House & Year: 1st year Ravenclaw

Physical Description:
Wynter  was born with a fine covering of light blonde hair, but as she grew older, the blonde turned to a dark brown with a reddish tint.  She has grown her hair out long because she likes the way her naturally curly hair straightens out to a loose wave with the weight of her hair.  Wynter is a normal eleven year old and doesn’t do much with her hair, most of the time just pulls it back from her face and pins it there with a cute butterfly pin.

Her eyes are a brownish – gold color.  She’s got her mother’s eyes.  She’s tall for her age, almost 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 95 pounds.  She wears the uniform during school hours, but on the weekend, she wears the clothes she is most comfortable in.  Blue jeans {preferably flared or bootcut}, long-sleeve shirts, and her worn pair of converse.

Personality Description:
Wynter has just turned eleven so she is still developing her personality.  She does have a habit of sticking her nose in other people’s business, but she’s quiet and has her mind working a mile a minute, trying to take in all of the magical things she sees.
She’s determined to make her mother realize that sending her to Hogwarts really was the best thing.  Wynter has been doing her top best in her subjects and some of them come really easy for her – like Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology.  Her mother told her though that those abilities came from her father and she should be proud of it.

While she’s a studious little girl, she also remembers to relax and have fun, so if there’s a game of exploding snap, gobstones, or just someone to chat with, she will be more than willing to drop what she’s doing and join in.

Though Wynter is mostly quiet, she does have a tendency, once in a while, to open her mouth at the wrong time. She’s quite sure she’s made a few enemies already this first year at Hogwarts, just because she decided to throw her spontaneous two cents worth in to a conversation and it was met with hostility.

History:
Anna Jade Frost was a wild young girl.  She hadn’t done well in her school subjects and though her parents think she pulled it together to graduate from high school, there were other reasons why she graduated.  She was very popular with the basketball and football boys.  But, on her 19th birthday, her parents discovered her wild side and sent her to live with her older grandmother in London.  Anna did not like living with her grandmother that she barely knew.  Mrs. Amelia Morgan was a stickler for the rules and had Anna on a tight leash.

She wasn’t allowed to go out on her own, she wasn’t allowed to do a lot of the things her parents had let her get away with. But Anna finally got tired of being stuck inside the old-fashioned house and waited until her grandmother took a nap and slipped out the back door into London.  She found her way into a pub and soon was three sheets to the wind and chatting up a young man sitting next to her at the bar.

His name was Matthias McDaniel and he was 25 years old.  He had just been left at the alter by his childhood sweetheart and had been drinking for several hours.  He thought  that Anna was a pretty cute girl and one thing led to another and late that night Anna snuck back into her grandmother’s house feeling better than she had in years.  Her grandmother was waiting up for her and let Anna know exactly what she thought about sneaking around and doing whatever she wanted.  Anna just rolled her eyes and went up to her room.

Two months later she was feeling really sick and her grandmother practically dragged her to the nearest doctor because she didn’t want to get sick.  The doctor took all the tests and 30 minutes later came back into the exam room and broke the news to both of them.  “Young lady, you are pregnant, almost 2 months along I’d guess.”  Anna’s grandmother turned beet red and Anna knew she was in for it when they got home.  They spent the rest of the appointment talking about everything Anna was going to need, but Anna barely heard it.  She was too busy thinking about the guy who she’d slept with and how was she going to find him and tell him he was going to be a father.

Once they got home, Anna’s grandmother surprised her by calling Anna’s parents and letting them know what was going on and asked that Anna be allowed to remain with her instead of going back home.   Once she got off the phone she walked up to Anna who was just standing by the staircase, and gave her a hug.  Evidently the prospect of a great-grandchild melted the heart of the old woman.

