Murder in Oulton Broad

23 December 2009

Oulton Broad, Suffolk - Late into the night on the 21st of December, Aurors responded to an Acute Magical Disturbance in a Muggle neighborhood of Oulton Broad, a quiet town in Suffolk.  Upon arriving at the residence they found the body of muggle Jessica Windell, 50, dead by The Killing Curse.

Aurors Vivian Callen and Zora Roh tracked a suspect to another residence in the neighborhood and arrested the husband of the victim, wizard Grubson Windell, 39.

"It's complicated.  Half of the witnesses were muggles, and half of those are family; Accidents and Catastrophes will have to get involved, but they can't go Obliviating people before we've got the statements we need.  It's messy.  Murders always are," said Auror Roh.

The Killing Curse is one of the three Unforgivable Curses and the penalty for casting it could carry a life sentence in Azkaban Prison.

"Please allow us to conduct an investigation first.  [Grubson] Windell is in custody but he has yet to be convicted.  He will be, of course - obviously, but let's at least wait until he's actually convicted before sentencing him, please?" came a comment from The Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Jessica Windell is survived by an 11-year-old son, a student at Hogwarts.
