    Physical Description:
Cas is about six feet, dark blonde hair, blue eyes. He is tidy in appearance, dressed neatly at all times. He is average in build, a bit muscular but not overly so. Generally, he tries to appear amiable and harmless and usually wears a friendly smile. To most people he appears approachable, friendly, and good natured. He always has a flirty wink for the secretaries, a pat on the shoulder or shoulder bump for the guy coworkers, and a huge grin for those he asks a favor from. When annoyed he tries hard to mask it until he's alone, preferring to smile and act like nothing could ever bother him. He walks with purpose, his long legs keeping a fast pace, as if every destination is a long awaited goal.

He follows the standard dress code in the workplace, carefully pressed slacks, dress shirt and tie, under robes. His hair is his best feature, neatly cut though just a bit long, enough to be stylish but not enough to offend the older crowd. His shoes are shined so well you can almost see yourself in them, keeping up with his clothing fetish. He likes nice things, and takes care of them. Out side of work he still dresses carefully favoring wizarding fashions, and avoiding muggle styles at all costs. He only wears them as a sort of costume, in the rare event he must go about muggle London on a work related errand.

    Personality Description:
Cas loves attention, positive or negative. He is a major drama queen though he despises that quality in anyone else. He loves women and women's attentions though he has no interest of commitment. He's not frightened of it, it just doesn't appeal to him, and he makes that clear the next day, though it probably wasn't discussed the night before. He is an incredible flirt no matter what the age of his target is, though he probably wouldn't carry it through if she were really ancient. He doesn't waste his time on people with no money or influence and butters up anyone who looks like they have one or the other, or the potential to come into it eventually.

He has a very nasty temper, explosive when provoked. He loses it when things don't go his way, often destroying things before he can stop himself. He rarely apologizes because he tries not to let this nasty part of him be seen by anyone he is trying to impress. As for women, once he's bedded them and done with them, if they are nobodies he doesn't care what part of him they see, it just doesn't matter.

Very active physically, he is always on the move, often taking his messages himself, not for their sensitive nature but because he prefers walking quickly to relying on office memos. He is impatient and curt with underlings who mean little, and has no pity for the slow, the weak, or the frail unless it suits him to. He is always on the lookout for those connected with influence, and pretends he doesn't know the connection when he is amiable and reaches out to them. He is completely untrustworthy despite his angelic looks upon which he depends completely. He has no sense of morality, even though he holds those in his vicinity to the highest standards.

Not quite genius material, he was still smart enough to get good grades, and impress some of his professors. Hard work, a charming smile, and the ability to look sincere when conferring with professors went a long way. While he didn't stand out academically, his work ethic was enough to keep him in high standing with his fellow Hufflepuffs.

His pride in his attention to detail and his hard work carried over into his adult life as well. It hasn't helped him gain any ground as far as promotions, but he's not giving up yet. His ability to focus on a single goal might be called tunnel vision by some, but he prefers to think of it as being driven to succeed.

A big of a neatness freak this comes in handy at work, as he's never had to search for things for too long, and has an eye on everything in his department. Annoying to some, nevertheless even those who deride him for it end up at his desk at some point, looking for a particular form, or case study.

    History:

Cas comes from a poor background, a mixed marriage between a muggle woman and a halfblood father. How this came to be he's not sure though he has a suspicion a lot of alcohol, the backseat of a shady cinema, and elaborate promises were involved.

His father was charmed by his wife initially calling her a 'primitive savant' something that was meant to be flattering and was taken completely opposite. Job loss after job loss caused by his drinking led him to blame his muggle wife rather than shoulder the responsibility. The relationship became abusive quickly, until his mother sought the escape of drinking herself to hide from the misery of her life.

Their circumstances became almost unbearable, until his mother had Marlene. She was as beautiful as an angel when she was born, lacking the wrinkly face and misshapen head many newborns had. Long dark hair, completely aware black eyes, and a creamy complexion that was at war with the Crowley genetics led to love at first sight for Cas. Immediately he became her protector, and her favorite person. He was the one who sat up with her at night with a bottle, rocked her to sleep, and entertained her with simple puppet shows with his socks done up with marker and food coloring to resemble puppets.

