Althea walked around the classroom, putting the final touches on everything, one table with two piles of white shirts and two piles of jeans, one for girls and one for boys.  The room was set up in rows of tables, adding lots of space at the front of the room, the blue chair in the corner.

Also in the front of the room was a table full of accessories: scarves, glasses, jewelry, a variety of cardigans, hoodies, and hair accessories. She had a nice lesson planned in order to ready the classes for the trip to London.

When it seemed everything was set, Althea wrote up on the board in bright orange letters,
LONDON TRIP 2010.

Underneath that were several notes about the trip. Once she finished writing on the board, she dusted her hands together, waiting for students to start coming in. She sat down, leaning on her desk, liking her choice of dress for this class less and less. She hated skinny jeans, but it was what muggle kids wore these days, and this lesson was all about fashion.

Ah, Muggle Studies. The easy O, the class where Gigi half wondered if she knew more than the professor. Not that she'd say it, she wasn't stupid. And she was trying to be good. For a certain value of good, at least-she wasn't a Hufflepuff. So she just took at seat at desk six and gave a smile and a nod to  Prof Santucci.

Looked like clothes. Jeans and t-shirt's weren't much fun, especially in white, but they weren't the pinnacle of boring either. Maybe the other piles would be more interesting. Or maybe she'd let them transfigure the shirts into something more fun.

She pulled some paper and a quill out of her backpack, and set them down a little loudly on the desk. Leaned back, legs crossed, waiting. Maybe she'd get to doll Raine up all Muggle-like. Zerg and stomping boots.

Didn't think Almasy would go for cat jokes.

Not all mornings were perfect mornings- not all of them were alert, just-after-a-jog-and-hearty-breakfast mornings. A select few were... subpar.

Raine slipped into the room with the bulk of her classmates; a heaviness in her footsteps and drowsiness in her eyes. Sharp, spiky red curls stuck out in odd directions. It took a moment to register Professor Santucci's lesson arrangement today and then another moment for her nose to wrinkle in distaste at the clothes.

Fashion was one of those muggle elements that the Gryffindor genuinely enjoyed, even if she rarely expressed this. Her mother grew up shopping at muggle boutiques after all- but tees and jeans? Raine followed one of the Ravenclaws on their heels, turning into a row of desks to join Georgiana.

"Not exactly high fashion, is it?" she commented as she dropped into the chair, slinging her satchel to the side. "It's an improvement over textbooks and pictures, at least. Do you suppose we're going to have to perform a catwalk?" The sleepiness in her expression gave way to an amused smirk. Schlawkward would love that.

It was bright and early on a Monday morning and, in a rare bout of decent, mid-winter weather, a touch of sun was just cresting over the mountains.  The Ravenclaw had already been up for several hours so was more than wide awake by the time he reached the first floor classroom - more so than some of his classmates, by the look of it. 

The Ravenclaw set his bag down at the first seat at desk seven, next to Raine and Georgiana.  "'Allo," he offered to both of them as he started to sit.  "What do you mean cat-" Sasha followed Raine's line of sight towards the front of the class, looking from the board to the piles of jeans and t-shirts and then back up to the board. 

Wait ... what?

"London Trip?  We're going to London?"  And, they'd be expected to wear that?  Hopefully, they'd be able to do some serious style modifications to the outfits - otherwise, a group of teenagers wandering around in identical jeans and white t-shirts would stand out in the crowd.  They'd look like a pack of roving Habitat for Humanity volunteers. 

And, those of them with connections in London risked being recognized. 

With the first week of lessons out of the way, life had sort of settled back into it's normal routine for Waverly. Of course there was the addition of private lessons with the Headmistress and trying to keep Annie from hyperventilating to death as the third task loomed before them but all in all it was business as usual for the sixth year. This morning was no different than all the mornings because Christmas break as she headed into the Muggle Studies classroom. She had decided that she liked Professor Santucci well enough, Waverly had decided long ago not to get too attached to any Professor on the grounds you never knew when they'd up and leave, but for a new professor  Santucci was alright.

Slipping into her seat, Roh plopped her bag in front of her and rested her chin in her hand, glancing around the room. It was a bit weird not having Annie in the room with her, they'd become rather inseparable lately. They shared almost all the same classes, they studied together - really Annie had probably become her best friend in just a matter of weeks. Sometimes when they weren't together it felt a little like she was missing a limb; it wasn't like she didn't have a million other friends... Annie was just special. Sighing she tilted her head as the students around her chattered about the fashion choices before them. Projects were fun, much better than lectures about telephones and other gadgets that would never work in the Wizarding World. 

Phillip didn't really think before talking... No, Phillip's brain-to-mouth filter was practically non-existent, which did indeed make for some bloody buzzing comebacks, but eh, not so much during classes. He walked into the classroom, perhaps a minute late, which was damn improvement and threw his old, ragged backpack on the floor and sat down with a thud, ass half hanging over the edge of the chair and arms crossed over his chest as he skenned frowning from the board to the table. Muggle Studies was barmy. Pure downright barmy.

He spent half of the lessons chucking and trying to stifle the constant laughter avalanches. These wizarding folks were so funny and ignorant of his world... He cleared his throat and tilted his head looking at the Professor like she was some scally alien. "So... 'Fessor... we're going to London?" he said more than asked. "All of us?" he said as he looked around pointing a finger at no one in particular. He chuckled and rolled his eyes. "I hope you're insured or whatever, 'cuz letting a bunch o'purebloods loose in normal" he refused to call it muggle, 'cause it was just bobbins, okay? "London is such a barmy idea."