Anna wasn’t on restriction anymore.  She left early the next day and headed down to the pub she’d found 2 months ago and went inside.  She sat down at the bar and looked around, but she didn’t see the young man she’d talked to.  Two hours later she was about to leave and stepped down from the barstool and headed towards the door when she bumped into someone.  Looking up she noticed that it was Matthias.  “Hey cutie,” he said as he steadied her to keep her from falling, “What are you doing back in here?” he asked with a crooked smile.

Anna couldn’t help it, the tears started rolling down her face.  Matthias, being a typical man, was thrown off his game by the tears and motioned to the bartender that he was taking Anna into a back room so she wouldn’t be embarrassed by crying in the open.  He sat her down at one of the tables and then sat down across from her.  “What’s wrong, hon?” he asked her, truthfully not remembering her name.

Anna’s tears stopped long enough for her to explain everything and when she was done, Matthias’ face was almost completely devoid of color.  “You… I’m…. we…. You are?” he stuttered.  Anna nodded and Matthias got to his feet, “Why are you telling me?  Are you sure, I mean, you were flirting with several men that day.”  Anna’s tears forgotten, she stood and stared up slightly into his face, “Yes, I’ll admit it, but I only slept with one.”  Her tone matched his and Matthias was intrigued by someone who would stand up to him instead of conceding defeat.

They sat down and talked for a long time and then he led Anna to the door of the pub with a promise that he’d get in touch with her.  A week later Anna had a semi-cheap ring on her finger and Matthias had moved into Anna’s grandmother’s house.

~~10 months later~~

Wynter Rose Frost (her mother kept her maiden name) was born on a hot summer day and from that day on, Matthias and Anna began to act like a real family because even though both of them didn’t actually love each other yet, they did like each other and they wanted to raise Wynter in a stable home.  Matthias had written to his father and received his inheritance earlier than his 30th birthday. He bought a two story cottage not too far from Anna’s grandmother’s house and everything seemed to be going together until Wynter’s fourth birthday when, instead of blowing out the candles on her cake, made the flames burn twice as high.

Matthias had never told Anna he was a wizard.  Turns out Wynter had received his gift of magic. Surprisingly enough, Anna was fine with it.  She’d always been okay with the weird stuff, vampires, witches, unicorns and magic.  So life continued on for the little family and Anna slowly fell in love with Matthias.

But it was not going to last.  Tragedy struck the family 3 months after Wynter’s 8th birthday. Matthias was out working at his job at Gringotts. He helped out with the dragons in the lower part of the bank, mostly to make sure they were healthy.  He was sort of a magical veterinarian.  But the dragon he was seeing wasn’t being cooperative and singed three goblins, severely burned the dragon tamer, and the most of the flame hit Matthias full on. He was taken to St. Mungo’s by emergency portkey where he lasted all of 15 minutes before he gave in to the pain and slowly slipped into oblivion.

Matthias, however, knew that his job had a potential to be dangerous, so he left the rest of his inheritance in Wynter’s name so his father couldn’t try and get it back.  Anna was a wreck when she heard about what happened to Matthias and from that day forward couldn’t function normally.  She’d come to love him deeply.  So they moved back into Anna’s grandmother’s house and young Wynter was raised and guided by the older woman.

When Wynter got her Hogwarts letter Anna snapped out of her almost 2 year long depression and embraced the fact that her daughter was just like her husband and gladly accepted the help she received in going to Diagon Alley to get little Wynter’s supplies.  They got everything and then when it was time for Wynter to catch the train Anna held onto her for the longest time. Anna knelt down and put her hands on her daughter’s shoulders and looked her in the eyes and said, “Make me proud honey.” And with one last hug and a kiss to the forehead, she sent Wynter off to school.

Wynter's first semester at Hogwarts was difficult to start with.  She missed her mother terribly and that just made her miss her father even more... even though it had been 3 years since he passed.  The first couple weeks, Wynter barely left the common room, preferring to sit quietly on the couch, only leaving for classes and meals.  After those two weeks though, Wynter decided she better make the best of being at Hogwarts and learn all she can.  She started visiting the library and reading up on things that weren't being discussed in class and also about any magical creature she could find.

