[Dec. 20] Now That's A Familiar Face (Roger)

    on January 15, 2013, 08:22:49 PM

The platform at Kings Cross was filled to the brim with students fetching luggage, hugging friends goodbye, and rushing off to be reunited with various family members. A few nervous first-years were grouped together, most of them looking like their homesickness was finally put to ease.

There was a surprising amount of bittersweet goodbyes being whispered between the older years, as if some of them were beginning to realize that their days in school were numbered and the countdown was on.

Angie stepped off of the train, behind a large amount of students, and pulled her jacket close around her; buttoning it up as she went to retrieve her luggage. The light gray pea coat Angie had packed with her was reminiscent of the typical rainy London weather and the fog that came with it, it was her favorite jacket to wear and the most comfortable one she had.

Paired with her flat grey lace-ups and blue jeans, Angie was set for the day. She slipped through the crowd with a few smiles directed at departing friends. And after a good amount of time spent trying to find her luggage, she towed it behind her, making her way off of the platform.

She scanned the crowd for her older brother; her stomach a mix of butterflies and pure excitement. Hoping he would spot her first, (she was terrible at navigating crowds and searching for people), she made her way through the thickest part of the crowd.

Feeling quite confused, Angie stepped off to the side; where she set her bag down and pulled a hair band off of her wrist, sweeping her long hair into a quick ponytail. Maybe she would actually be able to see Roger now that her hair was out of her face.

It were rackin' at his nerves, comin' to get Angie.

Not that he didn't much want t'see the wee lass but Roger Lemon was also painfully aware that a certain- less li'l - redhead would be skippin' off the same train as his sister. But there were tons of kids gettin' home from Hogwarts an' he knew that the odds were with him.

So off he went wading through the crowds've parents an' nannies an' worry wart sibs,  easily recognized by his crumply leather jacket. Warm but never warm enough. It were easy lookin' over the small 'uns as they stepped off the Express, eyes flooded with a feelin' that Roger would never be able to experience. He saw her first from behind- he knew the girls be'er than anythin'.

"Oi!" the squib exclaimed, grinning as he swooped in and hauled Angie up by her underarms. "ow is me wee Lemon? 'ow is ye?" he hugged her tight before lettin' 'er go. A warm hand ruffled the blonde locks affectionately. "Ye got 'eavy, Angie."

Angie let out a squeal of delight as Roger came from behind her, she grabbed the arms around her front; stabilizing herself because otherwise she felt like she could have fallen. "Hey!" She shouted as he set her down, spinning around to face him.

He reached out to ruffle her hair, effectively ruining any shot she had with the ponytail she'd just put up. Laughing, she pulled the band out; the now ruffled locks falling back down where she liked them. "Hell, Roger," she said, "You scared me!" Suddenly, her hand shot up to cover her mouth, "Oh, don't tell Mom I swore. She'd kill me."

She smiled, throwing her arms around her brother again and squeezing tightly, she was so happy to see him. Angie always loved coming home for the Holiday. "Course I got 'eavy," she said, mimicking her brother's coarser accent which she had been able to shed during her time at Hogwarts.

The blonde grinned for good measure, sarcastically mimicking Roger again, "And 'ow is ye, my not so wee Lemon?"

Roger grinned crookedly at his sister, not mindin' 'er swearin' ways. Lass had t'be tough t'get 'round town nowadays without bein' run over. He glanced at her luggage - wishin' it were easy as a charm t'pick up - and then back to Angie, laughing at the imitation. Did he really sound like that? Bloody 'ell.

"Got me ups and downs. We'll leave ye bags 'ere with a porter, aye? Pick 'em up after lunch." It'd be easier t'carry when they were hoppin' on a train back to Oxfordshire. "I didn't bring me bike t'day so I 'ope ye don't mind walkin'."

It were one thing t'let 'er swear but mum would be madder than a Welsh hatter if she knew he'd let Angie on 'is "muggle contraption." An' knowing his luck, they'd get into a fuckin' accident if he even tried. Roger offered a holding hand, jerking his head at the wall.

"Aight. C'mon on then lass. Ice-cream an' crisps? None've that proper nosh for ye today..." he pulled her in closer, nodding at the bloke who'd come t'store their trunks. "Pretty li'l lass like ye needs a treat."

'Cause it didn't matter who ye were; wizard or squib o'even muggle. Weren't nuffin' like spoiling yer kid sister silly.

"I'm all good with walking," Angie replied, "It'll be good exercise after being cooped up in the castle with all the snow. I haven't even had a good Quidditch practice in a really long time. And we've been getting crushed in all of our matches." She said with a scowl.

She took the offered hand and smiled at the promise of ice cream and crisps, "You know me so well!" She chuckled, a hand on her heart as if she'd been thoroughly touched by compliment he'd given her.

Well, of course she loved being complimented, it wasn't like the boys in her year were going around and throwing compliments at people.

Actually, the ones with girlfriends were. But Angie was happily single, and would stay that way in the foreseeable future because of her commitment to the team.

"Wait! Roger! Did I tell you I'm our house's Quidditch captain?" She asked excitedly, her eyes lighting up before she went to buzz on about her favorite pastime. "Our team's been rubbish this year; but nobody else was able to step up for the position! I get to be bossy all the time, and people have to listen to me!"

"Except my teammates don't like practicing in the snow, and I'm worried they won't do any practicing over holiday... I did threaten them, but as you've noticed; being short and blonde isn't helping my cause here." She pointed out.
