Wand: Alder, Dragon Heartstring, 11 inches or 11.1 according to Gloria
Alder is an unyielding wood. It's unique amongst wand woods in that others usually seek out perfect matches in personality Alder looks for marked differences if not an entire opposite nature. Thus Alder works best for those not completely stubborn or obstinate but the helpful, considerate and most probably likable, where Alder becomes a magnificently loyal help-mate. Gloria is such a kind of personality an Alder wand would seek. Alder also helps with the learning of nonverbal magic
Magically, the wand is attuned to more flashy spells and learns quickly, given the core of dragon heartstring. The core also bonds quickly with the owner, combined with the wood making a very loyal wand to its original owner, Gloria, less likely to sway allegiance. However, the drawbacks of heartstring manifest with more frequent accidents, such as when Gloria is in an off mood; and this core is the easiest to turn to the Dark Arts if its master does, though Gloria is never going to let that happen.
Wood, core and pliability predict the wand is strong for both offensive and defensive magic, especially counter spells, along with Transfiguration. These are only the areas it shines the most as Gloria is generally good to most types of magic though she's picky about which spells keep her interest, though being able to quickly and accurately cast a counter curse has helped her out on more than one occasion.

You could say she's still in a transitional period of growing up. When she was little she had a bit more baby fat that went away, making her slender as she got taller. This is most noticeable in her face, as she had cubby cheeks her first few years at Hogwarts. Now her face is a bit more angular, her chin and jawline form a point compared to when she was younger.
It's very easy for Gloria to smile and when she does she shows a lot of teeth. Her wide grin makes her mouth look bigger than what it really is. She has richly colored brown hair with the suggestion of a copper tint that effortlessly looks silky. Gloria usually keeps her hair long, past her shoulders. As she became a teenager she stopped putting effort into keeping it straight, most mornings brushing the bed-head into a tangle free but still mussy hairstyle. If Gloria thinks she looks too formal in a casual situation she will rough it up further.
Other features on her face include her sparkling blue eyes never dulled from their glimmer of mischief; a nose with just the right shape if wide at the nostrils; freckles that come and go depending on how much sun she gets; and just a kiss of rose color to her cheeks. This is complimented with a voice that's sunny and sweet.
While Gloria can be rough and tough and even aggressive, she dresses rather girly. More than likely out of uniform you'll see her in another dress or skirt, usually with stockings, tights, or pantyhose depending on what level of maturation she decides to exhibit. She does own some kick-around jeans and shirts but usually saves those for laborious work outdoors or events away from school. She owns lot of clothes but isn't interested in matching fashions or following trends. Her favorite shoes are flats, anything thin enough to still let her feel the ground under her feet.
On special occasions, with the right level of makeup and hairdressing Gloria looks stunning, although this usually takes some convincing from friends or family. She never minds undermining a more dressed up appearance, letting natural beauty shine through with minimal makeup and, typically, mussy hair. She fancies homemade or handcrafted jewelry, typically with bright colors and beads, rather than precious stones and metals. While still being very much the girly girl she never appears overly effeminate.
Personality Description: Most consistently, Gloria exhibits high levels of enthusiasm and almost maniac energy, sometimes infectious amongst her friends. She is always looking to try something new, perhaps the reason she took on a bevy of elective classes and numerous student clubs while not being the most academic or studious. She never worries about schoolwork, even if she is doing lackluster in a class. She tends to narrow in on only the things that interest her, not caring what she neglects on the side. It's quite rare to see her upset over failure; either she knows what to do differently next time or she finds ways of turning an observed weakness into a strength.
Half the reason for her flip-flopping grades comes from whatever she decides to occupy herself with in her spare time. Gloria has an adventurous spirit and is always looking to do something. To be cooped up with nothing but classes, desks, and libraries all day would be a nightmare. She can be impulsive when jumping both feet into a venture, many times a 'look before you leap' scenario when she plunges into she has no clue about.
There's something of an inherent contradiction to her moods. Amongst friends she's self-sacrificing to their needs whenever they are in trouble, though the trouble might be of her own design for whatever scheme she roped them into doing. Of these ventures, half the time she's looking to do good deeds like volunteering to wash up graffiti or clear rubbish on the grounds, while the other half may not be as honorable such as sneaking somewhere out of bounds or pranking the Slytherin laundry with lurid colored dye. Most of the time she remains dutiful and altruistic when helping out anyone facing a rough patch, commonly lending an ear, carrying books and things, or brightening up someone's day with a wacky spell or gift.
Gloria is highly passionate towards whatever banner she raises each week and will step up onto her soapbox in the face of perceived corruption, injustice, and just plain wrong-doing while not recognizing how hypocritical she is towards her enemies in terms of wrong-doing in the name of justice (or more accurately, vengeance). "It's for the greater good!" she would justify towards a professor when caught passing off a boil causing brew as Boil-Cure Potion to the Ravenclaws that made fun of her best friend in class yesterday.