Wynter hadn't made any friends yet, but she knew most of the first years as acquaintances.  She just couldn't stop adding information to her brain.  She knew her father was good in Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology, so most of her questions to her fellow first years were about those two subjects.  She often found herself wishing she had the nerve enough to go and see kind of animals were in the forest, but she dared not.

Now that her first semester is behind her, Wynter is going to try and be more brave and ask the professors questions.  So far, she's been quiet in all her classes, preferring to retain the information instead of raising her hand and trying to understand it in class.  Even though she does her homework and listens well in class, she still has some problems with Transfiguration and Charms. She misses her mother deeply, but knows that she'll see her for summer break, so she's not too worried aobut it anymore

Wynter was chosen for Ravenclaw because the hat sensed her ability to retain large amounts of information.  (I don’t know what else to put here, I'm still thinking)

Writing Sample:
Draco placed one hand over his eyes and leaned his head back on the chair as he began, "10 years ago, my mother found out she was pregnant.  My father wasn't too thrilled, he already had an heir, he didn't want anymore kids.  Then, Lillian Rose Malfoy was born.  She was the spitting image of my mother, and was the sweetest little baby I'd ever seen.

She even softened my father's heart, my mother had told me that when I was a baby, Lucius hadn't held me at all, unless we were out in public, and at home when it was strictly necessary.  I remember though, my father's face when he held Lillie.  He wasn't a Death Eater, he wasn't a school governor, and he wasn't a pureblood supremacist.  He was a father.  Something he felt like he'd never been.

He'd show her off all the time, when company came over, she was the first and last thing they saw.  No more talk of overthrowing the Ministry, no more talk of just killing Harry Potter and his wife for the fun of it, it all stopped, he had even stopped letting former and current Death Eaters in the house for fear that they would covet what he considered his greatest treasure.  When she was four, everything changed."

He stopped to sit up and downed his glass of wine and get it filled up again, he downed that too.  "Father loved Lillie greatly, but by the age of four, he felt that her accidental magic would of shown up by then.  Little by little, he stopped doing things with her, and by the time she turned four and a half, he was back to normal.  Even to the point where he would completely ignore that he had a daughter.  It sickened me and worried my mother.  Father, once he lost interest in something, would either give it away, abandon it, or kill it.  And since he thought his own flesh and blood would betray him someday, he had made up his mind to take care of the "little problem" as he'd taken to calling her." he took a deep breath and a sip of wine, "Mother wasn't going to let him kill her only daughter.

So we devised a plan.  We dosed Lillie with the Draught of Living Death and covered her bed with fake blood.  The 'murder weapon' was planted under her pillow and then she and I left the house.  We knew that if he thought she was dead, he would order the house-elves to clean up the mess, but one of them was loyal to me instead of my father and he was going to be 'around' when father made the order.

He did, the elf was, and Lillie was safe.  At least until Lucius Malfoy found her.  And he did, 5 years ago.  I recieved an urgent owl from my mother while a very beautiful girl lay asleep by my side and I left without a word to protect my baby sister." He stopped and looked at Trisha, "That's the reason I left early that morning, I hadn't intended too, it's also the reason I was piss drunk and if it makes you feel any better, I had to get my mother to put me back together because I splinched myself trying to apparate drunk.

Lillie is 9 years old today, and since my father is dead and my mother is too old and frail to take care of a little girl, I legally adopted my sister.  It's why I haven't  spent a whole lot of nights here.  She doesn't like to be left alone. The End."
he said and downed the rest of the wine in his glass and looked her in the eyes.

He didn't want to leave, but if Trisha hated him for keeping this secret, he'd keep in touch with Gabriel, but he'd stay away from her, if that's what she wanted.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Wynter is a strong, silent girl who can sometimes have a severe case of foot-in-mouth disease.  She’s smart, witty, and easy to get along with and she hopes that this will help her get several friends in school.
