“Stay still, Kevin!” Noah’s hand slapped down on the toad’s back, stopping the amphibian from escaping again. Kevin the toad burped, disgruntled at being manhandled. Kevin was the only pet his parents had been willing to allow Noah to bring to Hogwarts. Apparently he wasn’t reliable or mature enough to keep anything else alive. That offended Noah. Kevin was still alive wasn’t he? His skin had a certain blue tinge to it but he was still alive and jumping and it had been a whole 4 months!

In the hand that wasn’t wrestling the toad down, Noah held a tiny potion vial filled with a glistening green liquid. Earlier on that afternoon, instead of doing his homework like he should have been, Noah had been sat in his dormitory experimenting with his size 2 pewter cauldron, his stock of potions ingredients and his copy of Magical Potions and Drafts by Arsenius Jigger. Now he was about to see just how an enlarging potion with extra eye of toad worked.

Noah frowned down at Kevin for a moment. Was it wrong to make a toad drink eye of toad? He decided that yes, it was, and instead poured the liquid on top of Kevin.
The whole vial.

What happened next was rapid. The toad made a strained noise and leapt free of Noah, onto the floor. Next his skin started bubbling, first slowly, then like crazy. As it did this, the toad grew and grew and grew.

And grew.
And grew.

Before he knew it, Noah was stood face to face with a giant toad, staring at froggy eyes through wide ones. This was not supposed to have happened…

“Rargh!”

The morning had been a bit of a mess, but now some things were quieter and so Rowena had finally settled down to read her letter from home, and was clasping a chocolate frog a little too tightly in one hand. Finally, a Cliodna card!

Boudicca had been curled up next to her, the kitten liked to form a small ball on the train of her long skirts whenever possible. But Rowena couldn't complain, between the warmth, that cute, wide-eyed expression, and the purring.

Even if she still missed home more than anything.

“Rargh!”

She looked up to see Noah Pratt staring down a giant toad. Oh Merlin, what had he done? Why were all the boys in her year grubby and poorly behaved?

"What. Did. You. Do?" She was standing now, and Boudicca shook herself awake. Rowena's wand slipped down her sleeve into her hand. It was a very large toad.

Remi was walking bythe courtyard, casualy enjoying himself. With homework done, Remi thought he might as well take a quick run. He hasn't been able for some time.

After sprinting down all 7 flights of stairs, he was going to finish at the lake and rest for a little bit. Almost unaffected by the sprint, Remi picked up speed in the courtyard, he saw 2 first years huddled near... A growing frog.

With a sigh Remi stood a few feet away from the dou and the enlarged amphibian,"Must I always babysit these kids?" He thought. For the past month Remi has been taking care of the first years as if they were his children. It was starting to get annoying. However, a few have grown on him.

"Do you guys need help? This could get ugly real quick." He pulled out his wand and stood there waiting, if the toad became rampant then he would interfere.

Booooooring! Everything was bloody boring! While all of his mates had classes he had none, and because everyone had classes neither did he have any clients. And some cocknobber totally rammed into him while running on the hallway and his shoulder hurt and he was just bored, okay? It was a dead-awful day. So here he was, outside. In the cold, dragging smoke hungrily from a fag, hoping to God he wouldn't get caught again for smoking. And as he rounded the corner to get to the entrance, kicking some poor stone simply for existing and being in his path, there was a—huuuuuuge toad (toad?!) in the middle of the courtyard. His hand froze midair, cigarette smoking itself while he just sat there, mouth agape staring at the... thing for like two minutes.

"What the bloody fu—" and he was interrupted by the arrival of a kid—oh, kid. They were all kids, three of them. And Phillip just tilted his head to look at them like a barmpot dog with floppy ears, as if watching them sideways would somehow explain what the bloody hell was happening here. "Hullo kids and... giant toad" he said frowning as he approached the goomber group, throwing his fished gaff with a flip of his fingers.

"Wha'cha doing here, ye daft apoths?" he said staring the toad right into its creepy froggy eyes. And Phillip suddenly had an image of being fished out on the tongue of a giant toad and he shivered and made a disgusted noise. "What the bloody hell did ye do?" he said worried, for a second there. "This is mint! Brill! Pure awesome" he quickly added laughing, because yes, Phillip thought giant toads were totally rad.

Two enormous googly toad eyes were staring down at the small boy and Noah took a wary step away from his toad friend that at this size, looked very angry to have been continually used as an experiment.

“Good Kevin…” The boy muttered in his Yorkshire accent, hands up as a form of protection.

"What. Did. You. Do?" Noah didn’t need to turn his head to know the frizzy red haired Rowena was the owner of the voice. Neither did he want to turn his head. Two eyes needed to remain on the gigantuous toad staring him down with hungry eyes. What happened if a giant toad decided to eat you? Did you live? Was death quick? Did you get squeezed to death by the tongue?

The offer of help came and Noah still refused to look away. “Don’t move. Kevin might eat us…”

“I never thought he’d go that big.” As the words left Noah’s mouth, Kevin’s eyes travelled up to a bird flying in the sky above them. An enormous tongue hurled from the toad’s mouth at a ferocious speed and the sound of a bird squawking was heard as the tongue retracted and took the bird inside Kevin’s mouth.

Noah’s own mouth fell open in shock. “Whoah! That’s awesome!” He suddenly blurted out, deciding Kevin was no longer scary, but the coolest creature that ever lived. “Did you guys see that?” She demanded of the small gathering.

Apparently the older Gryffindor boys were grubby and liked giant toads as much as the younger ones. Giant bird eating toads. Would it only eat birds? "Boudicca, come here!"

The kitten drowsily lifted her head and then pranced over to Rowena, who picked the little furball up and wrapped it protectively in her arms.

“Did you guys see that?”

"Yes."  She sent Pratt a glare as well, one of the harsh sorts she'd learned from her father's example. "You intend to be on the menu next?" Carefully, with her eyes still trained on the giant toad, she shifted Boudicca so that the kitten was only held in one arm, and pulled out her potions book with the other. "Again. What did you do?"

With an older student arriving, Remi was ready to leave. Let the professionals do their jobs. He was about to turn away when he saw a bird get caught in a massive tongue and then swallowed, whole. 

“Did you guys see that?”  "Yes,You intend to be on the menu next?"

He saw the young girl reach for her potions," Wait, maybe we should stun it before trying to force the thing to do something it doesn't want to." He walked to the back side of the toad. "Just say when" If all went according to plan this would be real easy to shrink back the toad. Unfortunately, nothing was easy at this school.

"Hold yer horses, ye knappers" Phillip said casually, half-laughing as he settled himself between the kids. "Tis all rather easy to go 'bout. I take it this was a... errr... minor 'Tions accident, aye?" he said inspecting the area, looking from the giant toad to the kids. "Wha' was in that vial, ye ninny?" he asked the kid with the vial and with the most obvious 'I did it' face.

"I might 'ave something on me to counteract it" Phillip said, extracting his shrunk box of potions from his pocket. "And wha'ever were ye doing testing on yer own pet, mate? That's just silly. You shoulda grabbed someone else's pet.." he muttered frowning while rummaging through his pockets for his wand. One the object was found with an 'AHA!' he set the box down and enlargioed it. He opened the box and looked at the kid expectantly. "Well?" he snapped, finally.
