Liadan had procured the cooperation of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement the previous week. The pieces were falling into place quite nicely for her charity gala for St. Mungo's. She was quite excited about the event, glad it seemed to be panning out this time. (She had wanted to plan one for Halloween but simply hadn't the time to get it all together.)

She had quickly realized if there was to be a duel, she would need some medical staff on hand in case things went awry. She had sent an owl to the Fourth Floor of St. Mungo's- and had been put in touch with Moira Randall as a result. Liadan recognized the last name, though could not recall making the acquaintance of a Randall named Moira. At any rate, she was prepared to be on her behavior and play nice for the sake of her event. Surely this Moira wouldn't be as disagreeable as the other Randall Liadan was familiar with- Nicola.

Liadan had planned to meet the woman on Monday morning at St. Mungo's. She wanted a chance to talk to a few other witches and wizards employed there, to give out a few personal invitations and gain their support.

"I'm looking for a Miss Randall," Liadan said to a young witch in Mungo's robes who walked by. The young girl looked a little startled at having been stopped, but told Liadan she could fetch Miss Randall if she wanted to have a seat. Liadan nodded and carefully perched in one of the waiting chairs. Hopefully they could conduct this little meeting in a more comfortable place than a hospital lobby.

Late in the previous week Moira had been told to expect a woman by the name of Liadán Ó Móráin on Monday morning.  The last name had sounded a bit familiar, but she couldn't place it exactly.  She was aware that Miss Ó Móráin was planning the charity event and had discovered that she was from a rather well known and traditional pureblood family.  That had led her to believe that she had probably heard about the family from her father on one of the rare occasions she had been able to convince him to talk about his past and his side of her family tree.

There was a part of her that couldn't help by be a little nervous about meeting this woman.  A lot of it, of course, was based on the fact that she had been sheltered as much as possible from traditional society.  Her mother, despite being a pureblood as well, was from an extremely poor family that had always been sympathetic to Muggleborn witches and wizards.  It was obvious that her mother had never been accepted by the majority of her father's family.

She had been just finishing with a patient when another mediwitch told her a woman was waiting for her in the lobby.  Excusing herself, Moira decided it best not to keep the other woman waiting.  After all, she was doing something that would benefit St. Mungo's and that was certainly a cause near and dear to Moira's heart.  She loved her work, and after nearly a month had settled and developed a good relationship with the majority of their long term patients.

"Excuse me, are you Miss Ó Móráin?" she asked the blonde woman dressed in rather traditional wizarding clothing.

She was very glad to be in uniform.  Again, perhaps it was a bit of ignorance based on a lack of exposure to this part of her heritage, but she highly doubted this woman would be impressed by Moira's more Muggle influenced wardrobe.  Based on this dress alone, Moira couldn't help but wonder if the petite blonde even know what pants were.

"I'm Moira Randall," she said, extending her hand.  "It's a pleasure to meet you.  When I heard about the charity event I thought it was a wonderful idea and I'm pleased to help in anyway I can.  Perhaps we could chat somewhere a bit more private?  There's a staff break room just around the corner."

Liadan took the hand which was extended, giving it a very gentle shake before releasing. "Indeed I am. It is likewise a pleasure, Miss Randall." She was glad to hear the mediwitch was interested in offering her help. Liadan was going to need the full cooperation of St. Mungo's to make this charity gala a success. Even the less important employees mattered.

"That would be preferable. Not that I intend to keep anything secret from the Mungo's staff, but it would be more comfortable." Liadan waited on Moira to lead the way, following two steps behind. Once they had reached the staff room, Liadan perched carefully on the end of a chair, crossing her ankles and folding her primly in her lap.

Liadan tilted her head at Moira, offering a slight smile. "I have been wanting to organize a charity event for quite some time. Knowing that Mungo's is a worthy cause, it only made sense to choose this establishment as the primary benefactor. Myself and Miss Dolly St. James are working together to make it happen. I've gotten the cooperation of individuals from all over the wizarding world to ensure this event is going to be a complete success!" Liadan was obviously excited about where she was in the planning of the gala.

"I'm interested to hear what the Mungo's staff thinks of the event, and to get an insider's input on what I've organized so far. But before we get to business, Miss Randall, why don't you tell me more about yourself? What exactly is your job here at St. Mungo's?"

So far things were going well, and her nerves eased as she led the way into the break room and Liadán settled into one of the chairs.  Everything about this woman was just simply so proper.  Given the nature of her job, Moira had quickly learned that in order to save a life one sometimes had to do things that the prim and proper might frown upon.  Working in a hospital one encountered all manner of things that would make a weak stomach churn.

Listening to the plans that had been made already, Moira smiled at the other woman's excitement.  It sounded like it would be quite the evening.  The entire Wizarding community would ultimately benefit as St. Mungo's was an important facility.  They work that they did there meant so much to so many.

"It sounds like it will be an event on simply can not miss," she said. heading to the counter across from the table to fill her coffee mug.  "Can I get you a cup of tea or coffee?"

