Avoidance Therapy (Open) January 2010

on March 30, 2013, 10:16:19 PM

It was Saturday morning and instead of being normal and sleeping in Aureliane D'---Vandalier, she really had to stop thinking about herself by her maiden name, was getting an early start on retail therapy. It was her was very common vice. She was avoiding her messed up personal life by losing herself in being a stereotypical woman. But it was the only think Aure could think of doing and well she had an urge to shop. Plus it was an excuse to avoid Cyrus for a few hours. She'd left a note pinned to his door about where she had slunk off to at seven in the morning, not bothering to wake him. Since she had returned with her memories gone they hadn't been sharing a room. All they really shared these days was a name. Aureliane was trying but it was hard. There was so much she just didn't know. He had six years worth of memories that she didn't. For the first time, Cyrus was more mature than her. She still felt like she was twenty two. She remembered being twenty two like it was a few months ago and not six years. It was frustrating. So here she was at the store opening waiting to buy new clothes. She was rather tired of her current rather boring waredrobe. She knew she was a lawyer and all, she had been one at twenty two, abet just out of school, but even lawyers could wear more color.

The closed sign switched to open as Robes for all Occasions opened. Finally. Aure rushed inside, smiling at the rather sleepy clerk.

"Morning, pretty day isn't it?" She called as she headed over to the dress robes.

Getting up early should be considered illegal, or, at least, that is Roger's opinion on the subject. If left undisturbed he would sleep until noon and not properly get out of bed until a few hours past that. Unfortunately, Roger had to usually wake up around 7am for practice, followed by his morning run. By that time his concious wouldn't let him settle down for a nap so he usually considered the day a waste and found things to occupy his time until afternoon practice or the evening run.

While the Prides did not have practice this morning, Roger still had woken up at what he labels an 'unacceptable hour' to take care of errands. First on the list was Madam Malkin's Robe shop as Roger's Quidditch robes were in bad need of repair. Having the good sense to ask for an audience with Madam Malkin a few moments before open, he breathed a sigh of relief; the sooner he took care of this the sooner he could cross other errands off his list and go back to bed.
Madam Malkin fussed over the state of his robes, tut-tuttering and tsking while looking at the frayed ends, rips and one sleeve sporting a large burn.

"I don't care if Viktor Krum himself lit your sleeve on fire, you need to be more careful!" Madam Malkin scolded, her finger wiggling through the burned fabric.

"Madam Malkin," Roger groaned, mentally unprepared for her lectures. "You know it is a rough sport; our robes take quite a beating." Madam Malkin had opened her mouth to reply when the door opened and her sleepy clerk gave a half-hearted hello to the woman stepping in. Roger turned to look at the store's first patron, and then back to Madam Malkin. "Look, can you just repair it, please? I promise to take better care of it."

"You say that every time. You boys are too rough on your robes!" Madam Malkin replied with exasperation, neatly folding the purple robes on the table. "Honestly, the Harpies almost never come in with tears on their robes!"

Dinner with the parents....At Anna's age it felt sort of pathetic that she dreaded it so much.  She had thought she had broken free of their grasp years ago, but yet here she was bright and early before her shift in Hogsmeade trying to find the perfect outfit to wear to a dinner with perhaps to of the most judgmental parents in pureblood society...or at least they were in her opinion.  It had been sheer curiosity that had caused her to accept the blasted invitation and now she was regretting it.

Entering the store behind an other woman, she removed her scarf and gloves, tucking them into her coat pocket before removing the outerwear and placing it on a coat hanger near the door.  She apparently wasn't the only one with early shopping ideas, although the purpose of her visit to the store had her questioning the other woman's assessment of the day being 'pretty.'

Making her way over to a rack to start browsing the robes there, she couldn't help over hearing the conversation between Madam Malkin and the man who was the object of her scolding that fine morning.  She couldn't help smirking a bit remembering some of her trips to this particular store in her younger days when she had been a bit less...graceful.  Somethings never changed.

"Honestly, the Harpies almost never come in with tears on their robes!"

Glancing over she recognized the Quidditch player in question from the Three Broomsticks.  Trying to provide a bit of aide she said, "But where would the fun in watching the sport be if they didn't get a few rips and burns along the way?  If the boys didn't get a bit rough from time to time no one would watch...and then they wouldn't need your fine services, Madam Malkin."

