    Full Character Name: Gwenna Trevelyan
    Character Birthday & Age: 13; August 13
City & Country of Birth: Exeter, Devon, UK
    Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Halfblood
House & Year: Third Year Gryffindor

Wand: Nine and one quarter inches, hazel, phoenix feather.  Rigid with a spiraled shaft.

    Physical Description:
When she's spotted in the midst of her family, it's easy to see Gwenna's resemblance to both of her parents.  Her warm olive skin and facial features most neatly echo her mother, whose family originally comes from Vietnam, but her smile and the reddish-brown undertones to her hair evoke memories of her father.  Although she's average height for her age, she still hasn't (and perhaps never will) grown out of her youthful roundness.

Gwen takes great pride in sounding less educated than she really is; she likes to use rough language, and is quick to launch into accents and mimicry.  She does not like wizarding robes, and would much prefer to be running rampant in her usual Muggle clothing.

    Personality Description:
If you ever need a friend to go toe-to-toe with a zombie, Gwenna's your girl.  She takes great pride in being courageous and practically fearless, and will loudly tell everyone about it every chance she gets.  In fact, she'll loudly tell everyone about most things, even when it's obvious that she's slightly muddled on the facts or that any sane person can tell that she's probably exaggerating.

Gwenna loves being the center of attention, and she loves acting like she has all the facts. This often proves to be an undesirable combination, especially in class, where most professors have probably come to dread her perpetual hand in the air.  She loves things that "normal people" would consider gross or scary: terrifying excursions into the Forbidden Forest, large, disgusting insects and horrible, brain-eating zombies, although she has luckily moved beyond her aspiration to be a swamp creature when she grows up because it sounds like Cursebreaking has the potential to be more interesting, while also terrifying for her parents.

Underneath it all, Gwenna still feels insecure and wants very much to know that authority figures and her friends approve of her.  But that is a very deep, dark secret that she'd hate to ever admit. After all, it's much easier to announce to someone that your dad is going to arrest them or that you'll bite them and infect them with zombie germs than it is to try and live up to expectations.

    History:
From the moment that she figured out the math, Gwenna took great pride in the notion that she was the Family Accident. Her parents were married in a hurry a scant three months before she was born. That made her considerably more important than her younger brother, whose birth barely required the advent of any legal documentation at all.

Growing up, her childhood was relatively pleasant.  Gwenna spent her early years down in Exeter until the family decided to move back to London soon after her younger brother Artie was born, both so that their mother could be closer to her own family and so she could take a new, better paying job in the city.  Not long after the move, though, the Trevelyan family life began to deteriorate.  Gwenna's father began spending longer and longer away from home; her mother, fed up, eventually told him that she wanted a divorce.

The split devastated Gwenna.  For so long, she had smugly taken credit for her parents' marriage; now, her father had seemingly abandoned her and her brother, and her mum split her time between being perpetually short-tempered and crying when she thought the children couldn't see.  Gwenna dealt with the situation by acting out; soon, her parents were both being called in for conferences at school regarding her sudden declaration that she was a swamp creature, and subsequent flooding of the school loo, and her poor brother lived in perpetual terror that he might be the victim of her next zombie attack.

But slowly, slowly, things began to get better.  First, a strange man disguised as Santa Claus broke into their house through the Floo one day.  A few weeks later, her father returned to her life in a hurry, with the confession that he was actually a wizard -- something that Gwenna claimed she had suspected for a long time.  Though this meant new, frightening dangers, it also meant that her parents began quietly trying to work things out.

Gwenna was pulled out of school the last few months before the school year ended.  Instead, she and Artie began spending their days in independent classes run by a local elderly witch who was a friend of her father.  When her letter for Hogwarts finally came, she was elated.  Obviously, she was due to be a witch and wield a wand just like her dad.

During her first two years of school, Gwenna has adored life at Hogwarts.   She spends most of her time with her housemate Noah Pratt trying to figure out ways to sneak into the Forbidden Forest, as obviously things are only forbidden if they're too interesting for adults.  For her third year, she is incredibly excited that she finally gets to take the interesting classes, like  Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Gwenna was determined to become a Gryffindor from the moment that she first learned about the idea of Hogwarts Houses.  When her turn came to put on the Sorting Hat, she squeezed her eyes shut and thought "GRYFFINDOR GRYFFINDOR GRYFFINDOR" as loudly as she could until the Hat shouted it out.  It took all of two seconds.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Spunky and outspoken, and maybe just a tad bit bossy, Gwenna Trevelyan has come to Hogwarts with sky-high enthusiasm and wild expectations.  Though she has mostly left her career as a zombie behind her, she's excited to explore all of the new terrors that the magical world surely has in store.

P.S.  This is entirely Mel's fault.