"An I hope you ain't expecting us to go dressed like that. Jeeze Louise, what if me mates recognize me? They'll think I'm with some mang volunteering group that wants ta change the world, and plant flowers everywhere and fill the world with rain-boooows" he said in a really stupid voice with an even stupider fake innocent face.

For Thea, arriving at Muggle Studies was like slipping into reality television. Sure, it was closer to home than any of her other classes--no wand-waving or potion brewing--and yet it alienated her in a way that none of that other nonsense seemed to. Muggle Studies was like her world on steroids: all the little things exaggerated and in your face, with explanations that always seemed just a little bit off to her. Like returning to your own clothes after an evening spent in costume, only to find that the fit is just the slightest bit off.

On the subject of clothing, there seemed to be quite a bit of it spread over the table at the front of the classroom, none of which looked particularly appealing to her. It was almost certainly all pulled off the rack at some local Salvation Army, and Thea couldn't help turning up her nose as she settled into her seat, lips pursed delicately. Whatever snide comments she might've made, however, stayed within the confines of her mind. She had no friends in this class, really--no Mason or Chloe. The closest she had to an ally here was Sasha, who was surely thinking the same thing as her about the clothing on the table before them. She attempted to catch his eye and send him an incredulous look, when she caught sight of the writing on the board.

A trip? To London? As in...normal person London? She was all at once seized with a combination of excitement and dread so intense that she let out a tiny gasp--which she of course immediately covered up with a neat cough. "We're going on a trip?" she asked quietly, not really expecting to be heard, but confident that her question would be answered anyway what with all the others demanding to know the same thing. Her mind raced at the thought of being spotted by someone she knew gallivanting around London in these pauper clothes with this motley group, and if Thea'd been the blushing type, she certainly would've flushed red. It would be an enormous embarrassment. Perhaps she could finagle her way out of going. After all, what could she have to learn from going to a city where she'd been dozens of times already?

"Catwalk? You in that just wouldn't be fair." Gigi smirked over at Raine, teasing. "Good idea." Since when did snakes play fair, after all?

She shot a glance over to Schlagenformal. Him in jeans and a t-shirt for a class assignment? That meant picture time.

The room was filling up pretty quick, and it seemed that some of them were surprised and or excited by the prospect of a trip. Had to be better than sitting in a room listening.

Then, back to Raine. If it was fashion, she'd be dragging the Gryffie around into it. "Think they'd let me bring my own clothes? Got plenty of Muggle stuff." Jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, even a corset or two. Gave Raine's figure an appraising look. "Probably get some to fit you."

When  Althea was rather positive that most of the class had gotten there, she stood up from her desk, a warm smile on her face as her hands clapped together. "Alright. So, as most of you have probably heard, we will be going on a field trip to Muggle London on February 21. I sent a letter to each of your homes over the winter break telling your guardians about the trip, and I asked for a response by February 7th. It's a free trip, and we'll leave around 10 AM and we'll be back around 3 PM. I believe we'll be traveling by portkey, and a few other adults from the school will be coming with us."

Althea started to walk around the class, as she continued to speak. "Over the next few weeks, we'll be talking about the trip, and planning for the trip. So, today, we're talking about," She made her way to the front of the class and gestured to her outfit. "Fashion. We need to plan out the outfits for the trip. Now, remember, it is February, so, it will probably be a little blustery. But, before we get designing, I want to make sure there aren't any questions!"

She sat back down her chair, and sat cross legged. "So, two questions. What are some examples of typical muggle clothing, and if you have any residual questions about the trip."

"They might, depending on which of your many corsets you decide to wear." Raine shot back at her classmate, smirking. It wasn't difficult to recall Gigi's spectacular sense of dress at her birthday soiree over winter break. "I do have a muggle wardrobe but if you want me to be your dress up doll..." she shrugged.

There were worst fates. Plain jeans and tees, for one.

Professor Santucci was starting the lesson and the banter faded for the meantime- the letter wasn't surprising news. Her parents would hardly care about a trip to a city in which she had spent all winter living. Raine's gaze fell on the tables of accessories with a wry pull at her lips. "So, two questions." Santucci presented. "What are some examples of typical muggle clothing, and if you have any residual questions about the trip."

There were bound to be at least a few queries, the Gryffindor knew, and she looked up with a quick response to get it out of the way.

"Jackets, sarafans, corduroy trousers-" she paused to narrow her eyes at the assortment of jeans. "- and denim I suppose. Speaking of which, professor: are we allowed to wear our own muggle clothes on the trip?" Raine glanced briefly at several of her classmates who shared a similar curiousity.

Althea smiled. "Excellent, Miss Almasy! Three points to Gryffindor!" Althea then thought on the question. She hadn't actually thought about it. It was an excellent question. The students probably could fit right in, and odds are, they'd be more comfortable in their own clothing. "Hmm." Althea said.  "I don't see why not. I just really want us to fit in. So, if you'd like to wear your own clothing, or some of a friend's, it'd be great if you could run it by me first! Though I really trust you guys to know what is good and what isn't."

Yes. That was a good idea. "Okay everyone, please pair up! One male to one female please! Then, come get one boy outfit set, and one girl outfit set. Then, I'll explain what we're doing next." She said, perching on the edge of her desk. These jeans were terribly uncomfortable!
