's Novelties - a place on Diagon packed full of Muggle novelties, which he had frequented for quite some time. Not only did she fill her shop with all sorts of curious things to put in his own lonely house, but she'd often some perfect and unexpected presents for his mother. […] Opening the door to Morgana's shop, he breathed in that unique smell of items collected from far and wide, and as the door shut behind him, he gazed about and upwards at what was within. Pulling out his pocketwatch he consulted the time he had, contemplating whether to browse, or allow the good lady Morgana to suggest a few suitable items - her taste as ever, impeccable.

Ordinarily Ignan wasn't one for striking up conversation with entire strangers, but he knew precious little of the actual party attendees […] To have turned around on the spot to face a witch adopting almost exactly the same facial expression as he felt, he'd suddenly felt obliged to speak to her. That and he had the slightest feeling that he recognised her from somewhere, but he couldn't work out where.
