Physical Description:
The first thing that seems to scream about Sybill is her eyes - wide-eyed doesn't quite cover it. Doe-eyed, bug eyed, nothing can accurate describe the huge blue orbs that seem to dwarf Sybill's face. It is probably one of the few qualities Bellatrix seems to like about her daughter - then again, the only things Bellatrix seems to adore about her daughter are purely physical ones.

Sybill's hair hangs in curtains, long, blonde and straight. This can be corrected with a night of damp hair curled against pillows, and if it's ever seen this way it means she was too lazy to let it air-dry straight. Sybill ensured this never happened at home, a sign of laziness often frowned upon in the Hatley household.

Sybill is short, but she recognizes that she can't change this, so she embraces her tinyness.

Sybill is skinny sort of girl, many glance at her and think that she could perhaps be whisked away with the slightest of breezes. A hardy cold could probably bring the pale girl to her knees, but looks are often times deceiving. Sybill likes to personify the saying "never judge a book by its cover."

While at Hogwarts, Sybill is sure to remain proper in the correct uniform. Granted, the dark fabric seems to wash her out, the Hufflepuff yellow brings a sort of brightness to her hair.

If off campus, a simple t-shirt and dark jeans are best. Sybill's scuffed up black converses are her go to shoes. Her hair enjoys the nice view as a knot on the top of her head. Makeup is never needed for her clear complexion, the girl luckily blessed with flawless skin. Not even a late night studying can darken the skin under her eyes - Sybill prefers the freeness of clean skin.

Many have said that Sybill has a curious likeness to an actress named Juno Temple, but she certainly doesn't see it.

Personality Description:
Quiet

Living in a home of 10 children, Sybill truly values the peace a quiet atmosphere can bring. Growing up, the small girl can often be seen in the corner, not saying a word, observing all. Sybill learned early on that a woman was best seen but not heard, and was chastised by her older brothers for speaking her mind. She now keeps her mouth shut, but her brain certainly isn't, waxing and waning and ticking and tocking as it watches the world about her.

Loyal

Sybill is fiercely loyal, to perhaps the wrong people. While her family seemed to discard her years ago, Sybill finds herself quick to dash to their sides in moments of distress. A strong sense of allegiance seems to be nestled in the small girl, almost blinding her to the harshness of her family about her. It almost begs the question: what would Sybill be like to someone who is actually kind to her?

Quick-minded

While she may be small, this girl is quick, her mind moving at a speed that will always three steps ahead of you. Even Sybill isn't quite sure how she manages to keep up with her mind, it ever processing and deciphering and validating the world about her. This makes her gifted with charms, the incantations rapid and flowing free with the slightest of efforts. One simply has to ask Sybill for her opinion, and they will be lost in her subsequent regurgitation. You were warned.

Forgotten

When the Hatleys realized that Sybill wasn't quite cookie cutter as the rest of the children, she pushed aside, forgotten to raise the more "gifted" members of the family. Sybill has since become comfortably numb to the notion of being placed in the back, far from the adoring words of her parents. Her Sorting into the Hufflepuff house sealed her fate, holidays and breaks now a period of loneliness for the doe-eyed girl.

History:
Born on a bright May Day, Sybill Narcissa Hatley arrived with barely a cry. Bellstrix Hatley was delighted to have another blonde haired, blue eyed child that seemed to personify the very ideal that was Pureblood. Aldis Hatley was positive the quiet child would fall into step behind her 6 older siblings, ambitious and sure to make the Hatley name as prestigious as the Malfoys and Blacks.

The Hatley family is fairly new, a strange offshoot of a branch on the Malfoy family, flaring out of a union between the Malfoys and Greengrass families.  Whenever questioned on the actual ties to the Malfoy family, Aldis would always mutter a response, words such as “second cousins” and “thrice removed” the only clear things heard. The connection, surprisingly, actually comes from Bellatrix’s side, one of the things that drew Aldis to her. This blood line, however diluted, is a point of pride for the Hatley family, and they are often quick to point out the powerful ties that they seem to possess. Whether those ties actually exist is another story.

