[Jan 11] Art is Everywhere [Art Club] on April 10, 2013, 08:46:19 PM January 11, 5 pmSitting on a desk close to the chalkboard in the empty classroom, Addison couldn't help but to fidget nervously. She had hung up announcements around the school for this art club meeting, maintaining that any student in the castle was more than welcome to attend. After all, they had plenty of guests roaming the castle. It was her intention, so far anyway, to use this meeting more for a meet and greet type of event. She would love to show any simple tutorials of drawing or some aspects of drawing enhanced with magic. Perhaps even a preliminary discussion of Valentine's Day next month as well. There were just so many opportunities! The words 'Art Club' were written in her neat handwriting on the chalkboard behind her. Throughout her last class, Ancient Runes, her anxieties were already running. What if no one came? What if no one was interested in what she was doing? What if she was deemed incompetent by whoever came? All the 'what if' statements flowed through her mind, and she had to consistently attempt to block those thoughts out. Now, as she sat in the classroom waiting for other students to arrive, Addison couldn't help but to let out a short sigh. Grabbing her bag nearby on the desk, she pulled out her sketchpad that she brought with her. Taking out a pencil, she started to doodle lightly in her sketchbook to pass the time as she waited for others to come. When he heard about the Art Club, his first instinct was to be very excited and find out how to join it, but now that he stopped to think about it, he didn't have much experience with art making. Would he be the wost member of the club? Maybe, he thought, but I am here to learn, and I want to learn this. Everybody has to start somewhere..."Hmmm, hello?", said Thales slightly nervous, entering the classroom. "I'd like to join the club, if that's alright. My name is Thales, by the way, nice to meet you!"He smiled at the lady who was doodling on her sktechbook. There was no going back now, he supposed. So when she walked in it was with a smile and a spring in her step, drawing pad and loose paper clutched into her arms. She then plopped down into a seat and sprawled the papers over the desk, a mess that left bits of a half-dozen caricatures exposed."Am I early," she said, glancing about the room as she did so. The room didn't seem too full yet. And it was Art Club, lots of people had to show up. Even if they weren't there yet.So, with a shrug, she pulled a quill out from behind her ear and started a sketch on a half-empty piece of paper while she waited. She was mainly caught up with the lines and other little items that she was drawing on the page. That was mainly how she acted while drawing, unless she had to communicate for some reason while producing art. Give her a pad and a pencil, and she could spend hours drawing and have no idea what was going on around her. "Hmmm, hello?", said Thales slightly nervous, entering the classroom. "I'd like to join the club, if that's alright. My name is Thales, by the way, nice to meet you!"It finally dawned on Addison that it was probably quite rude of her to be doodling as she was supposed to be waiting for other students to be showing up. When the first year caught her attention, she was surprised to hear another voice. Quickly regaining her composure, she smiled. Someone was interested in joining! Yes, that was a good thing."Welcome Thales! I'm Addison, and it's nice to meet you too. Yes, it's perfectly fine to join!" she exclaimed joyfully, as she placed her sketchpad on the desk. Soon after Thales's entrance, Zeta came into the room as well, carrying many pieces of paper scattered around. While she attempted to keep herself organized, Addison had plenty of times where she ran around in the same fashion. "Hi Zeta!" she greeted her classmate with a smile. Looking around the room, there was a small group of them currently gathered in the room together. That certainly surpassed the amount that she expected to come, which was no one at all. Nevertheless, more could always show up during the course of the meeting. 'Well, I guess now's a good time to start...' she thought to herself. "Thank you all for coming to the Art Club. I figured that it would be a good idea to have at vague idea of everyone's artistic ability. By all means, it's fine if your abilities aren't fully grown yet. But, as a group, I believe that we could help each other out, and maybe teach each other tips or other various ways to do things. For my part ..." she started as she held up the sketch pad that she had been doodling in before, "I was just drawing a half-finished classroom with various books and other items strewn about. Not quite like this room, but I think you get the idea." Giving the group a smile, she looked around at the others. "So, would anyone else like to share?" she asked. Obviously, she couldn't force anyone to share, but she would highly doubt that she would actually have to anyway. (ooc: If anyone else wants to join, feel free to!) What was one more year in the club anyway? He rather enjoyed it a little more now that he was one of the older students who still tagged along in a club, but at least he wasn't playing chess! Avalon stepped in the room, without his robes and without his proper attire, and looked like any average high school student in the muggle world. His supplies and his sketch book were tucked under one arm while both of his hands were buried deep in his pockets in attempt to shield off the cold. Perhaps he should have at least worn a jacket. With a silent smile to the room he said his greeting, happy to support Addison, and very happy to see one of the first years from his house. With a ruffle to Thales' hair he took a seat near the boy, and waited for the meeting to begin. He would let them share first, not wanting to put any pressure on the younger ones. Which meant, as she tried to draw, the her hair of brown and green covered the paper and she frequently had to brush it off.It was because of her hair that she didn't want to share or say much as Addison and the others in the group talked. Not that Obderedria talked much at Art Club meetings anyways. If there was one bonus because of her predicament, it was that she had an easier time shying away by hiding her head under her hair--the great carpet of green bruised brown that it was--such as when the older Ravenclaw student entered the room.[2] 1. After Jan 8th, there's a lot more hair to the speckled haired Hufflepuff, as seen in her status bump in the signature. 2. Zeta leaned over to look at Addison's drawing, grinning. "It looks as if everyone just rushed out for break." She spun a pencil around in her fingers and accidentally hit the unsteady stack of papers she'd haphazardly placed on the desk. They spilled everywhere, sprawling over the floor in a mess of lines and smudges and little bits of color, some of which were recognizable as caricatures of the various professors. Zeta's mouth froze into the shape of an 'o' for a bit, before turning to a frown. "Oops."She scrambled down from her seat and started to stack them back together, or at least the ones within reach. "Had a really good one of Professor McDonough...somewhere." Maybe it hadn't been smudged too bad. She was really proud of that one. He didn't expect to have to turn some of his work that early, otherwise he would have come more prepared, he thought while glancing over his astronomy notebook. When he finally chose one, Zeta spilled her papers around the room."Oh my... let me help you."He picked some of the drawings and put on her desk, before returning to his seat and showing one of his own."Well, it's not very good, especially compared to yours, but it's what I have.", he said smiling to Adison, while he showed a page of his notebook where he tried to draw a sphinx, but left her face blank. "I tried to draw faces a few times before, but I had no luck getting the proportions right, it always looks a little... askew..."Thales sighed, luckily the club would help him get better at it, he hoped. He was the oldest member in the club so far, and already regretting his choice to join. The room was full of 4th years and 1st years, with their little scribbles on blank pages, and though he was nearly half tempted to get up and leave. Avalon knew that everyone had to start somewhere, and just for the sake of his sanity would leave his sketchbook in his bag for now. For now he would stick close to Thales, a first year Ravenclaw and just be reinforcement--all the while praying that none of his peers would see him settled in with all the younger students.
