[February 8] Yetis and Lemonade

on May 17, 2013, 08:54:41 PM

CeeCee,

I hope you're doing well and having a lovely February! And staying warm! And writing lots! Every letter from my brother says the same thing, that it's "bloody freezing." It is here, as well, but that's what hats and scarves are for, right?

I found this parchment
[1] in Hogsmeade when I was looking for yoga pants for my friend Connor and thought of you!

Will you be decorating Alohomocha for Valentine’s Day? Are you and Ben doing anything exciting? My mum always makes pink lemonade, even though it’s the middle of winter. She and dad complain about the queues at shops and men scrambling to buy roses at the last minute, but end up dancing around the kitchen with brooms and then each other until a neighbor complains about the music (and then sometimes my brother makes it louder). Muggle brooms, though, the kind you sweep with. I guess wizards use them for sweeping, too. My family is sort of huge like yours, and if they all accidentally have one or two people over, it becomes a big party! The only rule in our house is no store-bought cards! Store-bough parchment is still ok, though, so I hope you like it.

Keep warm and drink lots of hot cocoa,

 1. Cream-colored parchment with a pattern of pale lilac, light blue, and mint green yetis printed on it. The yetis move their arms adorably, roar, and make "scary" (cute) faces. The letter is written on a sheet of it, and attached is a pack of one-hundred sheets.

Lua!

Thank you so so much for thinking of me, why are you so cute, the parchment is totally lovely! (And the yetis! Ohmygod!) I’m afraid I got a bit excited about it, actually—Ben laughed at me when I squealed, the jerk. (Did you find some? Yoga pants, I mean. He was so tall the last time I saw him, I still can’t believe you guys are only, what, 14? Merlin!)

You know, I’m doing so well I’ve been told I’m “sickening,” –high praise, really, coming from that sourpuss of a brother of mine. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to London winters and I’ve been living here for years; guess I’ll always be a Cali girl to the bone, ha ha. But it’s alright, because I have Ben and the cats to keep me warm. (Which is to say, to pile on me whilst I write, and fetch me hot chocolate when I’m in no mood to move, respectively. (; ) For Valentine’s I think we’ll be going to Aruba, actually; he doesn’t like showing it, but Ben’s always hated the cold more than me. It coincides very nicely with his romantic streak, I think.

Speaking of which– yes, of course we will! Or at least, I think so. Madam Manager hadn’t seemed all that skeptical when I proposed renaming the some of the special drinks for the occasion, although I’ll have to check again. What do you think about ‘Just Mint to Be’ and ‘French Vanilla Kiss’?

You know, all this talk about Valentine’s makes me want to try my hand at writing romance for a change. Alohomocha looks like a temptingly good place to start… which I may or may not’ve already begun. How will you celebrate? I better see you there!

With all the love and hot chocolate and things ever,

p.s.- ohmygod, your parents sound adorable

CeeCee,

I’m so glad you like it! Maybe Ben just needs his own parchment. They have some with bunnies, and angry cats, and little howling wolves. They have some mean ones with boggarts and dementors, but maybe only buy those if you're really, really angry! Actually, those sound like break-up parchment, and you two are meant to be. How about the kind with hipogriffs? They bow when they like what you're writing.

We did find some yoga pants for him! They really help show off his flexibility. At least they won’t tear when he tries new positions! I really liked him in the orange and pink gradient ones. And I think he’s even taller now, which means you’ll have to visit Hogsmeade soon to see for yourself!

Your brother sounds like he needs some sweets. You should take him to visit Lysander! (Do you think two sour people will rub off on each other, or would it be more like therapy?) I’d love to visit California... Especially now. But the snow is nice for building miniature versions of Hogwarts. The Durmstrang students make me think this is what summer is like for them. The world is so big and so small, too. Having a Ben to fetch hot chocolate sounds like a really great life plan to me! Take lots of pictures of Aruba, especially in the water. Like stripey fish and starfish and angel fish. Any fish, really! And you! And Ben!

Those drink names are brilliant. If I weren’t a witch, I’d sneak into Diagon Alley just to drink one. But then I might not be able to find Diagon Alley. Hopefully I would still know Connor or Kelvin or someone, and they could sneak me in. Luckily, I’m a witch. Coffee would probably be really hard to owl from London, though. I'll have to beg you and Leon to make me the mint one the next time I'm there, even if it's not until summer.

I’m making gifts for a few people, and I bought a great record of oldies from Reducto. Those warbly slow songs, like Celestina Warbeck’s stuff. They’re brilliant! I’m very glad I’m in Gryffindor because they never seem to mind people playing music when we should all be studying.

See you soon,

Lua,

I’m sure your gifts will be fabulous! Buying them is one thing, when the recipient really wants it, and they just fit, right? Like they show you really know the person, and you keep them and their likes and mind, and aren’t just getting them whatever just for the sake of getting them something. But making gifts is different, and all that effort just goes a long way to saying how much the person means to you. I mean, sometimes I paint, if it feels right.

HEE, thank you! We were playing with puns (well, I was, at any rate, you know how Sander is e-e) and Leon was indulging me, and then we were coming up with stuff and I forget who started it but then BAM. Names.

(I’m almost embarrassed that this is how I get many of my ideas for writing, but then I remember how my brother’s face gets when I tell him that, so)

Witch or not, I am sure you’d somehow find your way to Diagon Alley! I can’t imagine otherwise. And whenever you visit, one of us will whip you up one, no matter the season; we can leave it at ‘taste-testing’, right? That way we can be totally sure the drinks will be ready by their debut. I’m sure Madam Manager would understand~

My brother could use one himself, actually—he orders waaaaaay too much black coffee, which I am very nearly sure is the reason why he is such a sourpuss. Anyone would be bitter, I think, if that was all they’re tasting. (although our black coffee is awesome, and Leon makes it best)

You know, that sounds like a fantastic idea. I will definitely ask him that and see what he thinks. He owes me a visit, if nothing else!  (◕ヮ◕   )

Oh my god, of course I will!!! I have very specific plans for that. There will be shoots. Ben knows this.

(Heh, I must have some kind of look on my face, because he looked slightly alarmed before pretending he wasn’t looking. He’s so silly.)

Actually, I plan on dropping by very soon! You and Connor will show me what you two’ve learned while I’ve been away, yes? Perhaps I’ll get Baby Bro to accompany me, too. I’ll see if I can find us a place to practice; maybe Dora will know.

Say hi to your friends for me!

p.s.- I hope you like the cream puffs! Sander’s been experimenting.

CeeCee,

I’m glad you and Leon are putting more puns into Sander’s life. Please make him smile more! I think I did get to see him smile once, but it might have been a grimace. I’m going with smile! I bet loads of people would be queuing up for your pun coffee. Mostly because it’s delicious! I would love if you could slip a Mint to Be in off-season for me without anyone noticing. Or whatever you’re serving by spring!

(I think your writing process sounds brilliant, not silly or embarrassing. You should do whatever works for you.)

One of my brothers sometimes drinks his coffee black, too. It’s a very brother-y thing, it sounds like. But usually only if he has a hangover.

I can see the loveliness already! Give this giant HI to Ben for me!

That would be AMAZING. I’m sure Connor would love it. Pandora Puddifoot? She can join, too, if she likes!

I’ll say hi to everyone! I need to dash for lessons!

Keep in touch,

PS: The creampuffs are MAGNIFICENTLY DELICIOUS. Thank you so, so much!!
