Frank had no idea what phallic meant but there didn't seem to him anything particularly sexy about a cherry.  Maybe it was kind of red and heart-shaped.  Maybe that's what phallic meant.  Anyway, Sophia was laying down the Sophia Charm on Lucas who'd dared to prod her - always good for a laugh.  He was just glad it wasn't him.

And then Lucas was on about kissing with tongues.  "Augh...!" Frank moaned.  "That's what this was for.  Nasty!"  And he gave Lucas a light punch in the shoulder.  He didn't want anyone's tongue in his mouth.  He'd never think of cherries the same...!

Then, Frank rolled his eyes at Thales's silly coin trick.

"That's muggle magic," he said, using a common phrase for illusions done without a wand or any real magic.  "Actually, you can't conjure gold from nothing you know.  It's the law.   You actually can't transfigure gold very much at all.  It's almost impossible.  That's why it makes for such good money."

He sat down and rested his head boredly on his hand.  The ball was still going on full tilt and all the older people seemed content to stand around and talk and drink drinks.
Lucas laughed at Frank. He was so technical about things. Then again he was put in Ravenclaw for a reason. He liked the differences in the people he was with. Sophia all proper and poised. Frank with his camera and technical descriptions for things. Noah so shy but brilliant. Then Thales who was more like him. They all had their reasons and he loved it. He was glad he was put in the house. Speaking of Thales...

"C'mon buddy! I'll dance with ya!"

Lucas stood up and took Thales's hand and put his other hand on Thales's shoulder and began swaying side to side very dramatically and laughing. If anything, it would help loosen everyone up a bit. That and it was fun.
Left now with Frank and Noah, Sophia looked over at them and gave them both a rather pointed glare. Not a one of them better ask her to dance, because the answer would have been no. Unless they begged of course, and then she would laugh first before saying no.

"Actually, Frank." She countered his tale about gold, "If it's pure gold perhaps, but what about fools gold?" If the word 'actually' were ever to be removed from either Frank or Sophia's vocabulary there wouldn't be much that would ever be said.

"And though it is against the law, it's still able to be done. And there isn't such a thing as muggle magic. It's just sleight of hand." She should have just stuck her tongue out at him, but instead stuck her nose up.

"Have a good evening, Gentleman." And with that Sophia went off to find her father.
Thales pretended to swoon when Lucas took his hand, and, as he stood up to accompany Lucas to the dance floor, he made a last comment towards Sophia and Frank.

"Actually", he said smirking, imitating Sophia and Frank, "Sickles are made of silver. Bye, Sophia!"

Laughing, he began to dance with Lucas, imitating his exaggerated movements, and not caring if he seemed silly doing so. It was fun!  Thales looked at Lucas and his smile widened. Lucas was so much fun to be around! Since he became friends with him, he couldn't remember a day in which he got bored. Sure, sometimes he got in trouble, not as much as Lucas, of course, but he knew he could count on him.

"Hey, Lucas..."

Lucas was a good friend, indeed. He knew how to be funny without being mean, as the crane prank demonstrated. In fact, he knew a lot, not being in Ravenclaw for nothing. Their pranks were very elaborated, and he doubted someone who wasn't smart could pull them off. He was loyal, too, always there for him, and Thales could feel comfortable in his presence, not needing to stay on guard. Not to mention his looks weren't bad...
Thales face froze for a moment. Was he... liking liking Lucas!? That was... awkward. He felt his face blushing a little, and he now knew he couldn't get rid of the grin on his face.

"Thanks for dancing with me, bud. I needed to move, you know?"

Thales pushed his thoughts away. Now he was dancing with Lucas, and he wouldn't dare to not enjoy every single moment of it.
Noah shrunk a bit at the glare, raising a hand to nervously go through his askew hair, if for nothing but to get something for it to do. He had wanted to talk solutions for that 'problem'  for a moment, but before he was able to regain himself, Sophia had already dashed off, further changing pace.

"Aheh." he chuckled a bit nervously, looking to Frank, "I think that if she tried holding her nose higher she might fall over backwards, eh?" he quipped to try and find footing. He liked these guys, even if he didn't know them rather well and rarely risked bothering them in order to get to know them. There was an energy about them that was very attractive to him in comparison to the books he was used to.
Frank rolled his eyes mightily when Sophia contradicted him.  Then he rolled them again when she left to go find her parents.  Thales and Lucas were dinking about nearby and here Frank was with Noah.

He scoffed good-naturedly at Noah's keen observation about Sophia's nasal altitude.

"She's not even right," he insisted.  "You actually can't transfigured real gold.  It's against the laws of magic.  Duh! Gamp's Law!"  But oh well.  She was gone and Frank knew Noah believed him.

"Hey, is there cake? I want some..."
When Thales's face froze, Lucas looked at him confused a moment. He didn't think he had done anything wrong. That was usually the look people gave him when he had upset them or something. Then Thales grinned and he knew everything was alright. He was just afraid he had done something to upset his best friend. He was so glad he hadn't.

"It's no problem. I think we both needed to move a bit! I can't stand sitting around doing nothing like that. It makes me antsy."

He continued laughing and dancing until the song ended. When it did, Lucas squeezed Thales's hand and shoulder. He didn't actually expect Thales to dance with him, but he was happy for it. They got a few odd looks about it, but he didn't care. He was having fun and that was all that mattered.

"I didn't expect you do dance the whole song but I'm glad you did! That was so much fun!" he said as he laughed and patted Thales on the back. "Come on. Let's get some punch or cake or something."
