Rowena had a pile of  notes in front of her, a couple of which were marred with dried tea stains from earlier. Potions wasn't a class she had found difficult so far, but if she studied ahead a bit it could only help. And it meant she would be truly free for a bit more fun later.

She did want to make Father proud, as well. Which was why there were notes from her other subjects there also. The kitten seemed within her grasp, but she wasn't going to let it escape her.

Aaaah, yes. That was just the thought. She reached her hand back to pull a slightly battered quill from her hair. Unfortunately, this also made her lean back just a little too far, and she plopped from the stool onto the floor with a soft thunk. Between the dress and the cloak she had a little bit of a cushion. She shook her head and stared up, knocking another quill out in the process.
Sybil liked coming into the library after class, especially when it was almost empty like this. Shelf after hallowed shelf lined the walls, decked with tomes of all sorts from classic handbooks to whimsical fairytales. Surrounded by them were enough tables and chairs to seat dozens, each one of them looking as inviting as the other in their warm woodiness. Clutching her books(including her precious sketchbook wedged between them, of course), Sybil made her way into the gigantic library, inhaling deeply as if to absorb all the amazing knowledge that awaited her among those shelves. It made her happy and full and excited to be in the midst of books like this. Sybil smiled wanly as she made her way toward the table at the far right corner-- at least until a thud stopped her.

'Ah!' Sybil let out a little gasp as she dropped her books on the floor and ran towards the table some way to the left-- a girl had just fallen off her chair and she looked quite dazed, sitting there and shaking her head. Was she okay? No, she couldn't ask. Sybil greatly wished she could open her mouth and ask, but the mere thought of it made her go a bit white in the face. Picking up the quill that had fallen to the floor, she reached out her hand to help the girl up.

Oh, there was someone else there. Rowena looked up at the other student and grinned. She vaguely recognized her, but from what she remembered the other girl was Ravenclaw and in her year. Sophia hadn't mentioned her, that she could remember.

"Thanks!" She took the proffered hand to help herself back up. "Don't worry, I didn't even bruise anything. Father has always said I have a rather hard head."

A page of notes, which until now had wavered on the edge of the table, finally unbalanced and began to waft down. She snatched her free hand out to catch them. "Awww. I'll have to sort them again." As much as she tried to look proper, Rowena couldn't hide a bit of a pout at the thought. She did want to go outside as much as she wanted to attend to her reading.
"Don't worry, I didn't even bruise anything. Father has always said I have a rather hard head."

Sybil almost giggled at the comment. A hard head, like one of those eggs in egg-cups in the morning you couldn't crack even if you banged and banged at the table-- a terrible image of the girl with an egg-head popped into her mind and made her laugh. At least on the inside. All Sybil showed was the faintest ghost of a smile- no, she couldn't laugh in front of a stranger! She'd think her strange, really. And now she'd done her part and made sure the girl was okay, Sybil felt she really shouldn't linger around much longer. As if there were demons chasing her, she turned hurriedly, about to make her way back to the table at the corner--

--at least until the girl started complaining about her notes being messy. Sybil really hated turning back once she'd made up her mind. What if the girl thought she was a busybody? Would she find her strange, being so contrary and fickle? Oh well. She knew she had to help or else. Bending down, she picked up the rest of the sheets that had fallen to the floor and arranged them in a neat stack before holding them out to the girl.
Sophia moved in to take the sheets, giving Sybil a polite smile before turning her annoyance on her sister, "You know that I heard that all the way over there." A thin brow raised to her rambunctious other half, and she shook her head. Had Rowena even brushed her hair today? Taken a bath? She smelled like sea air and old books...typical. Someday, she would learn to envy her sister's free-spirit, but right now all Sophia could concern herself with was making sure her twin stayed on task.

"Finals start tomorrow, let's not forget." Placing the notes out, she did her best not to try and spy. However, the very practical nature of his demeanor was concerned that her sister wouldn't pass any of her classes at all, and would be kicked out on her first year. (Of course having little proof of the matter, but she still wanted to be prepared.)

