Physical Description: Jonothan is a tall, broad shouldered young man. He is not ripped or muscular in the traditional sense, but still athletic and strong, as if he was made of concrete. He isn't a towering presence, at six feet tall, he still stands out in some crowds and can blend right in to others. Jonothan is square jawed, not incredibly good looking, but not ugly either. He has a a certain rough and tumble look about him, like a bruised Clark Kent. Jonothan keeps his hair close cropped, not a buzz cut, but not windswept shagginess. Occasionally he can comb it and clean up well, but must mornings he runs his fingers through it and calls it a day. Typically, his hair is a darker shade of brown, though it looks lighter in good light and during the summer. If you asked him what color it was, he'd say simply, "Brown. I dunno, maybe dark brown." His lower class, hardworking upbringing is apparent in every inch of his face and body. He no longer looks like a boy, but he is not yet a man. Jonothan can usually be found in "well loved" blue jeans and various flannel shirts (with the sleeves rolled up, naturally), and his idea of dressing up is his one pair of khakis and a white button up shirt. Maybe his lucky blue tie if it's an extra special occasion. The summer after fifth year, he started sprouting facial hair for the first time, and he didn't shave it once in hopes of having a rugged look to finally attract a date. To his dismay, it was still think and patchy, so he shaved right before leaving for Hogwarts, but he can still be caught letting it grow, just in case.
Personality Description: Jonothan is very much his parents' son, he respected them as his best teachers, even though he still occasionally disobeyed and found himself in trouble. Because of this, he shares their core values, and he holds those values in the highest regard. He believes in hard work above everything, and that anything can be gained through enough effort. The other main lesson he learned from them was to stay humble, and he is ironically very proud of his humility. He does his best to keep his head down and not let his ego get out of control, but he often has trouble balancing that with his desires to become something more than his lower class origins. He doesn't crave power, per se, but validation and respect.
Jonothan is very shy, in keeping with his quiet demeanor, but when he finds friends, he cares for them passionately and is fiercely loyal. With that strong loyalty comes trust, and he gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, even when he shouldn't. This tends to get him into even more trouble, as he can be talked into almost anything by his friends, despite his better judgement.
Jonothan's biggest love in life is sports, he grew up playing rugby and hockey, and now is a strong quidditch player. He isn't awash with natural talent, but love of the game, the aforementioned hard work, and a willingness to do the little things instead of play superstar make him an asset to any team. Jonothan isn't a particularly eloquent speaker, and he can be shy due to a fear of looking like a fool. This made making friends difficult when he was young, but with sports he was able to find the camaraderie he craved.
Lastly, Jonothan is of mostly average intelligence. He is no dummy, and has a very solid understanding of the world around him, but he isn't great in classes, and has little patience for studying. Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration are his best subjects (Transfiguration especially, because he took to it naturally and thus rarely has to practice); Potions and Charms are his worst (especially Charms, the more flamboyant wand movements give him endless trouble).
History: Jonothan was born on the 15th of August, 1993, to Ken and Gabby Drury, Muggles of London.
Ken owned and ran a small pub, and Gabby worked as a seamstress. The Drury's were never particularly wealthy, but they always made sure little Jon was loved and taken care of. Ken would let the very young Jon sit in the pub to watch rugby on the tv's, and because Gabby worked from home, she would take Jon on trips to the park on most sunny days. Gabby was originally from Edmonton, Alberta, and every other Christmas, they would travel to visit Jon's grandparents. This is where he first fell in love with hockey and learned to skate.
At home, Jon soon grew to be a large, fast boy, and his parents finally relented and allowed him to play rugby with the older boys, seeing that he would never be able to burn off all his energy sitting around school, the house, and the pub (even though Ken had started using his son in the back room to stock heavy kegs and boxes).
It was one day in July 2004, helping his father take inventory, that Jonothan recieved his letter inviting him to Hogwarts.
His parents were shocked at first, but then proud, and that fall little Jonothan left for the magical school.
