Well, being at the Blairs almost made up for missing the party. Gigi was sprawled out on the floor, sketching out a series of zombies in purple armor. With everyone underfoot recently, she hadn't got much drawing in.

Her shiny new badge was pinned to her waist, hidden under the jacket. Hadn't gotten the chance to show it off to Luthas, yet. Was kind of proud of the thing, even if it felt heavier than it should. She kicked her feet up and knocked them together.

Still had to ask him about Raine, too. Lion packed a mean hex in her, and a bit of a sharp tongue beside. No reason Gigi could think of why the Aurors wouldn't take her. Red seemed her color.

There was a blank corner of paper, and she started on drawing the Forsaken crest. Now that'd make a sweet tattoo.

The Blair household had suddenly become far more crowded today by Cyhirae, Georgiana and the Trishna household’s guests. A b it more awkward as well given that his wife was one of their former Herbology professors. Tapendra had dropped the group off in the morning and was quickly off again to do whatever it was he needed to do before the Gala. Luthas personally was glad to skip the pomp and snobbery that inevitably came with such events.

Most of the kids were in the living room watching a movie and playing with the puppies. Georgiana, however, was not with the others. She was off by her lonesome doodling something in her sketchbook. Luthas had been meaning to talk to her alone about her letter and now was as good a time as any. As he wandered over to her Millie followed him, no doubt needing a break from the exuberant puppies and her equally excitable sister.

“Hey Gigi.” He peered down at her. “I’m surprised that you aren’t out with the other’s playing with the puppies. Or are you just in need for some alone time?”

Gigi finished the tip of an arrow, then rolled onto her side and looked up. These sleeves caught on everything, and had already gathered a little glint on the lace from pencil dust. "Yeah, Harper's been staying in my room. And then everyone." Seemed like a good way to make some of Cy's friends more annoying.

"Don't mind you, though." Hadn't been trapped with him all break, after all. She waved at the dog that had followed Luthas in.

"Oh! Have something to show you." She let the pencil drop from her hand, then reached down and unpinned the Prefect badge, then tossed it at Luthas. "You should have seen Tappy's face."

Luthas’ eyebrows rose, “Tappy’s actually letting a boy stay in your room?” He smirked at her, “What kind of spell did you use on him to have him actually agree to that?” He sat down next to her and ruffled her hair like he used to do when she was younger.

Luthas caught the badge Georgiana threw at him, as Millie flopped down in between them.  “Prefect huh. Congratulations. I didn’t think that was your thing.” Especially after she had gone full blown rebellious teenager a few years ago. Maybe this meant she was finally growing out of it.

“Anyway,” he handed Gigi back her badge. “You sent me a letter earlier about wanting to talk. About your friend, right?”

"Heh, no spells. Got Tappy pretty good about my Yule Ball dress, though!" Gigi grinned a little at the memory. Maybe Luthas was in on operation punch Tappy for bring dates home too. "But I'm not Erin's type." She swirled her finger in a circle next to her ear. "Boy has a weakness for crazy."

Not that she was the sort her classmates went looking to when they wanted snogging. Couldn't say she minded, too much. Rather scrape out her own eyeballs than touch Whitman, for one.

"Didn't guess it for my thing either. But my grades hit the I'll be nagged for straight Os now mark, and I wasn't just going to turn it down." She pinned the badge onto her pants again. "Already used to telling off the douche parades from my housemates anyways."

Better things to think about, like Raine. "Yes, Almasy. You been following the Tournament at all? She's one of our champions. Animagus, too, apparently. Wants to be an Auror and, oh, what was it?" Her brow furrowed for a second. "Oh yeah, smash criminals." Smashing didn't seem too effective, but Gigi wasn't going to worry 'bout that.

‘Almasy?’ “You’re talking about the surviving sister of Sanya Almasy? The one killed by Arthur Lemon?” Luthas bit his lip. That was something of a concern. There were many fine men and women who had similar incidents in their pasts that drove them into joining the Aurors, but the ones who hadn’t properly dealt with their issues beforehand tended to crash and burn in some of the nastiest ways.

“She’s in your year right? Same house?” ‘A year and a half cool down period could help. Get some counseling and process things.’  Luthas idly ruffled Millie’s ears, he was not the auror assigned to the case and so all he had access to was the reports. And none of them really mentioned the sister’s mental state. “Has she wanted to be an Auror before everything went down, or did it come up after?” Hopefully she wanted to be one before all this went down.

Oh, yeah, Luthas would know about that. Not on the list of things Gigi liked to think on too much. Course, she was the one with ideas of patricide, so what did she know? "Yep. She's not in my house though. Raine's in Gryffindor."

She turned her head to the eye the dog. "Hey Millie." Had to admit, she had a soft spot for the dogs. Would have to go back to the puppies later.

"And I think she wanted to. Didn't used to talk that much." The shrug was half-hearted, and she shook her arms a little, sending the lace on her sleeves to waving. "Think she'd be good at smashing."

Luthas nodded, “Ah.” He was not surprised that Gigi had friends outside her house. She didn’t fit the pureblood princess type that had and still dominated the Slytherin house girls (ironic given how pure her pureblood status was). He had honestly thought she would have ended up in Gryffindor when she was younger.

Millie lifted her head and, giving Gigi her best puppy dog look, crawled over toward the girl, nudging her had with her nose to encourage pets.

“Hmm. Well, she could always try out an internship over the summer. Give her an idea of how things work in the department.” ‘And give me an idea of her mental state. Addi shouldn’t mind.’ He smirked a little bit, “It’s probably not as exciting as she thinks though.” He gave Gigi a wry look, “And I’m certain it’s not as exciting as you think either. It doesn't involve a lot of smashing that's for sure. If she wants to do that she should look into becoming a hitwizard.”

