Wand: Yadira's wand chose her after many attempts to find the correct wand at Ollivanders. It's a seven inch, inflexable spruce wand with a dragon heartstring core. It has a smooth shaft with one knot on the bottom end.

Physical Description:  Yadira is a happy looking girl of twelve, with medium brown hair that reaches just past her shoulders. She's on the shorter end being  five feet tall. She has a heart shaped face with a small nose and striking blue eyes. Her smile, which is her best feature, is slightly crooked which gives her an air of mischief. She is not a big fan of her school uniform, missing her normal muggle clothes like tee shirts and jeans which she wears any time she can.


Personality Description: Yadira is a girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life. If something catches her eye she will keep going for it until its hers, even if she then tosses it out without a second glance. She is enthralled with the act of questing for the things that she thinks she needs.  She's stubborn and prone to holding grudges but she is fiercely loyal and would do anything to protect the people and things that she cares about. She finds it hard to make lots of friends but the ones she does make tend to be very close, almost like family.

She doesn't want anyone to think she is weak. Her pride doesn't let her show any form of weakness in front of people if she can help it and if she can't she gets fiercely angry with herself.  She misses the muggle world and living with her bothers and her parents. She is amazed by the wizarding world but is not impressed with the apparent time warp that it presents. In particular she misses watching the telly.

She doesn't like being bored. If her attention is waning she will find something to do, if she can. Back in the muggle world this meant a lot of reading and watching the telly. At school she is prone to looking for adventure. She makes up stories about the Forbidden Forest, which she daydreams about visiting.

History: Yadira was born the third child of a muggle family. Her American parents had moved to Cardiff in their youth and settled down there to raise their children, Jovany, Sebastian, and Yadira.

Being the youngest and the only girl Yadira learned to take care of herself. She'd watch what her brothers did and tried to learn to be like them, though she always made sure to take note of what they got in trouble for. She was spoiled by her parents and her extended family, whenever they could visit. Being the only girl and the youngest meant that she could get away with almost anything and she would try it.

When she was six she decided that she wanted to go to the Land of Oz and join Jinjur and the all girl army she'd read about in her favorite book. She liked that the girls all banded together to get what they wanted and she wanted to be like that. She staged her own rebellion and charged into her parents room to take all of the jewelry from her mother's jewelry box because that's what the girls from Oz wanted.

She was surprised when she got her letter, not knowing anything about the wizarding world. While she hadn't noticed anything odd about herself, her family knew that she was different. It just seemed like she got what she wanted even if there seemed no way she could.

At first when she arrived at school Yadria was delighted with the newness of everything. It was like finding her very own personal Oz to explore. As she settled in she decided a few things, she liked any class she could really use her wand in, her favorite being Charms. She did like History of Magic and since a few weeks after school started she's been sneaking in some of her favorite books to read to pass the time.

She loves the tournament and is more than a little jealous of those that get to participate. It's the closest she's ever seen to a real quest like the ones in her books. She is a little scared that she wont like school as much next year because it won't have as much excitement, but she is determined to enjoy it while it lasts.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:  Yadira fits in her Gryffindor because she isn't willing to not be brave. If something scares her she has to do it if only to prove to herself that she can.  She thinks people should help one another when they need it and she sticks up for herself and her friends.


Writing Sample: Yadira crinkled her nose as she walked into the wand shop. This was what she'd been most excited about when she got her letter. A real life magic wand would be amazing. She was sure that a shop that would sell wands would be the most exciting sort of place. Instead it was dim and filled with walls and walls of long narrow boxes.

She went up to the nearest shelf and glanced back at her mother. Most days her mother would have reprimanded her for getting into things she wasn't supposed to. Today was different, it was scary and new and her mother looked just as scared as Yadira felt. She picked up a box and peeked inside.

The wand was very short and made out of a very dark wood, it looked heavy being wider around than she thought a wand ought to be. There were delicate carvings along it, spirals and swirls and symbols she couldn't quite decide what they meant. She shot a look at her mother and picked it up. Nothing. She wasn't sure what she had wanted to happen but felt disappointed when nothing happened at all.

It's ugly anyway, she thought to herself as she put it back, carefully replacing the lid on the box.

"Mum, I don't like it here," she said. "I think there might be spiders."


Sum up your character in one paragraph:  Yadira is a strong willed little girl who wants to be able to do anything she sets her mind to. She's got a lot of drive if she sets her mind on something, and will work for it. She isn't easy to befriend but once you get to her she is fiercely loyal and would give you the world if you asked.