Jon spent his first year at Hogwarts with his mouth permantly agape. The little boy was constantly discovering new things that he could hardly believe, and he felt as though he had been invited to live in his own imagination. During his first trip on the Hogwarts Express, the other kids were discussing which houses were best. The other youngsters extolled the virtues of Gryffindor mostly, and many of them called Hufflepuffs "lame". Jonothan couldn't understand this, because from everything he heard, Hufflepuff just seemed like the house where all the nice, friendly people went. He immediately began to hope he would end up there. Luckily, little Jonothan was not to be disappointed.
Early on, Jonothan had trouble making new friends, if only because he was scared of striking up conversations. Eventually, though, he started warming up to his new housemates, and he finally started to feel like he belonged.
The first class Jon really loved was Transfiguration. As a youth, being able to change things about tickled him to no end, and he took to that form of magic immediately. That was the first area of magic that he truly excelled in. He also grew to like Herbology, because he found the digging and working therapeutic, gardening was a way for him to turn his brain off and find his center, especially when the wizarding world got too overwhelming. Potions, however, was another story. Defense Against the Darl Arts was the other bright spot on his schedule. He could never seem to get things right, and by his second year he started to occasionally get "lost" traveling through the dungeons so he could explore the school instead. When he does attend, he genuinely tries, but the formulas and recipes just never seem to stick for him. Charms is his other worst class. The wand movements seem too swishy, and where the Transfiguration incantations flow out of him naturally, those for Charms put his tongue in knots. He continues to work at the class with his trademark dogged determination, but he is still perpetually behind his classmates. As soon as he could, he started taking Muggle Studies. He figured the class would be a cakewalk for him and could make his grades look a little better (his parents never needed to find out what a muggle was, so that he could convince them it was a prestigious magical class). He ended up enjoying that he was finally one of the most knowledgable in a class, and does actively participate in it. Except on exam days. Exams in Muggle Studies are his chance to speed through the test and have a study period or extra free time in a day.
Jonothan the sports lover found his first wizarding loves in Quidditch and dueling (or as he calls it, "spell boxing"). Flying reminded him of ice skating, and he works hard on his broom in all his free time. He's no natural talent, and he'll never be another Cedric Diggory, but his near constant practice, and "leave it all on the pitch" attitude helped him carve out a niche as a chaser on the Hufflepuff team. Knowing he's not the fastest or strongest, he try to develop a unique two way style for himself that thrives on quick passes on offense, and roaming about trying to create turnovers on defense. He's still never scored in a match, but he takes much more pride in setting up his teammates anyway. Jonothan also love dueling and has gradually built up a strong repertoire of hexes. Jinxes and curses, being more like Charms in nature, are still his weaknesses. He loses about as often as he wins, but he finds the sparring itself exhilarating and tries not to get too competitive (although sometimes he still gets worked up after a particularly bad beating or huge victory, especially over Slytherins). He's built up some friendly rivalries, and with partners he duels often, he likes to try lots of new and sometimes difficult spells, just to catch them by surprise.
Overall, Jon has adapted well to Hogwarts life, but there's still so many new students to meet that he's kept his shyness strong. He also still finds new things to marvel at, and just when he thinks he's seen it all, there's something else to surprise him. He's still unsure about his future, but he knows he wants to stay in the wizarding world. He's thought about trying to become a Quidditch coach or taking a job at the ministry, but he figures he has plenty of time to figure it out, and worst case scenario he can put his past at the pub to use and get a job at the Three Broomsticks until he figures it all out.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Jonothan was chosen for Hufflepuff due to his respect for the virtue of hard work. The sorting hat took note his ability to stay light hearted and relaxed in downtime while giving nothing less than 100% effort when the time came to work.
Writing Sample: Jonothan entered the Great Hall early in the morning, wanting to get an early breakfast so that he could take a run out in the fresh air before Potions in the musty dungeons.
The first thing he noticed when he sat down was that the tables weren't their usual plain mahogany, instead they were a shining silver. Confused, he decided to try to sneak down to the kitchens to investigate.
"After all, I'm still the only person here," he said to himself. Then he laughed and said, "I'm so alone that I'm talking to myself."
With another laugh at himself he got up and started towards the door. 'What's the worst thing I could possibly get into?' he thought.
Sum up your character in one paragraph: Jonothan is a grounded and strong young man, humble, light hearted, and hearted working. However, he is also quite shy, not a great student, and overly trusting.