Gloria has as resolute of morals one can have at fourteen, though when angered at somebody she gets narrow minded in contrast to her open minded enthusiasm towards the richness of life. Sometimes her complaints towards others are completely one sided, such as declaring a friend a foe because they knocked into someone while running to class and didn't stop to help them pick up their books, then after a few days forgiving them after they pass her the salt at dinner. She never keeps enemies for long, or rather doesn't nurse a grudge for too long, at some point begrudgingly tolerating her opponent's opposing ways if not accepting them.
Overall Gloria is usually cheerful and upbeat. Rarely when she does get serious she gets deadly serious, dropping all expressions to a blank if slightly peeved state and her voice looses charm. This is her at her most aggressive, narrowing her focus to only the issue like an angry dog keeping its teeth sunk into a bite.
But Gloria does not deal in absolutes as often as she appears. Between outbreaks of heroic effort she's sunny and bright towards discovering new things about magic and life at Hogwarts. If only she had the followthrough on her initial enthusiasm she'd be a thoroughly model and decent student instead of one that is at times exasperating for the castle staff. But for all of her faults, Gloria is steadfastly adamant that she is not an evil or mean person.
There's a certain reason for that.
History: Gloria was born one month into a new year to Clarence and Evangeline Gibbon. The Gibbons were a mostly magically based family, at Gloria's generation swung more towards the diluted blood side given her mother's muggle ancestry. Gloria is the oldest of at least two siblings.
Gloria has an uncle she's never met as she was only two when he was killed. He's the black sheep of the family no one talks about about because he was a Death Eater. Gibbon was part of the the attack on Hogwarts during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower in 1997. He cast the Dark Mark over the grounds before he was felled by a Killing Curse in the scuffle.
http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/GibbonAs such, Gloria doesn't like it when that member of her family tree comes up in conversation, being a common point to set her off on arguing how she is not a bad person.
Minus the tarnishing to the name, the Gibbons are rather kindly and friendly people, not rich but financially secure enough to never fret over the future. As if to make up for the fact that there was a Death Eater in the family they are very generous and helpful in their community, never turning down a need of their assistance. This attitude shapes why Gloria strives to be a good person even if she goes overboard. She is also comfortable working without magic as her family was strict about her not touching a wand until she was of schooling age.
Altogether Gloria had a happy childhood, suited to the whimsy of life in magical Britain. During family excursions to Hogsmeade or the countryside she would venture off to discover odd creatures and plants. There's usually a big summer trip the family plans to a foreign country, giving her a broad experience into international magical culture.
Coming to Hogwarts led to Gloria's growing mischievous streak, as away from home she started to experiment with what freedoms there were available to get away with at a boarding school. Of course, she was destined for Gryffindor in her 2006 sorting. As she grew older Gloria became less "childish:" not really mature, but less of a prim and proper little girl, leading to her habits of letting her hair stay messy most days.
Gloria is never seen to remain still for any length of time at the castle, even fidgeting in classes. She's an above average pupil, bright in some aspects and a bit behind every once in a while. She's been in every student club at least once, trying it out once and leaving whenever she was bored but sometimes returning after a few weeks.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Gloria is cut from the red and gold cloth of Gryffindor, being very passionate and adventurous. Few things, if anything, scare her. Like many Gryffindors before her she's not above the occasional prank or bending the rules to act to the spirit of them rather than the letter but when a friend needs her she is loyally there for them.
Writing Sample: In the middle of study hall, most were at work scribbling notes for a potion assignment. Gloria Gibbon had her own textbook open, notes, writing quill and a list of ingredients she was supposed to be referencing but she was more preoccupied with a little vial of potion she had with her.
The potion? Nail-polish.
Making small strokes with her brush, Gloria painted the nails of her left hand, dabbing the excess off on a wad of tissues sitting in her open book, the nail-polish dangerously soaking down the tissues to threaten smearing in her book.
Across the table her study partner noticed what she was doing. "Brown?" she asked with some disbelief.
Gloria finished on her pinky, waving her fingers to help the polish dry. "I wanted something that wouldn't show the dirt after Herbology."
"Most people wear gloves."
"I have gloves. They're my favorites, made out of authentic Horntail dragonhide leather. Even if they have gotten some holes in them, I don't want to buy a new pair."
"Miss Gibbon," spoke the teacher overseeing the study hall behind her. "Staying on task I hope?"
"Of course, Professor," Gloria replied, "just talking about Herbology. It's so important to grow your herbs and plants to a state of good health because that can influence the quality of your potion. That requires hard work, effort, maybe a bit of love along with plenty of soil water and nutrients for the plant. Because there is a problem if the Bubotubers you harvest for pus aren't big enough, that suggests a immature bubotuber so its pus might not effectively remove boils when used in a…"
"That's enough, Miss Gibbon," the professor sighed. "Good to see you are thinking just stay on task."
As the professor walked away Gloria had a sneaky little smile on her face that made her study partner roll her eyes.
Sum up your character in one paragraph: Gloria Gibbon is a Fourth Year Gryffindor, as sunny and adventurous as you may find in the house while being rather girly in fashion and being an unkempt beauty. The hero of her own story, most of the time you'll find her helping a friend or stranger in need, though paradoxically her passions can keep her narrow minded towards foes or wrong doers. Enthusiastic about trying new things, if she doesn't have discovery or exploration or charity catching her interest she'll get into good natured trouble herself.