The last part was said with sincerity, in spite of starting with a bit of sarcasm.  She offered the shop keeper a small, genuine smile before returning to her browsing.

An appreciative smile came to Roger’s face as he turned and searched for the voice of reason. His gaze fell upon the familiar form of Arianna, a waitress at the Three Broomsticks. The smile turned into one of genuine like, and he nodded.

“Yes! See? Oh, go on then, Madam Malkin,” Shooting the shop owner a pout often used when Roger wanted to sway others to his influence. “You know I only come to you for these matters.”

Madam Malkin, ever familiar with Roger’s pouts and puppy dog eyes heaved a miffed sigh.

“Very well, very well.” Picking up a carefully folded robe from the top of the pile and looking it over once more. “Come by in the afternoon and they will be ready. Merlin knows I have other repairs to do.” Gathering up the rest of the pile, Madam Malkin headed for the back of the store and Roger turned to Arianna once more.

“Fancy seeing you here!” He said with a smile, walking over to her.

Sounds of the old proprietor harping at someone at the counter caught Aure's attention. She smiled at the older man as he tried to plead with the older woman. It had been a long time since Aure had been in the shop. Or at least she didn't remember coming in here since she'd been a young girl shopping with her friends during the summers she had spent in England. Well it didn't really matter if she remembered or not which was the reason why she decided to go shopping. No one here would question her memory. Unless she ran into someone she was supposed to have met during the six years that had been wiped from her memory. Really, she needed to stop obsessing over it. Lately all she could think about was loosing her memory. She should just get over it. But she couldn't. There had to be a reason she had been attacked. Something.

Aure tried to force her thoughts out of her mind as she began to look at the robes that were on display. The pretty colors, patterns shapes. She didn't need knew clothes but she wanted them. Something smart and sassy. Maybe even alluring. Aure glanced up with a blonde girl wandered in. She was all bundled up. Probably thought the day was wretched and cold. Aure liked the weather. Oh, it was still cold but there was just a hint of sun light peaking through the clouds. A tiny ray of hope. It wasn't enough to create any real warmth but when it filtered down it was pretty. Well, she thought so anyways and she liked wind. It made her feel alive.

Aure couldn't help but listen as the woman and the man interacted. It was obvious they knew each other. Aure wondered if they were lovers or friends. Did they work together? There was always a story. She wondered if people looked at her and Cyrus and wondered what their story was. Did people try to speculate about their story by watching their interactions? What would they see? A man madly in love, lost and confused while the woman he loved didn't remember? Merlin she was morose that day. It might have been a mistake to leave the house.

Aureliane drifted closer to the rack where the woman was. There was a pretty green robe that had caught her eye. She'd taken a few steps when she'd tripped over the scarf that had wound it's way loose from her neck. She'd unwrapped it a bit, but still kept it draped loosely around her neck, half off her shoulder. She hadn't noticed it trialing the ground until she'd stepped on it nearly chocking herself, and loosing her balance. Her healed boots slipped out from under her and she landed on the floor, her arms failing to reach out to grab the rack and instead she ended up bring several robes down with her.

"Opps," She said with a half laugh as she landed on her bum on the carpeted floor like a gawky teenager.

Anna couldn't help but laugh a bit at Roger's pout as she turned her attention back to the rack of garments she had been looking at for a moment.  He tended to be a regular at the Three Broomsticks and was used to seeing him during her later shifts.  She had been avoiding London for some time, finding herself leaving Hogsmeade for the city more frequently in the past few weeks.  It seemed it was only a matter of time before she started seeing familiar faces.

“Fancy seeing you here!”

She returned the smile, letting her hand fall away from a light blue robe and with sarcasm said, "Yes, occasionally they unchain us from our confines during our off hours."  Growing a bit more serious she added, "It is quite the coincidence...I'm glad I could be a bit of help with Madam Malkin."

A commotion behind her drew her attention away from Roger and she turned towards the other woman who had entered the shop a moment before her.  She was sprawled out on the floor with a few of the robes from the rack strewn about her.

"Merlin, are you alright?" Anna asked, offering an understanding smile.
