Full Character Name: Hadley Caroline Severide
Character Birthday & Age: July 3rd, 1987; 22 years old
City & Country of Birth: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
    Blood Purity: Halfblood
    Alma Mater: Hogwarts, Ravenclaw
Job/Position: Healer-In-Training, Magical Bugs and Diseases

Wand: Hadley’s wand is a pliable Hornbeam wand, measuring at 10 and ¼ inches. Its core is Dragon Heartstring and the shaft has a spiral pattern winding up a few inches.

    Physical Description:
Hadley is on the small side, standing at about 5’4”. She knows she’s shorter than most and she embraces the fact that she is ‘fun-sized’. She’s got hazel eyes that don’t quite match her curly blond hair that falls a little past her shoulder when it is down. When it's up, in a ponytail say, she'll often wrap a brightly colored ribbon on it. It typically will be adorned with polka-dots or stripes. At home, she'll take the ribbon out and let her hair down to avoid the dreaded ponytail headache!

When she walks, she strides confidently and walks with a purpose. She believes that if you need to get somewhere, you need to do so in a timely manner.

On an average day, Hadley wears blue jeans, boots (hiking, cowboy, etc.) and whatever color top she’s in the mood for. Typically she wears muted colors, but when she’s in a good mood, she loves wearing colors that really pop.She wears professional looking makeup when she’s at work, but always has a pinkish color lipstick on. Her coworkers can recognize her for her smile and her bright, cheery laugh.

When they first meet her, people will notice Hadley's confidence from the way she holds herself. Her friends often joke that they can find her anywhere in a crowd, because honestly, who else likes wearing neon ribbons in her hair?

With her very American, southern accent; she is used to people giving a go at mimicking her drawl. It never fails to amuse her when they do so, because not many people can get it right. At work, she tries to tone it down as best she can, but at home its just full on Southern drawl.

Now that she’s living in London semi-permanently, she is pale from the rainy and snowy winter.

    Personality Description:
Hadley is the semi-quiet type. A true polite Southern Belle living in the wrong part of the word. Growing up, she was taught to be polite and well-mannered. Her time spent under the hot Georgia sun left her with a love for being outside.

She has a bright smile that can light up a room, when she’s happy of course. And she’s happy a lot. Even with her odd way of being shipped between parents, Hadley is optimistic about her life. She loves people; well, she loves helping people. That’s why she is a healer, so she can save people’s lives and make them feel better.

Even with her optimism, like any other girl, she has flaws. She finds it difficult to connect with people sometimes. She doesn't understand their constant troubles, the scowls on their faces after a long day at work. The anger, the hate. She just doesn't get it. Hadley can be rather naïve sometimes, and it takes a harsh wake up call to get her to snap out of it.

She can be rather sassy though, when she’s up to it. In Hogwarts, she was known for her sharp tongue and sweet, southern sass. (At least that’s what her dorm mates called it.) Sometimes people mistake the sarcasm and sass for being rude, and they get rather cross with her on occasion. It’s just because they don’t know her, and she doesn't like opening up to people she doesn't know. It takes a while, but once you get to her, she’s a trustworthy friend.

    History:

Elizabeth Forge began working for St. Mungo's hospital immediately after graduating from Hogwarts. She excelled as a healer-in-training and was soon picked to become a healer on the floor catering to Magical Bugs and Diseases. Her superiors saw that she had potential from the start and kept a close watch on her.

When symptoms of a magical bug cropped up in the Center for Disease Control's alert center, the magically aware director sent for a well-versed healer to aid them in the outbreak of a magical virus. They sent Elizabeth over to meet with Jackson Severide, one of the older and more experienced scientists. After solving the virus and creating a cure, Jackson invited Elizabeth to his house, along with the rest of the team, for a celebratory dinner.

There, Elizabeth Forge met Ethan Severide, a cocky and very attractive county singer. They met up on several occasions; and the night before Elizabeth was due to return to London; they made a slight mistake in the midst of an alcohol-induced haze. Both parties were a bit sober enough to both consent, but they didn't think through their actions clearly enough. Elizabeth returned home, and then took leave from work to stay with Ethan in Georgia after learning three months later that, yes, she was pregnant.

In the first heat wave of July, Ethan and Elizabeth rushed to the hospital as the first of many contractions hit the expecting mother. A few hours later, Hadley Caroline Severide was born; wailing like the usual newborn. Ethan was excited, and his first words after the birth were “At least my girl’s got a great set of lungs; maybe she’ll be a star like her daddy.” The new parents and newborn spent another month together before Ethan and Elizabeth called it quits; knowing they couldn't give up their careers to start a family together.

Elizabeth left two-month old Hadley with her father, not wanting to risk traveling overseas with the newborn. Hadley’s paternal grandparents loved and accepted Hadley into their family with warm hearts and endless embraces. She grew up quickly, each year marked by a sharpie line on the wall in their open kitchen. Her warm hazel eyes grew bright and mischievous, and her blonde hair grew curly and was often pulled up into pigtails or a ponytail.

