[Jan. 3] Waggle O' His Kilt (Open)

Jagger might have had too much to drink. He blew a kiss to the pretty lass in the corner of the bar before he emptied himself out into the street. His mum's cottage was only a street away, and he knew he ought to take himself right off to bed. The whiskey swam in his head. His cheeks were warm and his spirits were high, but it was late- coming on two in the morning. The whole weekend had been one big party for Jagger Stone- front man of wizarding boyband Amortentia. He'd spent every night in the bottom of the bottle and regretted not a single second.

He pulled his coat tighter around him, and tugged on the corners of the knitted hat on his head. A gift from his dear mother, always fretting that his ears would be cold. She'd be glad to know that tonight her gift had come in handy! Wind couldn't make it through the tightly woven yarn on his head.

Jagger could see his breath in front of him, but he began the walk home- weaving left and right on the sidewalk as his voice rose into a loud chorus of one of his favorite songs. "He's a braw braw Hielan' laddie, Private Jock McDade. There's not anither soger like him in the Scotch Brigade. Rear'd amang the heather, you can see he's Scottish built, by the wig, wig, wiggle, wiggle, waggle o' his kilt!"[1] His legs did a little jig as he sang- a very wobbly jig, but he was in merry spirits whenever he was swimming in the whiskey.

As he came to the end of the row of shops and restaurant in Hogsmeade, he went on to the second verse of the song. "I'll never forget the day we were order'd on review. The king came down to see us, and the queen was with him too. As I march'd by the royal coach the king just shook his head. The queen put on her royal spec's and look'd at me and said ..." Jagger then went on with the chorus again, not caring if he roused sleeping neighbors or disturbed anyone else on the street.

It had been a bit of a late night for Trina. A friend had been dealing with a fairly bad break-up, and Trina had been there to pick up the pieces of her friend.  Lots of chocolate and alcohol had been consumed on her friend’s part. Finally, Trina had been able to get her to calm down, stop crying, and get to sleep. And that was something Trina wanted to do herself.  After setting up some morning (likely) hangover supplies, and some more chocolates, the singer was able to head back to her own home in Hogsmeade.

Now that she had returned home, she was preparing to go to sleep.  She’d just gotten into bed, and it’d been barely a minute after her head hit the pillow when she heard someone singing outside her window.  Trina sat up and listened.  The singing slowly got louder, and a little less coherent. Getting out of her bed, she moved to the window and took a look outside.  There was a young man ambling about in the alleyway, who had quite obviously had too much to drink. Unfortunately, he didn’t seem likely to stop singing either.

Trina opened her window to the cold air. “Excuse you, but some people would like to sleep. And find it difficult to do so with your off-key singing going on.”

Granted, he wasn’t really off-key.  But as Trina was tired, and wanting to sleep, she got a little snippy. As she looked again at the boy, she noticed he didn’t look much older than twenty.  Probably just out of Hogwarts and enjoying the time to go out every night and drink.  Trina remembered those days, but had quickly grown out of them.  Though she didn’t remember being loud and obnoxious while making her way home, singing loudly in the streets.
