Kayla snuck a look at the other girl from the corner of her eye, waiting for Annie to finish her sentence. Maybe she wasn't so lucky as one might originally think, if her mom - who was a witch and who could see the castle - still wouldn't come. That was pretty cold. No wonder Annie'd been nervous enough to vomit.
"Go on," she said. She smiled at Annie, a warm expression. "I'll see you soon, yeah? Try not to... get yourself too worked up. Like I said, it'll all be okay."
She herself had friends to see too, congratulations to accept, Odies to tease. Heck, a whole library of spells to memorize now if she wanted to get really prepared. She'd need to kick everything up a notch if she wanted to be ready in time for the next Task. Chewing her lip she gave Annie one last (what she hoped was) a reassuring smile and a wave as she turned to leave. Halfway down the hallway the call floated back over her shoulder, "If you want to practice your spellwork, lemme know!"