That puppy dog look, oh dear. "Millie, you...." Gigi sighed at the dog and started petting. "You're better company than fire crabs." Maybe she'd get a puppy once she was out of school. Once she figured out a plan...ish there. Plans were hard.

"Internship, huh? Guess I'll prod her about it. Maybe try to have her write her yourself." She grinned back at him. "And someone doesn't want me doing anything exciting over the summer. Or in general.  Just about freaked when I mentioned the Werewolf Wing." From that shrug, she wasn't too concerned about any risks with that.

She moved to scratching Millie's ears. "Guess I'll see what Storm says, less you have any brilliant ideas." Raised eyebrow, maybe Luthas wouldn't operate on the protective panic style of job advice. Unlike certain someones.

Millie leaned into Georgiana’s hand, tongue lolling out and her tail thumping on the carpet in happiness. Luthas frowned; he didn’t want Gigi working in the werewolf wing either, especially after the disaster that happened last year. “Interning isn’t all that exciting, especially over the summer.” He scratched his chin idly, “It’s mostly watching people do things that are usually boring and gophering; especially at Level Two. We have trainees to do all the grunt work.”

He grimaced slightly at the memory of his own trainee years which had included the rise of Voldemort and the Second Wizarding War. By the end of everything he and Judy had been aurors in all but name and had experience that had taken their superiors twice that long to achieve.

He reflected back on the happier, if far more boring, time he spent interning while he was in school.  “All of the ministry internships are rather boring. If you want something exciting that Tappy would actually let you do, your best bet is St. Mungo’s or the Department of Mysteries.” Though he couldn’t really see Gigi wanting to be a healer, but who knew, she might have changed her mind now that she was older.

Oh, dogs. Gigi kept petting, paying special attention to right behind Millie's ears. They were better company than most people, for sure. "Lots of coffee-making and paper-hauling? Yawn. Don't think I'm cut out for healing, neither." She gave a bitter little laugh at that.

"Can look into the Department of Weird. Suppose they might even take me, with the grades of annoying good. You sure Tappy's eyes won't bug out at the thought, though?" The question sounded just a little disappointed, and she leaned over against Millie a bit. Maybe she'd get a dog when she had her own space. Couldn't keep a menagerie at school.

"And hey," she said, sticking her tongue out at Luthas. "If nothing else I can come spill-haul coffee for you. You like it burnt, right?"

 “You could be a healer if you wanted to be,” Luthas frowned at Georgiana’s self-depreciation. “Do you want to be one? You certainly have the grades for it.” Privately Luthas agreed with Gigi about her suitability to be a healer, if for an entirely different reason. He’d never seen her show any interest in healing in general. But he didn’t want her to dismiss a career that she wanted to go into just because Gigi felt she didn’t fit the typical mold.

“Maybe,” he smiled, “though I think he’d be more surprised at your choice.” He leaned back on his hands, thinking a bit. “I would have recommended the department that deals with magical creatures since you like animals, but they’re a regulatory body only, not personally dealing with the creatures care.”

“You do know that Ishane would tan your hide if you allowed perfectly good coffee to burn.” He chuckled softly at the memory of Ishane doing exactly that when he ruined a full pot of the stuff the morning after they moved in together. “And then she’d give you lessons on how to make good coffee. She takes that stuff seriously.” She came by that honestly. He liked his father-in-law, but the man was a walking stereotype of the American coffee culture.

“If you want to intern at Level Two I won’t stop you. Just don’t expect it to be all that exciting.” In fact he was pretty sure that was done on purpose to discourage hopefuls from thinking the job was all excitement and all danger all the time. Most kids would quickly decide to pursue some other career after experiencing days of boring canvasing and research only to experience a quick take down of some petty criminal, if even that. Of the two internships he served at Level Two, only the last one had been exciting, but only for extremely rare reasons. After all it wasn’t every summer that someone escapes from Azkaban. “I can talk to Tappy about it, if you want me to.”

"Eh, not really. Don't do cuddly fuzzy stuff." Gigi yawned a little to show her distaste for the prospect. "Wouldn't mind you, though. Think Ish'd teach me her coffee skills for it?"

Wasn't quite sure if she liked coffee, but she could give the whole mess a shot. Coffee was cool, right? Something like that. "Probably be stuck with boring anyways. Tappy'd flip otherwise. And doubt that he'll just let me catch up on the rogue." Even with how behind her gear would be after that long. Might even get nerfed, ugh.

Millie seemed to think this was the perfect opportunity to press her nose against Gigi's hand, which prompted a sigh and then more petting. Dogs. Least they were simple. "Yeah, go talk to Mr. Panics Easily. If I don't pick something he'll stick me with a pile of dull over summer." Waste of a good summer, that.

Luthas chuckled, “She would. And you’ll probably learn way more than you wanted to about making it.” He certainly knew far more than he cared to but it was a small price to pay for marital harmony.

“Boring is actually a good thing as an auror. It means that there’s nothing big going on, only petty crime.” And he hoped this summer would actually be a boring one. Having been in the force as long as he had been, he looked forward to the slow days where all he did was drink coffee and read reports. ‘And may I never get to the point of paranoia that a slow day means that something big is going to happen.’

He ruffled her hair like he used to do when she was little. Smiling at her squawk of protest, he laughed when she playfully attempted to bite his hand. He stood up and stretched, “I’ll talk to Tappy when he comes to pick you guys up.” He smirked slightly, “You’ll probably know his decision before I do.”
