Those sympathetic to the wizarding criminal underworld are welcome to come enjoy high quality ales, whiskeys and drinks as well as like-minded company. Those needing a discrete place to rest their head for a while are also welcome to take a room at the inn. Free from the eyes of Level 2, it's also an ideal place for anti-Ministry plotting and conspiring. The main room of the new subterranean pub is nestled between the roots of a large, old-growth oak. Several smaller meeting and 'multi-purpose' rooms branch off from the main pub, stretching out into the root systems of neighboring trees. The inn and Cináed Tawse's new primary residence are in a rugged, wooden cabin built into the oak's canopy. Location & Access The Black Chimaera's new location is part of a grove of trees in a vast stretch of forest deep within Northern Scotland. A small, willow-lined stream and lake lie a few hundred meters to the Northeast. This stretch of forest is at about 750 meters (2400 feet) elevation with long, gentle sloping hills being the topography of the immediate surrounding areas.There are no roads or towns - muggle or wizarding - for several leagues in any direction. Small, lightly beaten game trails are the only discernible tracks in the vicinity. Though not inaccessible by foot, this approach is easier said than done. While the nearby terrain is easy and gentle, the surrounding area can be rough and rugged. An approach by foot requires negotiating steep slopes, scree slopes and cliff faces. The Black Chimaera's residents and guests reach the underground pub by way of a portkey found deep in the cellar of The Black Widow. Knowledge of this portkey is spread by word of mouth and only those who gain the trust of Nicola Randall are able to utilize the portkey. Most new potential clients are expected to answer a few basic questions, under the influence of a short-acting truth serum, to ensure their loyalty to the pub, it's tenants or the Wizarding Blood Alliance. Even if one were to reach the tree's location by foot, the underground pub and treehouse inn & residence has no physical, direct entry. The pub has no door, only hillside windows. The treehouse has no external ladder or access to the ground - a staircase up through the center of the tree is the only entrance or egress. Protections & Charms The Fidelius Charm is the pub's first and foremost means of concealment and protection. Fidelius Charms have been placed on the Chimaera's physical location as well as the access portkey. Nicola Randall is the secret keeper. The portkey that accesses the pub is very small - a bottle cap that can only accommodate one or two travelers at a time.The pub's isolated location provides additional security. Even regular visitors to the pub can only see a few meters into the forest in any given direction and there are no unique landmarks. Additionally, Mannie, the ghost, has taken up the routine of patrolling the forest around the forest grove, keeping an eye out for both intruders and potentially tasty passing game. The Chimaera has been fortified with a variety of other defense and concealment charms, in the event the wrong person does manage to make it past the Fidelius Charm. Repello Muggletum, Protego totalum and Muffliato cast on the pub's windows and the tree house help minimize detection from those in the physical vicinity. The Robin Hood ConnectionEspecially since Cináed's flight from the Ministry in January of 2009, an analogy has been developing between the Robin Hood legends and the way the WBA organizer views himself, the Ministry and the role of the WBA.
