Physical Description:
Forest is average height with brown hair and brown eyes.  He often has wind-swept hair and dirt under his nails, but otherwise his appearance is meticulous.

Forest prefers wizarding robes to Muggle attire, and tends to wear high-quality fabrics in muted colors.  Black, grey and dark green most often.  Thanks to his close relationship with his grandfather, his shoulders and spine are always straight.  He's a Montgomery, and should look the part.

Personality Description:
Forest is something of a loner.  He doesn't have many friends, but that is not because he isn't friendly.  He doesn't always 'understand' people, but that doesn't particularly bother him.  In a group setting, Forest is more content to sit back and listen rather than participate.  He isn't wild or reckless, as his position as next Head of the Montgomery Family weighs heavily on his mind.  He wants to bring the family back to prominence and that means conducting himself with decorum.

In some ways, Forest is a bit of a stick in the mud.

History:
Forest is the first-born son of the first-born son of the first-born son... back and back for generations.  He will, one day, become the Head of his family.  While his father always sort of shunned his responsibilities and duties to the family, Forest takes them very seriously.  He is very much the son his grandfather never had.

Forest's one true enjoyment is being outside.  He cannot stand to be cooped up inside, regardless of the weather.  He wants to feel the fresh air and see the sky.  During his last few years at Hogwarts he was plagued with worry about what he would do for his career.  Working underground at the Ministry - while a thoroughly respectable establishment - sounded like torture.  Likewise, a herbalist or shopkeeper didn't sound prestigious enough for the sort of society contacts he wanted to bring the family name back to.

Eventually he took a job as an assistant in a Potions shop and put his skill to use.  Not exactly a 'people person' Forest was best at stocking shelves and dealing with suppliers.  His talent at recognizing quality, healthy flora, and his desire to be out of doors eventually led to him considering becoming a supplier himself.  After quite a bit of thought, he finally took the plunge.

Forest has three younger siblings who he does not exactly understand, but gets along with for the most part.  His parents are happily married and his relationship with them is healthy.  Occasionally his attitude towards his father is strained, as Gavin Montgomery never wanted the responsibility of being Head of the family.  He did little-to-nothing to maintain family contacts and prevalence, and has made rulings and decisions that may alter the Montgomerys respectability in the Wizarding world.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
Forest is a supplier of Potion Ingredients.  Namely he deals with flora, and prefers to work with shops rather than individual brewers - although he's not picky.

Travel and 'roughing it' are common elements of Forest's trade.  He spends a good deal of time camping in forests and fields away from home to ensure he has fresh, quality products for sale.  He has a particular interest with the rare and unusual - and is not opposed to procuring a specimen that may be restricted by the Ministry of Magic.
(Hopefully though, he has well concealed these items when it's time to return home.)

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Forests two favorite classes at Hogwarts were Herbology, and Potions.  He's always had a knack for working with plants, understanding how to handle and care for them with very little instruction, with an unending thirst for learning more about them.  Herbology always felt more like a way of life to Forest rather than a class or a skill.  It just 'was'.

Likewise, Potions was an enjoyment as he took pleasure in preparing ingredients and following directions closely.  He loved learning how different items interacted in different ways.  Unfortunately, while Forest would have considered Potions a suitable career path, he did not have the skills needed to make it his living.

But his passion with flora and his knowledge of potions made him ideal for working with the supplying side of the business.  His desire to be outside with nature means that he doesn't miss the city when he's out on an expedition, and his desire for excellence means he strives to supply only the best available.

Writing Sample:
Forest smiled as he set his leather bag down. From inside his satchel, Forest withdrew a delicate white cloth which he spread over the table his client had cleared for him. The white backdrop would make it easier to see any flaws in the samples he had brought, and it would catch any bits of pollen or stems that might break off during examination – preventing him from leaving a mess behind.

“I think you’ll be quite happy with the selection,” he said, a bit of pride leeching through his voice. Several carefully rolled tubes of parchment were placed on the cloth first, followed by a number of glass jars. “I found a nice crop of staghorn. The starthistle was more difficult, but I have some samples of those as well.” Forest withdrew a pair of gloves, holding them out towards his client with a questioning expression. “If you’d like to inspect the samples?” He had a second pair of gloves for himself, and with a slight flourish he was almost proud of, Forest unrolled the first tube of parchment. “This is the pragweed. Still quite fresh, and it should hold up well for a number of weeks. I have five samples of those. I know you only requested two, but I thought I’d let you select which two you like best. And here is the staghorn, the caligly root, rosedale petals, starthisle…” he indicated each plant in their various container as he listed them. “The mudglump – nasty stuff. I have a copper bowl if you’d like to inspect it as well, although you might want to open a window,” he added with a grin.

He fell silent, letting his client look over the various items. After a moment or two, Forest opened his mouth. He hesitated, and then spoke up. “I have a few other items as well,” he said, tapping a finger against the open lip of his bag absently. “I… I know you didn’t request any of them, and if you’d like to stick with just the items on your list, I certainly understand.”

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Forest is very interested in bringing the Montgomery name back to the level of respectability he thinks it deserves.  However, like his father, spending his free time dressed up at fancy balls and charity events does not sound like a good time to him - nor is he interest in expressing the prejudices that many prominent families seem to expect.  He takes himself and his family very seriously, but does occasionally know how to kick back and have a good time.
