Full Character Name: Walton Ernesto Dodd
Character Birthday & Age: January 2, 1992
City & Country of Birth: London, England
Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Muggleborn
House & Year: Gryffindor 7th Year
Wand: Walton's wand is 11 3/4 inches long. It is made of Ebony wood which is attributed to the success of luck charms and defensive magics. It has a pheonix feather core. The wood is springy with a bent shaft.
Physical Description: Walton definitely looks older than his almost-eighteen years- easily mistaken for a guy who is around the age of 20. Having always taken part in sports, and being active over the breaks when he is at home, he has a very athletic build. Walton has a brown skin tone. He knows that his birth-mother was of Filipino descent, but knows nothing about his biological father. Walt's hair is black and he wears it messy, because it's easiest. His eyes are dark brown, set under thick brows. Walton finds his uniform uncomfortable for the most part, but does his best to fit into school dress code. But as soon as it's down time, Walt prefers jeans and a comfortable t-shirt. And he'd rather be barefoot.
Personality Description: All around, Walt is just a nice guy. He really enjoys the company of others and values his friendships. He's incredibly loyal, and would do anything to help or protect them. Walt is not the sort to stand around and see his friends- or anyone else, for that matter- get pushed around. Walton can't tolerate bullying or seeing people get mistreated or picked on (especially ladies). He stands up for others, and won't think twice about telling someone to get lost.
As an only child, Walton has always wanted a little brother or sister. Because of this, he has taken a special interest in younger years. He likes to help his younger housemates out with homework or advice. He's a great role model and a good leader. He offers encouragement where it is needed, but doesn't spare the truth when it needs to be heard.
Walton has his faults, though. He has a tendency to be a bit lazy. He's a smart buy, but tends to coast more than he works hard. He rarely puts the effort into his work to get O's if they don't come naturally to him. He's not particularly responsible. And he tends to be a bit reckless. If you dare him to something- he has to do it. Walton is really concerned about other people's opinions of him. He can't stand it if (most) people think that he is a bad person or have a negative opinion of him. Even so, he has a habit of being a tad judgmental.
History: Walton Ernesto Dodd's birth mother was only fifteen when he was born. She knew that giving up her baby boy for adoption was the best thing for him- and when she met Eugenia and Percival Dodd via an adoption agency, she knew they were the perfect couple to raise her baby. He was given Ernesto as his middle name (a family name of his birth mother), and Eugenia and Percival to give him is first name. He was born loved- a luxury many babies are not afforded.
Growing up, Walton was loved by his parents. They had high expectations for their little boy, and encouraged him more in academics than in other areas. (Walton always has been, and always be an athlete at heart.) With a mother who taught English at a private institution, and a father who was a retired archaeologist turned professor- he was expected to work hard and be among the top in his class. Walton did not live up to that expectation- at least, not entirely. He was an above average student, but never among the top. He tried hard and did his homework, but his passions were elsewhere. He enjoyed playing sports- hoping to one day become a professional athlete.
His parents did their best to support his interests- going to his games, allowing him to participate, hoping that as he got older the urge and desire to neglect his studies to "play" would wear off. Unfortunately for Walton's parents, they were in for far worse than a son who preferred futball and rugby over coursework.
At the age of eleven, Walton received his Hogwarts letter. After much ado- including the usual "magic does not exist" arguments and then being introduced to the wizarding world by a Hogwarts ambassador- Walton was allowed to attend. Though his parents were disappointed that his regular schooling would not continue, they could not deny the fact that if he was indeed magical that he needed to learn how to be a wizard. Even now, they are in complete disbelief that it is all true and that their son attends a magically hidden institution in Scotland. But they made the decision when they adpted their son to love him- no matter what came, and to support him and be the best parents they could be. So despite their complete lack of understanding about magic, they celebrate the diversity of their child and wish him only the best.
Hogwarts was... a shock to Walton. His first year was incredibly difficult. Though he couldn't help but to see it as a grand adventure, fitting in was difficult. All of the things he had learned at school prior to Hogwarts had no use anymore. He felt like an idiot in classes, when he didn't know even the simplest answers that every kid from a magical family seemed to know. But Walton was determined to do a good job. He didn't want to let his parents down. And he'd always been a determined kid, and he wouldn't accept failure as an option. As he got older, Walton grew more confidence and began to love his life at Hogwarts. He learned the rules of quidditch as soon as he could- as it was the only wizarding sport available to him. He had his parents buy him a broom in his second year, and he still spends a lot of his spare time practicing flying out on the pitch. He continued to be an above average student, regularly scoring E's. The only classes he has consistently scored an O in are Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Walton is chivalrous. He's very loyal to his friends. And he has a lot of courage and nerve. He stands up for people who can't stand up for themselves. His overall attitude fits in best with Gryffindor. Especially his daring and occasional recklessness.
Writing Sample: Sum up your character in one paragraph: Walton is a nice guy. He likes quidditch. He does well in school- though he rarely works hard to achieve any O's. He's not the sort of student who thinks grades are the be-all end-all of life. Walt is the guy who sticks up for others and tries to be a good person and a good example.