"Would you like to join us, Sybil?" Sophia asked with a kind smile to the very mouse like girl across from them, and moved her hand to brush her sister's hair back from her face--checking for bruises without even thinking. "Are you ready for finals? I'll quiz you if you'd like." She knew the girl didn't talk too much, but she could wager that Sybil was one of those sorts that didn't need to even look up from her book to carry a conversation. It was like looking in a mirror.

"I'm fine, Sophia." Rowena was glad to see her sister, even if she was a bit overbearing at times. Just because Mum had gotten herself into St. Mungo's from being knocked about, well, didn't mean that Rowena couldn't handle a tumble. "And I reviewed for most of my classes already."

She shook her head a little once Sophia had inspected it, knocking curls of red hair back into place. "Just look at the notes, it's not as if they're dreadful. I do want a kitten." It wasn't just why she'd studied so hard, but it didn't hurt. Mum and Father would be so disappointed if she did poorly. And all her classes were still new, without the sheen wore off of them.

"And thanks, Sybil." There was one of Rowena's warm, enthused smiles. "Quizzing is better with more people!" And she knew her sister too well. New people were better.
At that moment, Sybil came face-to-face with another girl who took the notes from her hand. That girl, she looked exactly like the first girl! Wait a minute, these twins were the ones she'd seen in class. Both first-years, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Sophia and Rowena! In her anxiety to get away, she'd even forgotten their names and faces. She actually knew everyone in her class by name and face, though she had never spoken to most of them. It was one of those little habits of hers, to have a people-cataloguing system in her head.

"Would you like to join us, Sybil?" Sophia asked in a friendly manner, checking her sister for bruises-- what a nice gesture. Rowena thanked her and asked her to come over as well before reassuring her sister about the severity of her fall. Sybil sometimes wished she had a sibling too; Grandma was lovely but she wasn't an entire family. Never mind that though-- had Sophia just asked Sybil to sit with her? Honestly, she'd really wanted to go sit at her usual table so she could draw and read without having to fear people and talk to people and everything. But how could she possibly refuse when asked so nicely? Biting her lip, Sybil gave a small nod. She hugged her sketchbook tight to her, plopping down on the chair gently and peeking up at the girls just a little.

"I finished studying... but I could quiz you two..." Sybil's face went red and her voice was barely more than a whisper. How daring of her-- she hoped they wouldn't think she was acting all high and mighty or anything.
"Kittens are messy, they shed everywhere, and it would just be one more thing you would have to clean after," Sophia said with a little exasperation, but silently agreed with her sister. She secretly wanted a kitten too, but just figured that would never happen. Actually, she wanted a cat, but one had to start small.

"And though I'm sure your notes are fine, it wouldn't hurt to have a few extra lessons. It's our first year, and we want to make father and mother happy, right?" In truth she was worried about her own grades, having been caught up in all of the books on Runes instead of studying, but Sophia was a rather manipulating young girl who wouldn't dare admit defeat.

"That would be lovely, Cybil. Why don't you tell us where you need the most help, Rowena?"
"And if you didn't want one Mum wouldn't have mentioned them for Christmas." Rowena stuck her tongue out at her sister, then shot a smile at Sybil as the shy girl sat down nearby.

"Why don't you tell us where you need the most help, Rowena?"

"History. And then Transfiguration." History was one of Rowena's best classes, if not her favorite. But it reminded her of Father's stories. Alternately thrilling and dry as dust. Precedence from two hundred years ago regarding sheep-shearing was boring. So boring. Even if was apparently of great legal importance.

"I've been trying to take notes on the castle everywhere I go! And one of the portraits told me my hair was pretty." She hadn't been able to find it again. The stairs were dreadful sometimes. "Some of my notes are in the book still." Said book was soon pulled out, and she held it out towards Sophia, then Sybil, in uncertainty.