No effort was too much for her, and he was constantly aware of where she was at all times, especially as his father began raging about her appearance not too long after she was born. He often took her outside to peek in at the neighbor's yard, the muggles inside unaware of them right near their side fence. They had a fountain and a pair of swans which made Marly laugh and kept them at rapt attention for good portions of the day, though the stately birds were often still.

One day after a louder than usual fight, their father began looking for them, and stared in wonder at the birds he never noticed until that moment, having nothing but disdain for his muggle neighbors, he never felt them worthy of his attention. That was forgotten and he was entranced by the grace and purity of them, until he heard Marly's girlish chortle and he stared down at her at first with awe at how a toddler so young could share the simple quiet joy, then with annoyance as if he remembered suddenly who she was.

The next day the fences were being built up higher, and as the old ones were being torn down, Cas saw why. The woman of the house, rarely seen from the back of the house, was sitting quietly in tears next to a pile of bloody feathers. He never looked inside their fence again, and never allowed Marlene near that fence, as the deceased birds were promptly replaced by vicious guard dogs.

Things passed on in the same miserable state getting worse and worse until Cas was almost eight. After a particularly nasty fight with his wife, ending in bloody bruises and swearing, he began beating Amanda's head against a wall until she finally screamed that she thanked god Marly wasn't his kid and even if she was she'd never admit it. Cas panicked and ran to his sister's sleeping place, a heavy quilt on the floor in his room. He had taken to sleeping on the floor with her since she began climbing out of her crib and he had become nervous about letting her walk around freely when his father was home. He raced to the room, beating his father to the punch, but barely. Completely oblivious to the noise, she slept through it, used to it from birth. The last thing he saw as he tried to reach the quilt where she was napping, was red lights from behind him, then nothing.

He woke up unsure of how much time had passed, in St. Mungo's. His mother, obliviated, was sent to a muggle police station with no memory of her mixed up life or her children, and his father was awaiting trial, in Azkaban. His sister was already buried, given a quick disposal as there were no relatives willing to pay for a funeral, and her cause of death was obvious. Aurors were sent to deliver the boy to a distant cousin on his father's side. Not much better than the man himself, he was still a few shades better than where Cas had been. The beatings were fewer though they didn't stop entirely, and he began to grow at an almost alarming speed once he began eating regularly. He didn't speak for weeks after the death of Marly, leading his cousin to believe he was mentally damaged at first, and he never referred to her directly again.

As time passed, he proved himself to be more than just some half starved skinny kid who could only run and fetch, and his cousin Owen took notice. At first it was little things, giving him tidbits of Wizarding history in passing, as if it were unimportant, then quizzing him later to see how much he had remembered without prompting. When Cas surprised him with how much he retained, not only what he was told but what he observed on his own, Owen began to watch him quietly and make his own evaluation. What began as a survival trait, watching, paying attention to physical and facial clues, turned into a useful tool in guessing truthfulness and sometimes motivation.

Owen began teaching him in earnest when the boy reached ten, not only in lore but in basic spellwork, with an aim of preparing him for Hogwarts. The boy was a burden to be sure, but he'd not have someone living under his roof with that much potential wasted. Cas would someday prove to be not only useful in the years to come, but would be a credit to his family name, probably the one redeeming factor on his side of the family and he intended to find a way to benefit from it some way in the future.

Hogwarts years were mostly quiet for him. He spent most of his time studying and watching his classmates, staying under the radar. While he had the basics provided for him, there were few luxuries such as brooms, unless it was an academic pursuit. Cas was a little resentful, but learned early on not to complain, and he knew it would only be a matter of time before he graduated anyway, so he shrugged it off as not worth a fight. He was almost silent, did well enough in his studies, and became the epitome of Hufflepuff standards.

