[Nov 27] But I Voted for a Basic Campfire!

on November 11, 2012, 02:20:35 PM

The Fire Crabs were situated in a series of caves that had been constructed in Hagrid's garden. There was a small wooden box nearby, which Georgiana pulled a thick notebook and a few quills from. The notebook was about half full of scribble observations, weather reports, and drawings of bizarrely-huge shoulderpads intermixed with colored sketches of various Fire Crab shell patterns.

"Looks like the Chin's been busy down there." She rapped her knuckles against a window that looked down into the caves. This sent several small crabs with sapphires set into their shells scurrying about, and one let out a small puff of smoke as it moved. Their quantity was soon written down in blue ink next to the date.

She switched quills, this time to one which left trails of red ink on the page. It dripped a little as she bent over another section of the caves.  "Being hot-headed again, Garrosh? Not tagging them until Hagrid gets here." A quick thrust of her tongue in the crab's direction. "Haven't forgotten your behavior last time."

"You growin' fond of thosse windows?" Hagrid 's voice growled from the bushes as the half-giant gently lumbered into the clearing behind the Slytherin girl, "They gettin' territorial yet?" he nodded at the girl and then moved over to the caes before he rapped his heavy knuckles against the glass.

He looked down at the girl's notes before he craned his neck around to try and see what the crabs are up to, tinged with curiosity, "They haven't blown any new holes down their, have they?"

Georgiana shifted away from the windows as Hagrid appeared, and winced slightly as he thumped on the glass. That always riled them up when she did it, but then the crabs seemed to have an odd sort of fondness for the Professor. He hadn't wound up in the hospital hut from them yet.

"No big holes, Professor."  Just then there was the sound of fire billowing out from below them, and then the sound of something cracking. "But they're feisty today, makes them fun to tag." She risked a gentle tap on the glass, only to see another, smaller, spurt of fire appear in response to it.

"Thinking they're getting on each others' nerves again. It's why I waited for you, don't need Tappy riding my ass about more burns." It was, as Gigi had realized that year, much easier to safely handle one Fire Crab than to do so with a dozen of the creatures.
