The thought of her sister sent Rowena glancing about again, but more carefully this time, and she managed to follow Michael with relative ease. "But they don't invite parents to most of them." She frowned, and tipped her head at another odd angle. After this dance, she really would have to fix her hair. It kept getting in her face!"Are you looking forward to seeing your family?" That bit of hair was stubborn, and so when her hand was free for a moment she reached up to tuck it back behind her ear. "And thank you. It's hard to fix clothes properly, though."She fell quiet for a moment, as the music swelled and she lost herself in her thoughts. "I could write Cousin Darian and ask him, though. He'd know! He knows everything about clothes." Considering the fact that he was currently dancing with one, now was definitely not a good time to be asking. For that matter, was there ever a good time to be asking? He had absolutely no idea. "I'll take it that you and Sophia have plenty of occasions to wear them."He couldn't help but to nod at Rowena's confirmation that parents in such high ranking positions weren't always invited. "Yeah, this one is unique like that. But, they probably would have another one before the end of the school year..." he assumed, given the tournament and everything. Family. It was just about Christmas break and the students would be sent home to their families for the holidays. It felt like only just yesterday that he first arrived at the vast castle. Of course he would be coming back after the holidays, but it sounded like it would be an eternity away. "Yes, I am. It seems like only yesterday I left them to board the train to come here. Time surely flies in that short span," he added with a nod. Tilting his head slightly, as he continued to dance with Rowena, Mike attempted to remember where he heard the name of Darian before. "Darian ... as in Darian Morgan?" he asked as soon as the name popped in his mind. He vaguely remembered some conversations among his parents that the name was tossed around. He apparently owned some clothing business. But I miss home, and having my own room and everything. And Mum and Father, of course." She twirled a little. "Think the break will go swiftly, too? I want to plant some herbs for potions later!" The school herbs were nice but she was very curious about if it would improve things with growing her own. The question about Darian got the start of a fervent nod, one which Rowena stopped almost as it started. Nods were not a part of dancing! "Yes, Darian Morgan. He's my cousin. Mum gets clothes from him sometimes. He's got a shop in Diagon Alley." She felt the stick move in her hair a little, but not enough for it to fall out."Some of his clothing is odd, but some is really pretty. Might ask if we can visit over break, just to see him." She hadn't seen him for months and months. That was almost forever. "As smooth as it could after being away for a few months," he chuckled, "But, it already sounds like you have an idea for what you're going to do. Would growing them yourself make a big difference?" The supply would certainly be fresher. But, he had no idea if that truly mattered. While dancing with Rowena, he nearly missed her fervent nod to his question. It started very quickly, and then stopped very quickly. Apparently this Darian Morgan fellow was an interesting bloke. Well, interesting enough to capture Rowena's interest anyway. But, he couldn't recall seeing this clothing shop. Unlike Rowena, and most likely most girls, he didn't travel to Diagon Alley to shop for clothes. It was just so boring for him!"It seems like you're really like his work, especially since you have such a good preference." It wasn't as if he specifically admired any of the girl's clothing. But, even he could tell that Rowena, and likewise Sophia for that matter, both dressed elegantly a lot. They had to, potions were touchy like that, and she wanted to get them all right. And boys didn't understand clothes at all. "He mostly makes men's stuff, though he's made Mum a bunch of dresses and such. They're pretty, but I don't think I'll get any until I'm older. Maybe for Christmas." Christmas was good for pretty things, and fuzzy things, and sweet things. Kittens would be better than dresses, though. The music softened, then faded away, and Rowena came to a stop and smiled over at her dance partner. "I think it's Yadira's turn. Thank you very much for the dance." She'd decided she liked dancing. Maybe they'd have more of it at school. Skip to next post
