[January 11] A little... course readjustment (Katherine)

"And you're positive you saw this. Correctly, right?" She asked, looking down at the small ravenclaw who nodded. Alexa smiled. "Okay then. Thank you. Now, run along. You'll get your potion compensation soon." She said. The small boy nodded quickly, as he ran out of the room.

So Katherine was getting a little close to Mason. Maybe even a little too close. Katherine could have been acting, but Alexa had observed the Ravenclaw. She wasn't the best at acting, and by the way the young boy explained the situation, it was something more than just the casual closeness. And Alexa didn't trust her.

Maybe I'm wrong.

She scoffed.

I'm never wrong.

She walked over to the door, casting a muffling spell, wanting to keep sound in, and to stop anyone from hearing what they were going to be talking about. She then sent a quick note to Katherine calling her to the office, to chat. She sent it with a black owl and then transfigured a quill to be a glass. Though the glass was quill shaped, it would do the trick. She was never any good with transfiguration.

Alexa sat down in the larger of the two chairs behind the desk, awaiting Katherine to appear.

Katherine's frazzled brain was interrupted by a very rude squawking nose and the feeling on a note being dropped on her head. Bloody bird. Couldn't it see that she was trying to rest here? History of Magic had played a number on her, and she wasn't too happy about it. It wasn't the class so much, she really enjoyed the class; it was just the information. That, combined with the rest of her busy day and the partially read binder of Marvel comics in her bag. She could only read it when no one was looking, or hide it behind her textbook. Maybe one day, she could meet her father in secret and they could talk all about it.

Groaning, she unrolled the note from none other than Alexa. Great. Just the person that she needed to see right now. With a sigh, she did a quick change out of her grey pajama pants into a pain of grey pants. Same look, different material. Then she changed her mind, and put the pajama pants back on. If she was going to be dealing with Alexa, she was going to be comfortable. She shouldered her bag, and ran out the door, a third years watching the typically put-together brunette run by in her Ravenclaw-colored pajamas with her hair pulled up into a weak ponytail.

Soon enough, she arrived at the 'mafia office.' Or so it had been dubbed. Without a second thought, she pushed the door open and walked in, managing a weak hello before dropping herself in the chair in front of Alexa. Hopefully this would be quick, easy, and she could go sleep off the impending headache. But in reality, that probably wasn't going to happen.

Alexa smiled as Katherine sat down, and with a flick of her wand, the door closed behind them, a malicious smile on her face. A smile that meant there were alternate motives behind the hazel eyes. "So happy you could join me." She said, as she leaned back in the chair, placing one hand on the arm of the chair, and the other twirling her hair around her wand. "I figured we should have a little chat, you know. Like girls do."

"What happened last night?" She asked, the smiled disappearing, as she leaned forward slightly.

With a small, mostly hidden yawn; Katherine realized how positively dimwitted Alexa looked with her wand twirling around in her blonde hair. "It's nothing," she said sleepily, rubbing the exhaustion out of her eyes as she refocused on her main goal. At the moment, it was staying awake.

Katherine cocked her head slightly, the movement displacing her ponytail and swinging it to the said. She stopped playing with the strap of her bag and let the thin strip of fabric fall to the floor. "What are you on about?" She asked, not stopping to wonder if Alexa knew. With her pretty-girl Slytherin smile, Katherine knew that she knew.

"Besides from the terrible sleep I got, nothin' really." She said with a shrug, playing her move and waiting for Alexa to play hers.

"Nothing, huh? Nothing is something though." She stood up, hearing her heels click as they tapped on the floor, as she started to circle the other sixteen year old. "Because, you know, news travels fast in this school. It travels right up the popularity ladder. And you know who's at the top of that later?" She stopped behind Katherine's chair, leaning down to get a little closer. "Me."

She started to walk around the room again, fixing a few things on the shelves, occasionally pushing in a chair. "Rumor has it, you and Undesirable two were getting close last night. Something about, comic books?" She asked, turning looking at the Ravenclaw. "Now, I'm not mad, or saying anything, but I just wanted to know we still had the same goal in mind, and still followed the same rules, right? Never let yourself get close to an undesirable but always get the undesirable close to you." She sat back down, crossing her legs. "The goal, of course is to destroy their lives."

"Am I correct in your thoughts on the goals?"

Her chest was rattling with the erratic heartbeat she had going on. A dull pulse was taking up residence in the back of her head, steady, beating, distracting. Katherine didn't like being circled. She felt like prey. She didn't like feeling like that, it was annoying, and it made her feel weak. Given her state, she felt pretty weak, but it didn't stop her from trying to act strong.

"Destroy lives, of course, it happens. Part of my job description right?" Katherine said nonchalantly before clenching her jaw, her mind consumed with thoughts of Mason and how could she ever try to hurt him? He was fragile, and people do not break fragile things on purpose. She smirked, quite well considering the fact that she didn't know how to act, "You make is sound like I'm finding the undesirables... desirable? We couldn't have that. It makes it that much harder to tear them down."

