    Physical Description:

Avalon, like most children, carries only the best of his parents. He has his father's dark hair and bright blue eyes, a stark contrast to his mother's ivory skin and eager expressions.

Over the past few years he's grown well over three inches, placing him at eye level now with the rest of his class, and making his mother's willowy build work to his advantage.

Very rarely does he wear color, keeping his palette neutral and calm, and being the child of an artist many feel this is rather strange. He favors well worn rags and items that can transition from indoor to out with ease.

A mute child, Avalon always carries a leather satchel with a leather strap that runs across his chest with his sketchbook, art supplies, and various other writing utensils he uses to communicate. He was taught sign language by muggle instructors, but only uses it in frustration with his parents. Some of his closer friends have picked up little bits in an attempt to make an effort to accommodate him, but he never reacts well upon the discovery having only ever wanted to just feel the same as everyone else. Instead he prefers to over come those obstacles with over expressive faces and eyes that can answer even the most complex questions with a very pointed glass.

    Personality Description:

Avalon is a great friend, and is rather perfect for telling your deepest darkest secrets. He's bright and cheerful despite his obstacles with proper communication, and is a very dedicated student. However, despite his fast script he often gets frustrated when he can't make his point fast enough.

When a lesson comes along with a spell or charm that can not be performed silently at first attempt (or at all) he tries to pretend it doesn't bother him, but in truth it's the only time he truly feels a failure and he takes it to heart. This causes him to sink into a mild depression that he often pulls himself out of by spending hours painting pictures that would even make his mother blush. However, despite himself he rarely lets it get him down.

He enjoys working the puzzle of life and trying to find himself fitting in. The struggle to get there only makes him feel triumphant upon the arrival to the end, and smiles more than any other student in his house and year. He is very much his mother's son by the way he's often daydreaming and writing little short stories on the back of napkins, but has his father's drive and determination.  When another student is in need of a hand, Avalon is the first to offer, and wishes to make that his task someday in working along charitable organizations in the Wizarding World; especially those with restrictions that make the every day a task.

Avalon has a deep love of music, that often has him dancing in his dorm to a small phonograph player his father got him for Christmas one year. His mother, blown away at the idea of a school not having computers or allowing MP3 players simply shook her head, but the phonograph is a much loved device that he loves to share with others.

A strong willed young man, he tried to ignore his father's research on ways to provide him with a voice, knowing now the ease it has brought upon other classmates with similar problems, and put it aside as not for his own use. He enjoys the fight to overcome his differences, and has done well enough without it.  However, with the Ravenclaw Prefect position open, the temptation is there.

    History:

Born during one of the most celebrated holidays, Avalon was named after an obsession that brought his parents together. His father, Ravus, a wizarding ironworker who grew up in one of Wales' oldest cities, (Often rumored Merlin himself was born) met Fairy loving Muggle and children's illustrator/author Mairwen at a Arthurian festival just outside of his hometown. Captivated by her eccentric personality and whimsical attire, Ravus found balance to his bleak and otherwise empty life, and they were married within the year.
Mairwen continued her study of the Fae, and brought home more theories than her wizard husband could count. But he never had the heart to tell her the truth, and did his best to protect her from ever finding it. His family didn't approve of his love of the muggle woman, and threatened to disown him if he ever told her the truth. Of course this wouldn't be the only thing he left his wife in the dark about, but at least they could live an ordinary life in an ancient town.

Avalon came into the world like a lion, but lived it a lamb. His cries echoed through the halls of the hospital, but he spent his first few years hardly ever making a sound. It wasn't until his third birthday party did his mother start to question her sons inability to speak when witnessing much of the other children  could complete at least small sentences and express their wishes by more than just babbling. After many trips to the doctor and even seeing a specialist in London, it was determined he had a very severe case of developmental apraxia, but no matter the amount of speech therapy, Avalon never spoke. He was taught sign language during his years at the muggle schools, and beyond that his father did research of his own in the wizarding world he'd nearly forgotten about.

Ravus, who had kept his wizarding blood a secret from his wife often worried it was a curse from his disapproving family, but he doubted even they would be so cruel. However, no matter how much his wife worked to keep up the ruse of their 'perfectly normal' life, he had to worry if raising a mute son wasn't some sort of punishment for a selfish mistake of being in love, but that was pushed aside as the years came and went.

Despite his inability to speak, Avalon lived a very normal life, and quickly learned to communicate on other mediums. He learned to write at a much younger age and even used little drawings to explain himself to other people. He became very observant and learned a lot about a person just by spending a few minutes with them, but it was his father hid the most. And he became his greatest enigma. However, his father knew he was a bright child and would someday learn he was different in ways no specialist could diagnose, and Ravus worried of the day he would have to tell his family the truth.

When Avalon's 11th birthday came, and an owl came with a letter all of those concerns were put aside. And though his father lied to his mother and said it was a proper boarding school for wayward artists with similar handicaps, Avalon could read his father's expression like a map and grew more and more excited as the time came to learn the truth.

During his years at Hogwarts, Avalon excelled in school, took to his lessons very well despite his father's concerns, and understood why his mother couldn't know. Her over protective nature would have never let him atop a broom, and he would miss the chance to be one best Chasers for his house! And though his inability to speak  had him casting non-verbal spells much earlier than the rest it required late hours of private tutoring and much more work than he ever imagined.  There were many struggles that he had to overcome in his early years, but now in his 6th he feels as average as the rest.

His love for Quidditch came to a surprise to his father and even for himself, but he took to it well.  It took many practices and long hours of dedication to get a spot on the team, but his willowy frame gave him the agility and speed perfect for his position. With a poster of Roger Davies on his wall, Avalon dreams of going pro despite his more realistic ideals of what is to be expected from the young student.

Socially, Avalon fit in well, having friends in nearly every circle he often worried that his classmates took pity on him and accepted him despite their better judgement, but after a few years and proving himself a worthy challenge in both the classroom and the quidditch pitch, Avalon felt he earned that spot properly.

When he isn't studying, at practice, in one of the many clubs, or dancing about his dorm to the latest records Avalon spends as much time with his friends as he truly can. And in his later years at Hogwarts has even taken up to composing little art books of the many doodles he's made throughout the years in attempt to keep everyone laughing and spirits high.
