Physical Description: Eva Lawrence stands 65 inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes. She is a small and athletic with dense muscles that are barely noticeable, making her stronger than she appears. At first glance, she appears rather boyish in her manner and dress with the exception of her bright round face. However, Eva’s slight curves reveal hints of her femininity beneath her oftentimes genderless clothing.
For the most part, Eva doesn’t pay much particular attention to her appearance or its appeal to others. She just pulls on whatever functional clothing is close at hand and goes about her day. Her thoughtless attitude towards her attire usually results in at least a few somewhat odd or quirky accessories. Because she attends Beauxbatons, she is required to wear the very girly uniform like everyone else. It looks very good on her but makes her uncomfortable. Some of her only disciplinary offenses at school are wardrobe related, either as a result of her constant fidgeting or because she failed to completely finish her uniform.
Eva has a bright and engaging smile when she chooses to use it fully but in most situations, when she is amused, she has a small, uneven grin. When she is tickled by something in particular, she even wrinkles her nose.
Personality Description: Overall, Eva is a warm and friendly person. She gives almost everyone she meets with a distant respect of them as living beings with their own personality and point of view. She relates to people remarkably well for someone who immerses herself in animal behavior. She’s good at relating the things she notices between human and animal behavior. This means that she has very keen observational skills and the problem solving abilities to apply what she learns to real life situations.
When Eva is happy and relaxed, she can be incredibly bright, outgoing, and fun. In many ways she behaves in a very young manner when she’s like that, taking a lot of joy in simple, sometimes childlike activities like dancing around her room in her pjs. She makes friends fairly easily but has only a few very close ones. For the most part she is on good terms with her acquaintances.
Her ability and desire to focus intently on a subject of study can sometimes lead her to overlook people, especially ones who appear to have nothing valuable to offer her in that moment or in regards to her current subject. She sees them and notices them and can even interact quite normally with them but she won’t take them seriously until they prove themselves knowledgeable or capable. This isn’t part of any meanness, just an accident of her prioritization methods.
Eva as a soft spot for children because, like animals, they possess a certain amount of innocence. They do not typically lie, they do not typically scheme or threaten and they require a great deal of guidance and focus in order to grow up. When around children, she tends to devote a lot of attention to them and almost always tries to teach or educate them in some way, especially when they show an interest in her animals. Eva loves to show off her plants and animals and teach people all about them, often correcting misinformation and preconceptions along the way. Asking her about them or admiring them is the fastest way to get her to open up and she can talk at length about them. However, they are her first priority and she will abandon a conversation in order to care for or pursue an animal in distress.
Eva’s wand, with cherry wood in combination with Dragon Heartstring, is a challenging entity that requires a strong will and focused mind. Control is something within her ability to obtain but, because she is still very young, her emotions have a tendency to interfere. When she is stressed or upset about something, she has difficulty controlling the feelings which result in unpredictable side effects when performing magic.
History: As her then youngest child, Chester, grew closer to the age when he would leave the home and go to school, Mathilda Lawrence grew anxious about her soon to be empty home. Because of this anxiety, Mathilda convinced her husband to have one last child. Eva was born in the late spring of 1992, nearly ten years younger than her closest sibling in age. Mathilda clung to Eva throughout early development, homeschooling her basic information. Like all of her other children, Mathilda was careful to teach Eva the French and English languages from a young age to ensure that she was fluent enough to attend her alma mater, Beauxbatons, in France.
Even at a young age Eva took her schooling seriously and concentrated very well. She took to the English language quickly but knew only enough French to barely scrape by the admissions process for the elite school. Even so, this was mostly because her older brother, Chaz, wrote to her constantly in the French language to help her practice, something that continued after he graduated from school himself.
She and Chaz were always the closest out of the siblings, probably because they were the closest in age. The two eldest siblings were practically adults by the time she was old enough to choose her own relationships and were not nearly as interesting as her fun architect brother who lived in Paris with his boyfriend. Young and a bit naive, Eva didn’t really understand why Chaz had fallen out of favor with the family. Her parents stopped talking about him almost overnight while her older siblings did nothing but snark and complain. When she grew up she would begin to understand her parents’ old fashioned views on same-sex liaisons but never learned to agree with them. Although she does not resent the old fashioned beliefs of her family the way Chaz does, she doesn’t follow them herself. For the most part, she understands them as separate from her real life (or her life at school).
Eva was always good at distinguishing between her family obligations and her ‘real’ life. She wasn’t happy with having to sit nicely at the table like a proper young lady while the grown ups talked about boring things but she endured it like any child would, by whining and fidgeting until her parents got fed up and sent her off to play. When she was released from her obligations, Eva spent as much time as she could outdoors. She loved to be alone in the woods and would often come back grubby with her clothes messed up and twigs in her hair. She didn’t like getting in trouble for ruined clothing and eventually chose to dress down all the time rather than deal with her mother complaining about wasted money.
Like all students, Eva had to apply to attend Beauxbatons and despite her somewhat weak French skills, she was a perfect candidate because she prized individual achievement and hands on learning above all things. This is due to the deficit of such things while she grew up. When she arrived at Beauxbatons she was thirsty for knowledge and anxious to prove herself. By the time she reached fifth year and was asked to choose a specific course of study, she had discovered her affinity for plants and animals. She liked the way they required her near constant time and attention in order to thrive in captivity.
In honor of her decision, which was decidedly against her mother’s fondest wishes, her brother Chaz bought her a Green Tree Python as a gift. She named him Poppi, a quirky nickname for Apophis, and fell in love immediately. He matured into a lovely pale blue color with light green ticks along his body. As she learned more and more about her pet snake, she developed a method of interpreting his moods and personality that carried over to the other living things she cared for as a part of her curriculum.
When she left to spend her final year at Hogwarts for the Tetrawizard Tournament, she was forced to leave Poppi behind because he was not one of the accepted pets at Hogwarts. It was incredibly hard decision and she almost decided to forgo the opportunity in favor of looking after her animals. After receiving assurance from her older sister that she would look after Poppi, Eva reluctantly decided to attend Hogwarts with her pet owl so she could keep in contact with her family.

Why Was The Student Allowed/Permitted To Attend The Tournament?: Eva asked to go to Hogwarts for the Tetrawizard Tournament because of the opportunity to study a variety of magical creatures not native to France. In addition, she is keen to round off her education by studying human and animal combination creatures like merpeople and centaurs. She feels that they might be able to give communicate in human terms and more animalistic point of view which would lend to a greater understanding of her subject. Her request was approved because she is an intelligent and dedicated young woman with good grades. On top of that, she has the intelligence and resourcefulness that would make her an excellent candidate for a school Champion.