Moira's shift had not really started the long ago.  She had been focused on seeing to her patients before the scheduled meeting and she had managed to make her rounds before she was called away.  Caffeine had really been the furthest thing from her mind.

"I'm interested to hear what the Mungo's staff thinks of the event, and to get an insider's input on what I've organized so far. But before we get to business, Miss Randall, why don't you tell me more about yourself? What exactly is your job here at St. Mungo's?"

"Well," began Moira as she fixed a mug Liadán, "I serve as a mediwitch for the Spell Damage floor.  I was previously apart of the Creature Injuries team, but I took a bit of time off due to personal reasons.  When I returned my previous experience during my training in America with patients needing care that was more long term in nature helped me fit into the position on this floor."

Crossing the short distance to the table, she set a mug in front of Liadán before taking the seat across from the other woman.  "A bit of time off" was stretching it, that was certain.  She had been gone for nearly a year.  But, she was good at what she did and Liadán question was only in regards to her professional life.

"I've been a part of the Wizarding medical community since graduating Hogwarts," she said.  "I've seen the good work we can do in a place like St. Mungo's...the people we help and how it effects them and their families.  Your excitement in regards to this event is very evident, which is very refreshing to see."

Note: Checked with Thea before having Moira fix Lia a drink

Liadan did not care for coffee or tea, but thought it rude to refuse if offered. Especially since Liadan was working hard to make friends and not enemies. She needed the St. Mungo's staff on her side for this event. "Tea, please," she said, watching as the mediwitch set about getting her a cup.

"What exactly does a mediwitch do?" Liadan asked. "I've met a few healers in my day... Are the jobs synonymous? Or is it simply ranking?" She was unsure the difference. In her mind all Mungo's employees likely performed the same duties.

She was glad that Moira could see her excitement... Happier that Moira seemed to not want to address any ulterior motives that Liadan had. "Mungo's is an important part of our community. We haven't many hospitals available. The more funding you have, the better things the institution can do for the wizarding world."

"Our society seems to agree. I've cooperation for the event from all over the wizarding world. Socialites, celebrities, ministry workers, Mungo's itself. I am hoping to appeal to the better nature of the Quidditch teams as well- to make an appearance if nothing else. The grander the event, the more galleons we can gather for the Mungo's coffer."

"I am hoping to gather a couple of employees in the case of medical emergency. With so many people it could be possible... And, if you don't mind keeping this confidential, I have spoken to the DMLE to see if I can get the aurors to duel for charity. I'm sure that could get nasty quick enough. Do you suppose someone from your floor would be willing? Of course they would be in attendance, but having a professional on hand would make me feel better about things."

"It is a bit like ranking, I suppose," Moira told her.  "The Mediwitches and wizards are sort of support for the healers.  We tend to be the ones who see a patient first and make sure immediate needs are seen to and carry out some of the treatments.  We also tend to be the ones kept on hand at Quidditch matches and other such events to see to any emergencies that might arise."

The whole system likely made more sense to those on the inside then it did to someone outside the medical community.  Moira was capable of assessing and healing most patients, but her job focused mostly on seeing to initial and long term comfort and care.  The healers were the ones who did most of the work prescribing a treatment for a patient.  Being more of a people oriented person, her position allowed her slightly more one-on-one time with her patients.

It sounded like the woman sitting across from her had a great handle on the event.  It would certainly draw the attention of the Wizarding community, and, she was right, the grander the event the more money would be raised.  She had been to a few charity events when she was still with Marcus, so she was aware of how these things worked.  The events that Liadán was proposing those had to potential to make things a bit more interesting.

"I'd be happy to assist," she offered.  "During my training I spent a great deal of time working with several members of the US equivalent of our DMLE.  There were a few of their Aurors who seemed to end up in the hospital with a spell related injury every couple of days.  I think I've seen just anything one can imagine."

Liadan nodded at Moira's explanation. It made sense to her, and was more or less what she had expected to hear. She was certainly glad she had never tried to get into the medical community. She could not imagine being so responsible and having to clean up after so many strangers. It was definitely an unbecoming form of employment for a witch such as herself.

"I am quite glad that you are willing to assist!" Liadan said with a bright smile. "It makes me glad to know that you have experience in the area of healing those from duels. If you have any colleagues who would like to be on hand to aid in any emergency healing, they would also be quite welcome. I will be sure that you are paid well for your aid. Even if your particular set of skills are not needed throughout the evening."

Liadan stood up from her seat, and held out a hand to Moira. "I do apologize for my hasty departure, Miss Randall, but I am working quite hard to finish organizing everything. If you think of any other questions, please feel free to send me an owl. I will be in touch again before the event to make you more aware of the schedule for the evening and to be sure that you have everything you would need for the evening."

With a curt nod, Liadan excused herself from the room and left the hospital. There was so much to do to get ready! And so little time to get everything finished!
