Physical Description:
Bright red hair that reaches halfway down her back is Rowena's most notable feature. It tends to be described with such terms as frizzy, curly, and billowing. She usually pulls it back into some form of a braid, though some strands always escape.

Beneath the hair, and the accompanying dash of freckles, Rowena takes strongly after her father in appearance, with high cheekbones, gray eyes, and generally pointed features. At this age, she's about five feet tall.

Her clothing tends toward more "medieval" dresses made in dark colors and of heavier fabrics. Proper, perhaps a bit archaic, but also relatively functional for wandering about outside.

Personality Description:
 Firey is a fitting term for Rowena, though that aspect of her personality is more evident to those close to her and to those her own age. Towards adults, or anyone she meets in a more formal setting, she displays the proper manners which have been drilled into her throughout her life. Because of this, she tends to be disdainful towards anyone who dismisses the value of intellectual pursuits, or of proper manners, even if she isn't the best at the latter.   

She has a strong moral sense regarding the way things should be, and actions or situations that hit on this usually lead her to be more outspoken. In such cases, she's perfectly willing to take action,  whether or not it involves personal risk. Unsurprisingly, this can lead her to be rather foolhardy at times. It also leads her, given her age, to view matters more in black or white rather than shades of gray. Rowena also has no shortage of energy, and enjoys activities that allow her to use her hands or involve outdoor activity.

Rowena was born right before midnight one evening during the Second Wizarding War, with her twin Sophia following not long afterwards, early the next morning. Their mother, Aisling, had been on leave when the Ministry fell, and, being a muggleborn witch, had attempted to avoid notice in the small apartment she and her husband Tarron shared. This state lasted until February of 1998, and in an incident which Rowena does not remember, but which still cast a pallor over their home, her mother was snatched and soon sent to Azkaban.

The end of the war saw her mother released, and the family soon moved to their current estate, also in London. And Rowena's family, alread a bit insular because of her father's family disowning him, proved to be even more so over the ensuing years.

Both girls were tutored in both wizarding, and, at their mother's insistence, in muggle subjects, with their mother also giving them some additional instruction. Most of their remaining time before they started Hogwarts was spent playing with each other, visiting their mother's family (and those of Tarron's relations who were still willing to interact with him), and spending time with their parents. Rowena has a particular tendecy to question her father about aspects of wizarding law, and either listened with rapt attention or fell asleep depending on the precise tangents he choose.

Unsurpringly, both girls were quite excited to attend Hogwarts, with Rowena being sorted into Gryffindor and Sophia into Ravenclaw. They've spent the months since focusing on both their studies and on developing new relationships outside of their bond with each other. Rowena's already looking forward to her second year, as she hopes to play Quidditch when given the opportunity.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Rowena is perfectly willing to stand up for others and take on personal risk, in ways ranging from brave to reckless, for the sake of moral matters.This is amplified by her idealized view of how things should be, and tendency to frame matters as more clearcut than they actually are.

With her father having been in Slytherin, and her mother in Ravenclaw, Rowena doesn't identify too strongly with House rivalries. However, she does tend towards an unconscious caution towards her Slytherin classmates, something largely prompted by tales of her father's school years and the reality that many of his housemates went on to become Death Eaters during the First War.

Strongly influenced by both the traditional nature of her father, and history and background of her muggleborn mother, Rowena is a girl possessed of both a strong sense of morality (and the nerve to act on it), and a sometimes-unused capacity for proprietry. She tends to be energetic, active, and occasionally overenthusiastic.

Rowena's kitten, Boudicca, was given to her for Christmas 2009. She's a British Shorthair/Kneazle mix, is incredibly curious, and enjoys playing with Rowena's hair far too much.
