Parchment and test-grade quills will be provided. Part Two is the practical portion of the examination. Students are expected to individually brew a potion which has been previously covered in class. Students will not be allowed to use their potions books during any portion of the exam. Harry Potter Wiki: Valerian, Lethe River Water, Standard Ingredient, Mistletoe berry.TO COMPLETE THIS EXAM[3]:1. Copy the code below. Fill in your character's information, and fill out Part One from the point of view and skill level of your character. The default answer for Part One is in white. The default answer exists to aid you in writing the exam. Replace or alter the default answers to reflect your character's competency in potions. You may leave it as it is if you wish. Default answers or similar descriptions of the same process will receive a satisfactory to high score for this portion of the exam.2. Post your exam sheet in this thread, accompanied by a (roleplayed) description of your character brewing the potion from Part Two. You can also include details of your character writing Part One if you'd like. Please describe your character's overall success. For example, if your character is precise, indicate that; if your character is clumsy or if the potion is off color, lacking a certain ingredient, or rushed, indicate that. You can describe how your character handles and processes ingredients, whether they time things right, and whether the potion looks how it is supposed to look. Minor variations will not receive failing marks; missteps will be considered individually.3. PM me with the grade you wish for your character to receive. If you do not, we will assume your character passed, unless it is obvious he or she did not (in other words, you have put effort into purposely failing your character; I will PM you to confirm if this is the case!). The professor must check your cauldron and collect your labeled sample before you clear your station.Alice took a deep breath, and smiled. Potions was easy. Follow the directions, and you'll do fine. That was the whole trick to it. Alice first, gathered her materials. She looked for berries that were roughly the same size, and valerian sprigs that seemed to have the same dimensions. She then brought them all to her arena, where she categorized them on when she'd use them. Alice then started to follow the steps of her procedure slowly, and thoroughly, taking her time. She made sure her pinches were equal, even measuring them with some of her measuring cups. She wanted everything to be perfect. This was brewing a potion! She could do this! Alice timed the waiting exactly, counting slowly, and keeping an eye on her watch. When waving her wand, Alice waved it in the same kind of swish each time. She stirred at the same speed, watching the steam rise. At the end, she smiled, and raised her hand. "Professor?" She said quietly, in order to not disturb the other students. "I've finished." The professor must check your cauldron and collect your labeled sample before you clear your station.Chaya set the test parchment to one side and laid out her ingredients and set up her cauldron. She carefully dripped two drops of Lethe River Water into the empty cauldron. She put the bottle down and capped it. She lit the flame beneath the cauldron, counted to twenty under her breath, and abruptly switched it off. Getting the timings right was always the hardest part. She dropped in two Valerian Sprigs and stirred clockwise three times, slow and deliberate, so she wouldn't miscount. She waved her wand and sat back in her seat to let the potion brew. This would be the most dangerous part, she knew. She'd have to keep herself from drifting off, somehow. It was the longest 95 minutes she could remember, a combination of nerves and boredom, nearly drifting off into the haze of sleep only to jolt awake in panic and check the clock. Somehow, though, she managed. She watched the last minute tick away on the clock, tracking the clock hands with her eyes, rolled her sleeves back up, and set about finishing her potion. She knew as soon as she put the pestle aside that she'd ground the Standard Ingredient and the berries a tad too fine, working out the pent up energy she'd collected waiting through crushing the mixture. She added five pinches of the mixture to her cauldron, stirred five times counter-clockwise and waved her wand. She raised her hand to indicate she'd finished. Her potion wasn't textbook perfect - it was a shade or two off color, and didn't smell quite right - but it was pretty close, and she was reasonably certain she'd passed, at the very least.
