Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Halfblood
House & Year: Hufflepuff, 1st Year

Physical Description: Aoife stands short at 4'7 and stocky with 89lbs of a combination of fat and muscle from eating and working on her mother's farm. Her arms are quite muscular for her age along with her thick legs. She doesn't carry herself well, often slumping or leaning back when she sits. This slumping, among other things occasionally gives her back problems. She is slightly fair with a lot of freckles from working and playing in the sun, often forgetting to put on a sun potion.
Her hair is a muddy brown and cut so the bottom falls at her mouth. It is thick hair and hard to tame without spells or magical products, hence why it's kept short. Her eyes are a similar brown and squint a lot as if Aoife was always looking directly at the sun. Her face had quite a bit of freackles just like her body, mostly concentrated around her cheeks. Her cheeks were also quite red and often sunburned. She has full lips that are good at pouting, though she doesn't really put them to use much.
Personality Description: Two of her most outstanding qualities are her cheerfulness and clever thinking. Her mother giving her responsibilities at a young age has made her mature for her age. Aoife is mostly smiling and almost always ready to help someone out. Despite her low grades in a Muggle primary school, Aoife seems to be developing her magic skills at a normal rate.
While she is always ready to help a classmate with their homework, don't be fooled. While well meaning, she is usually helping so she can procrastinate doing her own homework. Aoife is notoriously lazy when it comes to what she considers menial tasks. If it doesn't involve animals, plants, or sports, expect her to put it off again and again until she can't put it off anymore.
Another skill she never learned is tact. While growing up with a very snark filled mother did not help, Aoife never learned to know what's appropriate to say and what is not. This has driven many potential friends at primary school away from her. Her mother hopes that her experience at Hogwarts can teach her to not procrastinate and how to bite her tongue.
Aoife's passion is cooking, having watched the local baker from a young age Aoife always bothered her mother, asking if they could bake or could they buy this food so she could try a recipe, not that she could try much at her age. Aoife often wishes that she could learn to cook more at Hogwarts, and hopes to become a master magical chef.
Her second passion is creatures. Whether they are regular or magical, chances are that Aoife will love them. Her favorite job on the farm was feeding the animals. Although cleaning up after them was never fun.
One particular quirk of Aoife's is that she hardly wears shoes. She's had a unique shoe size since she was seven, leading to her mother just telling her to go barefoot while indoors. With Hogwarts came appropriate shoes but Aoife was still in the habit of going barefoot outside of class, often keeping her school socks and shoes in her red school bag.
History: Aoife was not born in the most peaceful times, she was born during the Second Wizarding War. Born in the Selwyn home after the Selwyn sisters had let the pregnant American Muggleborn witch Karen Moffett had let her stay after she had been abandoned by her pureblood husband. After the war had ended, the sisters used their wealth to buy a farm just outside Feeny, Northern Ireland for her to run.
Despite her lack of a father, Aoife's childhood was happy. It is true that she didn't have much to play with, Karen refused to use magic to improve the crops, considering it cheating, but Aoife could make her own fun most of the time. She was put to work on the farm as soon as she could handle feeding the animals, and she only gained more jobs and experience there.
When she was eight, Karen noticed that Aoife had quite the reaction time, being able to move quickly before falling objects hit her. But what she noticed most was her love of cooking. At ten, Aoife tried to do all she could to help her mother with making food, but still being a young girl, she couldn't do a whole lot. Karen appreciated the help anyway.
Soon enough, the Hogwarts letter came. Aoife complained for a week about how she couldn't go right away due to when her birthday was. Finally, Karen told her to stop complaining and be happy that she would get a head start on a lot of her classmates. She then took Aoife to buy her books and supplies.
The Sorting Hat wasted little to no time sorting her into Hufflepuff. But to be honest, Aoife would have been happy anywhere, not knowing much about Hogwarts since her mother had never been there. She quickly settled in, enjoying the food and dreaming of being able to prepare the Halloween and Christmas feasts all by herself. As for classes, Aoife was surprised at how well she managed at Transfiguration. She is currently attempting to transfigure a piece of amber she found as a young child, and a chain into a necklace. Despite her mostly good grades in classes, Aoife remains as lazy as ever when it comes to homework. She often procrastinates until the last minute to do it, and it shows in the sloppiness of her homework. Luckily for her she can get through her class lectures and participate enough to make up for it.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Aoife is a very loyal, group oriented person. Though she has driven many people away through her lack of tact, what she wants even more than to become a chef is to have close friends. Aoife is also very hardworking, taught by her mother that you can't get anything good without working hard for it, assuming it's not written homework Aoife will give it her all.
One thing that cooking has taught Aoife is patience, she is willing to do things again and again until she gets it right. Another quality she has is tolerance. While ther is one exception, she is very tolerant and accepting of a lot of people. While she does believe in some stereotypes, she is quick to drop them once she sees they're not true.
Writing Sample: The King's Cross Station had quite a busy day today. There were people in robes as usual, but the King's Cross regulars had gotten used to seeing them at this time of the year. Outside, a large purple triple-Decker bus grinded to a halt. Out stepped a woman and a school aged girl. The woman looked a bit woozy while the girl jumped out happily.
"Mum! We're here-" She stopped once she saw her mother holding her head. "You can't be worn out now! We weren't even on that long."
"I don't think I'll ever get used to that Knight Bus." The mother replied in an American accent, taking a deep breath before removing her hand from her head. "Do you have your trunk?"
Just as she asked that question, the conductor threw a middle sized dark red trunk into the mother's arms. She had to act quickly to catch and hold it. The Knight Bus then sped off.
"Thanks a lot..." She muttered under her breath before seeing that her daughter had gone inside already. "Aoife, wait for me! you're going to get lost!" She yelled, rushing after the girl.
Sum up your character in one paragraph: Although she has little to no tact and is quite lazy, Aoife is genuinely a good, loyal, and quite bright for her age Hufflepuff. She is determined to make her house and mother proud by becoming a master magical chef. She does have her prejudice against pure-bloods but her mother hopes that Hogwarts can expose her to more people and creatures so Aoife becomes a well rounded and smart young woman.
