Wand: As if by magic, the wand that chose young Noah was extremely similar to his father’s own. It is a 11” Oak wand with a Hippogriff feather.

    Physical Description:
Noah is a typical scruffy 11 year old boy. His hair falls in a shaggy mop over his head, once a bright blond; now a mousy brown, covering his ears, eyes and whatever else it can reach when left uncut. He still possesses a cute babyish face. His features are soft, his skin pale like his father’s and his eyes a bright piercing blue unlike either parent. Noah Pratt also possesses a winning smile, the Pratt cheeky grin that every male Pratt seemed to have.

When at home with stern parental eye cast upon him, Noah will wear clean, smart, crease-free clothing. Or that’s what it looks like when it goes on in the morning. By lunchtime he still manages to be covered in all manner of interesting things. It’s very obvious the boy is one used to growing up in the countryside, as it is always evident he enjoys playing outside. At Hogwarts his uniform is normally fairly unkempt, his boots muddy and his shirt never tucked in. He could be described as a homeless imp by some. A lot of his clothes have been made by grandparents or bought second hand.

Coming from Yorkshire and growing up with a father with such a strong accent, Noah speaks with an accent himself. Thanks to his mother’s influence, the boy’s accent isn’t overly strong, but it is there. When excited or tired it definitely gets thicker and occasionally intelligible to some.

    Personality Description:
Noah shies away from hard work. He would much rather be outside messing about than doing homework. He would much rather be wrestling the legendary giant squid than doing homework. Yet that doesn’t mean he isn’t smart. He is a bright kid, which is the problem. His attention span of a troll yet the intelligence of a sphinx. This means that homework is rarely done and classes are survived through fidgeting, bothering his friends and doodling.

With a mind never stopping, Noah is very interested in the world around him. He will fiddle with anything, dip his finger into mysterious gloop and lick it, see what happens if he tries to dye his toad Kevin blue and just about anything else an eleven year old curious mind can come up with. He relishes pranking people, Quidditch, and blowing things up. He also enjoys exploring. Tell Noah not to go somewhere or not to touch something and he will do it. He classes himself as brave, a future auror like his dad, a future explorer, a future famous quidditch player and whatever else he can think of that day.

Although Noah can be fairly hyperactive and disruptive, he is a good hearted kid. He will see someone in trouble and try to help. He will support friends or family in trouble and tries to be the man of the house at home with his mum. He doesn’t, however, like sharing or being criticised. These are the times when Noah’s temper will flare. He doesn’t accept being told off well and doesn’t appreciate authority. In short, he is every bit his father. Troublesome but good hearted and brave. A short temper yet mostly jovial and cheeky.

    History:
Noah Pratt was the first of four children born to Edward Pratt and Quincy St James. He was born to young and inexperienced parents. His father Edward, had been unsuccessfully chasing his dream of quidditch stardom, funded by merlin knew what while his mother Quincy had been training diligently to become a healer. She was a pureblood witch living with Eddie, a halfblood seeker with shaggy blond hair and equally shaggy clothes. And it had worked until she’d informed Eddie of the pregnancy.

Noah’s dad had been forced to find real work with a young baby on the way. He signed himself up to auror training and Quincy had to quit her own training once she got too big to work a ward, standing on her feet all day. The couple ended up marrying quickly, funded by Quincy’s parents and with Eddie the breadwinner for the family, he convinced his wife to move up north to Yorkshire.

Noah was born boxing day 1998. Despite not having been expected or planned and having parents who didn’t know the first thing about having children, the boy was showered in love from parents, grandparents and extended family. He grew up in an isolated cottage next to the village of Ugglebarnby. The war continued around them but Noah was too young to be aware. They were too remote to be bothered. His dad constantly worked but he never wanted for anything having his mother there.

For a few years it was lovely and quiet; until Noah’s parents decided to have another child. Natasha arrived and Noah had to share everything. He hadn’t understood what was happening before the baby arrived. His mam got angry and sometimes started crying, she got fatter and fatter and his parents began to decorate him playroom pink, moving his toys into a much smaller, darker room.

5 years later the same thing happened again but Noah knew what it was this time and he didn’t like it very much.  Natasha was a pain in the bum with stealing all his toys, whining to their dad and generally being annoying. What would happen with another Natasha??

But this was a boy. A screaming, pain in the bum boy. A silly boy that arrived shortly before his dad moved out. Noah didn’t understand what had happened. All he saw was a sad mum telling him that his Dad would no longer be living with them.

Something Noah didn’t understand was another baby arriving about a year after his dad moved out. Brooke was born into the family in March 2009 and immediately after Noah and the family moved out of their house to go and live in a shack in the middle of nowhere. Their Dad was in trouble with work, Noah understood that from hearing talks between his parents. He decided this was the time to be a grown up, man of the house and he helped his mum as much as he could while they stayed in the shack. While there, Noah’s grandparents died. He was told it was an accident but he knew it was something to do with why they’d been moved to the shack. He was a smart boy. It upset him greatly but he still wanted to be brave for his mum and dad. It was about a month before they all moved back home.

A few months later, to his absolute delight, Noah received his Hogwarts acceptance letter. He was taken to platform 9 ¾ and waved off by a crying mother and a proud father as the Hogwarts Express zoomed into the distance.

Being sorted into Gryffindor was a surprise for the family considering Noah’s parents were both Slytherins. His mum didn’t seem to mind too much in the letters but Noah could tell his dad wasn’t much impressed. It didn’t bother him a lot, though, his pap was a grumpy old wizard anyway. He rather liked Gryffindor.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Noah, while occasionally wearisome, is a smart, good natured young boy. He isn’t malicious, but he gets himself into fair amounts of trouble through a hyperactive mind and an inability to sit still for too long. Gryffindor is the house known for its bravery, for its chivalry and sometimes its short tempers and recklessness. In certain areas this sums Noah up to a tee. He barely has any thought for his actions, acts on his emotions and has little fear for repercussions.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Noah is a young boy from North Yorkshire with the attention span of a nat, the intelligence of a Ravenclaw and very little cunning. He is bold without thought and likes to put his hands in undeterminable gloop. He wants to be everything when he is older yet work very little to get it. He is cheeky and charming yet troublesome when bored.
