(Teagan) on November 06, 2012, 03:56:11 PM Alice sat on a couch in the commonroom, struggling to read a text book. this whole blind thing was getting old. Fast. Is that an E? A D? She had the book up to her nose, looking at it closer, squinting. She was tired. It was a long day, and now, she couldn't even do her favorite activity; reading. Alice put down the book, and started to cry, her little shoulders bobbing up and down, as tears collided with the pages of her History of Magic book. "I just, just," She couldn't finish her sentence, sobbing into her hands. Skip to next post Re: [Dec. 22] I can't even read! (Teagan) Reply #1 on November 06, 2012, 04:31:42 PM Teagan arrived in the common room from the library, where she had spent her day studying Ancient Runes. She entered humming an old Irish tune, then stopped dead, seeing poor Alice sobbing. "Oh! Alice, you okay?" she asked, rushing towards the girl. Teagan felt a lot of affection for little Alice, as she was such a kind-hearted little girl. Kneeling by her, Teagan took a clean handkerchief from her pocket (one she had embroidered with little pink flowers) and delicately wiped Alice's tears. Gently holding Alice's hand in hers, she waited for the young Hufflepuff to talk, determined to be there to listen and do everything she could to cheer her up. She looked up at the blurry face, but didn't know who it was. She thought it was Teagan. But she couldn't be sure. "Teagan, is that you? She said, looking up at the face. She couldn't tell if it was. "Look, if you're not Teagan, thanks still." Her bottom lip started to quiver.Alice looked back at the book, the words still not clear. This sent her over the edge, sobbing once again. "It's Teagan," she said softly, putting a comforting arm around the girl. "You'll be getting your glasses in no time, sweetie. Just a few days, right?" Teagan said, trying to encourage Alice. She glanced at the book in her hand: History of Magic. Teagan smiled, having an idea. "Do you have to read this for homework? Would you like me to read it for you a little?" she asked, more than happy to help out. "Here, let me wipe those new tears," she said, gently dabbing Alice's moist face again with her handkerchief. "I know, Mom says it's only two more days, and she'll get them to me. But I just, I don't want to wait. People have been taking advantage of my blindness, Teagan. Some kid spun me around and told me I was on the 5th floor. I was on the 3rd! And someone stole my book from me, and I'm pretty sure someone put this sign on my back."She pulled out a piece of paper that said, "Hey! I'm blind!" Alice looked up at Teagan. "What does it say?" She asked. Alice nodded at the question about History of Magic. "Yeah, I've been trying to read it for hours. Hours! And it's my favorite subject, and I can't even read it!" She said. She took the piece of paper that Alice had removed from her back and frowned. "Do you really want to know..?" Teagan asked hesitantly. "It doesn't really matter.." She crumpled the paper angrily and threw into a garbage can near her. Placing her hands in Alice, she said: "I have an idea. I can be like your personal bodyguard until you get your glasses back. I'm sure my Professors won't mind since I'm pretty ahead in all my classes." Eager to help her young friend, Teagan smiled at her idea. "I'll make sure nobody picks on you or gives you a hard time. Does that sound okay?" She then plopped herself on the couch beside Alice and, taking the History of Magic textbook, placed that on her lap. "This is one of my favorite subjects too. Ready? I'll read you this chapter your on." Skip to next post Re: [Nov. 22] I can't even read! (Teagan) Reply #6 on November 11, 2012, 04:05:41 PM "I have an idea. Teagan sat down next to Alice, and took her book. Alice rested her head on Teagan's shoulder, and nodded, when Teagan said that she'd read to her. Alice was already feeling better with Teagan. Somehow, she always did. Alice listened, feeling the tears begin to dry, and her eyes begin to droop. It was a long day, and Alice was feeling really sleepy. She readjusted her head on Teagan's shoulder, and then started to close her eyes. Skip to next post Re: [Nov. 22] I can't even read! (Teagan) Reply #7 on November 13, 2012, 03:35:48 PM Teagan smiled happily as she felt Alice rest her head on her shoulder. She paused from her reading a moment, and said: "You'll see. I'll be here for you until you get your glasses. Time will go by so fast, you'll hardly believe it!" She hugged Alice, really glad that she was able to cheer her up. Teagan continued reading some more, but as time went by, she felt Alice's head becoming more and more heavy on her shoulder. It was already eleven thirty in the evening. Closing the textbook, she whispered: "You asleep?" No answer. Glancing at Alice, Teagan saw that the girl was sleeping soundly. Yawning, she leaned back against the sofa and closed her eyes as well. It only took a few minutes and Teagan was fast asleep too, her head leaning gently on Alice's. Skip to next post