Alexa shook her head with a smile as Katherine tried to act once more like the tough gang member she was most of the time. But one of Alexa's motto's was this; a liar knows when another liar is lying. And Alexa? Alexa was the queen of lying. She saw through Katherine's poor attempt at convincing her that everything was as it should be.

"Good to hear." She said, pointing her wand at the glass, firing a nonverbal spell that blew air at the glass. The way the wind hit the glass made a high squeak, as Alexa held her wand, still casting the wind, as the squeal got higher and higher. She had learned about the headaches from someone, though what she knew was extremely limited. All she knew was that headaches and high pitched noises did not mix well.

Alexa stopped the spell, smiling at Katherine maliciously once again. "We do know what our goal is, right?"

Smiles. Katherine had grown to like them, some of the time. But Alexa's? Now her smiles just scared her to no end. She knew, she knew everything. And no amount of lying was going to save her this time. Not even good lying. And it was really hard for Katherine to be a good liar.

When Alexa flicked her wand, Katherine suddenly felt like her head was going to fall apart. The high-pitched tone hit her ears with a devastating effect, she cringed as she clasped her hands over her ears, knowing that the sudden iron-hot pain wasn't just from the sound. But it was part of the sound.

She could barely keep herself on the chair as her muscles gave way, tears squeezed out of the corners of her eyes as she fell to the ground, almost bowed down as she held herself up on her knees. Vulnerable, Katherine knelt there, immobile, almost ready to start begging Alexa to stop the noise as she kept her hands over her ears.

She didn't see the smile Alexa gave her, but she didn't need to see anything. Rather, she couldn't see a thing. Her sight was blurry, her tongue too heavy for her mouth; her brain felt like it had been scrambled. "Goals... yes," she ground out through her teeth. "Destroy the undesirables."

Alexa let out a small laugh as she saw just how it impacted Katherine. "Good, that's what I want to hear. So, these little moments spent flirting with Mason without the goal in mind, are a waste, and we're not going to do it anymore, right?" She said, and with another flick of her wand the wind started again, playing the glass as though a dog whistle. She held it for a few seconds to get her point across before stopping the wind, and leaning back again into the chair.

"No more flirting without the goal in mind Katherine, okay? Can we stop that?" She said, with a tilt of her head as though reproving a child.

She was laughing at her.

The girl had the guts to laugh at her while she was in pain. Pain that she was causing. After the second round with pain, Katherine dragged herself back into the chair, practically collapsing into it in her exhaustion and pain. The central ache in her head seemed to be resilient, and it made for comprehension of Alexa's words difficult, but manageable.

"I wasn't flirting," she snapped back, holding her head in her hands. "I always had the goal in mind, why do you doubt me!"

"I doubt you because I know you're not the best actress. And because I had someone watching you. Someone who, for a love potion, explained exactly what had transpired. So, we're going to make a deal. You tell me the story, and I'll compare it to the story I heard from the grapevine. If the stories match up, you're in luck, but if not," Alexa scoffed.

"The wind will continue."

Beckett was cornered, and scared. Weak. Why did she feel like this? She didn't need to feel like this. She blinked her eyes through the blurred vision and reached over the arm of the chair, grabbing her bag. Why did she even bring it with her? To keep the comics close? Why would she bring them straight into the place where she knew they should never be?

After grasping her bag, she stood up. "It's been... real nice talking to you. Let's not make a habit out of it though." She said, pushing the chair a little bit as she made for the door. "Good night, Alexa." She managed, almost catching her foot on the floor, that was clumsy. But she righted herself quickly and kept walking, hoping to get out of here and back into her cozy, warm bed.

Alexa smiled. "Leaving so soon? Without ending our conversation?" She scoffed as she snapped her fingers. Rod stepped out of the corner, and away from the chair that he sat in almost all the time. With a nod of her head, Rod walked over towards Katherine, grabbing her arm, and pulling her back to the desk.

He pulled her into the chair, where he let go, and stood, guarding the door. "I don't take kindly to people leaving mid conversation." Alexa explained with a smile. "So, we're going to try this again. Tell me what happened last night."

Rod grabbed her, and Katherine did not take kindly to being grabbed. "Let go of me! Get your hand off of me!" She said, hitting him rather hard with one hand before that arm was restrained, and she was back in the chair. She just wanted to leave. Why wouldn't they just let her leave?

"It's nothing, Alexa." She said, glaring at the Slytherin. "Besides, I'm probably distracting him from Chloe now anyways, is it such a big deal that there's a minor flaw in your perfect plan? Oh, whoops, sorry, I forgot to tell you that I'm human, and I have emotions!"

The Slytherin shook her head slowly. "You're not telling me the truth. Still just trying to cover up." With a flick of her wrist, the slight breeze started again, hitting the glass, and making the high frequency. Little did Katherine know, Alexa didn't have the best ears. She couldn't hear frequencies if they were high enough.

A few seconds later, she took away the breeze, and looked back at Katherine. "Tell me exactly what happened last night, and don't try this whole, 'hiding feelings' thing."