Hard working, focused and diligent. He made a few casual friends, but never invited anyone to visit for obvious reasons, and was never allowed to accept invitations in return. While it might have led to rumors and rampant speculation in other houses, Hufflepuffs were a live and let live type of breed and he was left to his own devices.

After graduating, Owen gave him a month's money for lodging and a referral from a friend at the Ministry to get him started on his way. Cas began as a clerk, and was shifted from department to department as needed.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:

Cas is pretty much an untitled gopher, Muggle Liason office, level 3. He files, gets tea, shows visitors to the correct office, and runs correspondence/packages that are too sensitive for inter office memos to their destination. He's fast on his feet and on them all day, and uses this to eye everything that's going on without being obvious about it. He has no real title, and tries not to show his resentment over it, though he feels he should be at least a personal assistant by now.
Lately he has been taking charge of paperwork, lending himself out to field agents who disdain filing reports on time, in the hope he can get advance word of a higher position when it opens up.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
It's pretty much an entry level position just a basic knowledge of the alphabet, and the ability to keep sandwich orders straight in his head keeps him there. Though with any government job, magical or otherwise, he probably had to have a friend to get him in the door. From time to time he is given a look at things that others deem beneath their expertise, more in recent months, and he hopes its a sign of finally being recognized for his competence and dedication.

    Writing Sample:
Gaunt made a stunning entrance, snarling at nothing, slamming his door open and letting his robes billow behind him as he moved swiftly to the front of the room. Glaring at the students, he began his yearly lecture.
"I am Professor Gaunt. I am responsible for pounding information into your mostly unused brains this term. Under my tutelage you will learn how to clean your implements, as well as the difference between shredding, chopping, paring and peeling. You will follow my instructions exactly, and anyone who is unable to do so will find themselves in sorry circumstances.
"Since I doubt any of your parents are any more capable than any of you as far as being able to follow a simple set of instructions, you will each lay out your potions kits, cauldrons and other supplies for inspection."
    "NOW!"
Reginald swept down the aisles, examining everything with fine precision. He muttered under his breath, held certain vials up to the light, sniffed contents of packages and was mostly fine. Until he saw some tiny Hufflepuff with her things in pink plastic containers and lost it.
"What is wrong with you? Didn't your letter clearly state plain clearly plain glass vials? Oh, let me guess, you're SPECIAL? right? WRONG!" he continued to scream in this manner, and swept all the offending objects into the trash.
"What if the cheap plastic coating on those containers fell into your potions? What would you say to your partners parents? Sorry Mr suchandsuch. your daughter died because my pretty pink container of alihotsy chipped into our calming draught?"
Finally the girl started to shake and a few tears fell. Having achieved his aims, he left and went to look for someone else.
"Very good Misery, though we don't require arsenic this term." he continued nodding at some students, and moving quickly through the ranks.
    "Excellent Azalea, as usual."
    "Miss Benson, acceptable"
    "Miss Takahashi, very good, again"
He came to the fifth year and stared her down. He went back to his desk to find the young womans name. Delilah. Figured she'd get some kind of frilly girly hufflepuff type name. And blonde to boot.
"Miss Johnson what the hell, pray tell is that on your desk? Is that a cauldron, or a bathtub? Since when do you come to my class with a cauldron five sizes too large? Do you think you are better than everyone else? Unnecessary for you to meet my specifications? Tell me, when the Ministry begins your OWLs, will you disregard their instructions and just do as you wish?"
He continued for a few moments, before banishing the item on Miss Johnson's desk. Stupid girl would just have to buy a new one on the next Hogsmeade weekend.
Then his gaze fell on ...pink glass scales?
For once in his life, he was at a total loss for words.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Cas is a pretty, embittered, smiling on the outside type of person. He has his own agendas, and is very driven to move up, which makes him even more resentful towards his superiors, as he feels he should be higher than he is already. He blames cronyism, and elitism for this, and is privately looking for someone to take it all out on.