When she turned seven, she was gifted with her first guitar. Since she could write at age five, she would write down her father’s song lyrics and sing along with him. Now, the young and talented girl wrote her own songs. They were mainly about summertime, her grandparents; silly little things that the seven-year-old loved.

Along with her musical talent, Hadley began to act up. Sprouts of magic appeared. Light bulbs shattered, the guitar played itself, and daisies bloomed in the palm of her hand. Ethan wrote to Elizabeth in worry, and she appeared shortly after receiving it; embracing her magical daughter with joy. Since she was born, Elizabeth only visited on a few weekends, and sometimes stayed longer than that. Elizabeth explained that she needed to take Hadley back home with her, make sure she stayed safe until she could enroll at Hogwarts. Ethan complied, but Hadley was not happy about moving from warm, sunny Georgia to cold, rainy London.

Hadley attended Hogwarts and was sorted into Ravenclaw, where she never felt like she truly fit. The newly christened Ravenclaw was addicted to her guitar, and some of the kids made fun of her for her southern accent. She didn’t mind though, because her dorm mates grew to accept her; and over time, they eventually began to enjoy the constant stream of music.

She liked her classes very much and soaked up the knowledge she was given. Each term, she would spend Christmas with her mother. At the end of the school year, she would fly over to Georgia and spend the summers with her Dad. The years started to fly by.  Hadley had crushes on more than one guy over the course of seven years, but never had the courage to ever say hello to them. She wrote about them in her songs. She wrote about her friends as well. Anything she thought of, anything she felt… everything went into a big leather bound notebook that grew to be heavier than some of her textbooks.

She dropped History of Magic in the middle of her N.E.W.T. course. She hated it and never grew to be fond of it one bit. But she excelled in Potions and Charms for some reason, but maybe it was just the help that her mother gave her over break with her course work that really pushed her to do better in those classes. Before graduating, she began to grow close to Roxanne Gunter and Jane Hunter before she split from them, each going their separate ways.

Hadley stopped her summer visits to her father when she got a job at St. Mungo’s, working as a healer-in-training. She hasn’t lost her love for her guitar though, and can be found writing songs and strumming the six-string whenever she has time for it.

She now works on the second floor, training to be a healer in magical bugs and diseases. She was almost destined to do it, what with her mother working there at one point and her grandfather in CDC. She really enjoys her work; and knows that her new flat mates Roxanne Gunter and Jane Hunter are always there to talk to after long shifts.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
As a healer-in-training, Hadley is still learning the ropes of her job. She’s learning things like how to treat common bugs, how to identify diseases; the works. She attacks her job passionately because she truly cares about her patients. She is nearing the end of her training, and is working hard to prove herself for a promotion.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Throughout her schooling at Hogwarts, Hadley excelled in most of her classes. She didn’t receive any bad marks while she was there because she was very focused on her studies. Her grades ranged mostly in Exceeds Expectations to Outstanding in everything except History of Magic, in which she did quite poorly and managed to almost fail it. She received Outstanding’s in Potions and Charms. All other marks were Exceeds Expectations.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Hadley was raised to be a southern mud-loving, country-song-singing, sweet-tea-drinking girl; until she found out she was a witch and was plopped into rainy, cold London, England. She currently resides with two old friends from school and loves them both because they are really good to her. Hadley still loves sweet tea and country music; but she also loves healing people and learning to be a healer for St. Mungo’s.

    Career Change

    Character Name: Hadley Severide
    Character Biography: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=14013.0
Previous Job/Position: Healer-in-training; Magical Bugs and Diseases
Position Applying For: Healer; Magical Bugs and Diseases

Why have you chosen to change careers?:
Well, it's not so much a career change, but a promotion! After three dedicated years of working diligently for St. Mungo's as a Healer-in-training, it's finally time for little miss Hadley to put on her big girl boots and lime green robes.

Elaborate on your expertise in this new field:
For a couple of years, Hadley has learned all that she could from her superiors. She's had lots of on-the-job training, and has even managed to save a life or two. She's great when it comes to dealing with patients, and works with lots of enthusiasm. She is fully qualified to become a Healer with her experience and has a lot to bring to the table. Hadley is a hard worker with a lot of healing skills under her belt, and continues to improve when she puts her mind to it.

Describe your new job and how you go about doing it:
As a Healer, Hadley would be responsible for a bigger caseload and a bigger influx of patients. She would be able to admit and take care of patients herself with little-to-no supervision at this point. Because she would be a new Healer, she would be on call more often and more apt to sign up for graveyard shifts. No matter the hour of the day, unless it's her day off, she would be ready to come into work in the case of an emergency.

Also, she would have even more paperwork to do! This is always a highlight of the job, and having a few more stacks to cart home at night seems to be a possibility for Hadley.

While her paperwork might increase, she will also be helping to research new cures and remedies for the magical bugs and diseases that she encounters; along with keeping up to date on all the normal, unmagical diseases that she encounters and their cures.