The Hatley family reside in the quaint suburbs of Dundalk, Ireland, surprisingly out of touch with the magical world. The family tries to stay to themselves, interacting only with other pure folk, preferring the isolation of their home to the soils of muggle-types. When a Hatley child left for Hogwarts, they were always sorted into Slytherin, and always the first to turn a nose up at Muggle born.

At least, until Sybill went.

The look of shock upon her older siblings faces didn't quite register with the small girl, the blonde child quite happy to hop off the stool and settle upon the cold bench next to her fellow Hufflepuffs. To be honest, Sybill felt quite proud to break the norm, for once creating a ripple in her family rather then quietly falling into step behind them. That first year was fantastic for Sybill, quick to find her perchance for charms, and quite happy to actually be noticed by others rather then forgotten in the shadows.

Home for the summer was particularly cold that year, her parent barely saying a word to the girl, let alone acknowledging her presence.

A normal pattern soon emerged, Sybill's life full of sunshine during the school year, darkness during holiday. When at home, Sybill drew back, quick to help when she perceived it was needed, learning that quietness was valued much higher then a whispered opinion. Despite the harshness, Sybill leapt to the aide of her siblings during the school year, especially the younger ones. A strange sort of allegiance settled into her soul, the idea that in the end, all one simply had was the family about them. Her family, although they didn't truly appreciate her, was all Sybill had.

Sybill now enters her 6th year, still a small sort of girl, sticking to the corners that she now knows so well.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Sybill would probably make Helga Hufflepuff proud, loyal to a fault and patiently kind. Sybill is steadfast, willing to weather all kinds of unpleasantries to remain by someone's side. She is hard to knock down, a shield to protect those who she deems too weak to protect themselves. Patience may be something that seemed to skip generations in the Hatley family, but Sybill certainly possesses a far bit of it.

Writing Sample:
Sybill thought she was doing incredibly well. Her composed, half smile remained steadfast upon her face as her younger brother descended off the stage. Briefly, on the ride over, she had thought that perhaps Xavier would be different, an outlier like herself. Clearly she was wrong, watching the small blonde boy settle amongst her fellow brothers and sisters across the Great Hall.

Sybill's keen ears did not miss the mutterings about her, years of practice making it effortless.

"Another Hatley going to Slytherin."

"That lot always ends up there."

"Not all of them. Sybill's sweet. She's completely different then the rest of them."

Sybill glanced about the table, a soft smile of appreciation now fully forming as she looked at her fellow Hufflepuffs. An old feeling stirred, deep in her core, something that had retreated when she stepped off the big red Hogwarts Express at the end of last term. It was a strange warmth, a heat that would have certainly faltered in the cold dusty corners of her house back in Ireland.

But Hogwarts seemed to simply foster the small flare, coaxing into a soft blaze, a warmth that just radiated from Sybill as she glided through the old corridors. Hogwarts was Sybill's domain. It was the one place she didn't need to be a Hatley.

"Well, you do know about badgers, right Sybill?" An elbow jarred Sybill out of her reprieve, causing the small girl to look at the tall 7th year boy next to her.

"Mmhm," Sybill hummed quietly, brightening as the feast appeared before her. "They tend to eat snakes for breakfast."

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Sybill is a quiet shadow, this seemingly bright girl comfortable with the anonymity of the background. It probably has something to do with being one of 10, but it is more likely due to the actions of her Pureblood parents. They promptly "disowned" Sybill when she was sorted into Hufflepuff, not Slytherin like her fellow, brothers and sisters. It was probably best - this quirky, kind girl would have certainly wilted in the cold dungeons that house Slytherin's best. Sybill is a clever girl, quickly developing a knack for charms, but she's more prone to remain quiet then join the rambunctious musings of her fellow students.
