Alice tore up the steps, her tears streaming down her face. Lexi had to be here. She had to be! Alice needed her right now! She ran into the owlry, her cheeks bright red as her eyes, and tears slowly falling down her face. She sniffled and sniffled, as she spotted Lexi. Alice ran at Lexi, wrapping her arms around her best friend.

It felt like Hogwarts was pulling them apart. Like they were slowly breaking apart. And she didn't want that! She also didn't want Ignatious to be missing right now. "He's- He's gone, Lexi! Gone!" She yelled. Her arms wrapped around her friend tightly. She just wanted him to be safe.

Being a werewolf was so damn overrated, or at least that's what Lexi thought. She only had a day before the next full moon, and everything was getting to be sore. It was like her body just knew that she was going to be submitted to excruciating pain tomorrow night and she needed to be exposed to just a little bit to get her ready. Or something like that.

Stairs were awful. Especially the ones she had to walk up in order to get to the Owlery. She wanted to see Jethro, her little baby owl. He was so darn cute and she never got to spend time with him anymore. But her moment of peace was interrupted with a crying brunette.

Everything in her arms felt like they'd been set on fire as Alice threw her arms around her, she winced in pain before even attempting to move. ""He's- He's gone, Lexi! Gone!"

"Who's gone?" She groaned as she gently pried off Alice's arms. "No more hugs. Full moon tomorrow."

Alice looked at Lexi, sniffling. "Ignatious! I was in the common room, reading, he was playing with Annette's yarn, and I look up one minute, he's there, and the next," She combusted into tears throwing her arms around Lexi once more, not paying attention to the warning.

"I just, I just don't know what to do, Lexi. Everything seems so wrong without him. I- I- I feel like a part of me is gone!" She started crying again. "What if he's run away? What if he's hurt! What if he's- he's DEAD!" She shouted.

Lexi wished Alice wasn't such an emotional wreck. Maybe then the Hufflepuff would pay attention to warning's and things like DO NOT TOUCH ME OR I WILL SABOTAGE ALL OF YOUR GRADES! Okay, so maybe Lexi hadn't said it, but she wanted to.

"I'm sure he's just taking a freaking walk, Alice. Just calm down. And let go or I will have to physically harm you. And that won't be any fun, for either of us." Lexi claimed, taking deep breaths and trying to control the little rage monster that was trying to show itself.

"Please?" She threw in, just for laughs.

Alice let go, upset. "I'm sorry Lexi. I'm just really upset." She flung her arms over her chest. "He doesn't tend to go for walks. He is always just curled around in a chair." Alice said. She went to hug Lexi again,  but then didn't. She stopped. "I don't know where he could possibly be!"

She started sobbing into her hands. "I just need reassurance.

"Oh, Alice, I'm sorry." Lexi said, ignoring the pain and wrapping her friend in a warm hug. She felt really bad, knowing how much Alice loved her cat, she absolutely adored him. "I'll help you look for him," she added, earning a nip in the ear from Jet who decided to perch on her shoulder.

"You can come with me," she said to the owl, who obviously didn't know what she was talking about but must of understood her tone enough to settle onto her shoulder and tuck himself underneath her hair. "We'll look for him, and we'll find him, I promise." Lexi said, leading Alice down the stairs.

"He probably just got bored. Are you sure you checked over the entire dorm room? Twice? Cats like to hide you know," Lexi tried with a smile, hoping to get Alice in a somewhat better mood.

Alice nodded slowly as they walked down the steps. "I've checked four times. He's not there. He may have run off, or gotten eaten, or, or," She looked at her friend, concern in her eyes. "What if poor Ignatious is struggling for breath under the foot of a unicorn in the forbidden forest??" She broke into tears again.

"I love him, Lexi." She took a deep breath. "I just hope we find him soon."

"I don't think a unicorn would intentionally stampede a little cat, Alice." Lexi said, realizing too late that her words were really harsh and really not nice.

"Anyways," she said, guiding the timid brunette out of the Owlery, "I think we better give your room another look. He might just be curled up in a trunk or something."

Alice nodded as her friend lead her out of the owlry. "I don't want him to be dead, Lexi. Really. He's just a kitten!" Alice started to cry once more. It had been a long day for Alice. Lots of crying as well. Maybe he was fine. Maybe he was just asleep on her bed. But she had already looked there! She had! He wasn't there!

Alice and Lexi walked slowly down the corridors.

"He's not dead alright! Ow!" She exclaimed, the last bit for the not-affectionate nip she had received from little Jethro. "Honestly Alice, he's going to be alright!"

Lexi shook her head, she didn't know what to do with Alice when the Puffle got so distraught. "Let's just take a few deep breath's alright... In and out. In with the good air and out with the bad, like your Mom would always tell you. Er, us. Okay, it was me she was yelling at that time."

Alice smiled a little at her joke, and closed her eyes. Alice cleared her mind of everything, and took three deep breaths. In and out. In and out. In and out. She opened her eyes, and felt a little better. Even a little smile escaped from her. Everything felt like it'd be alright. "Okay, Lexi. Let's go look. We'll go slowly, and we'll take our time, and we won't jump to conclusions." She admitted.

Alice smiled. "Everything is going to be fine. Right?"

"There we go, you're finally listening to me." Lexi said with a smile, happy that Alice had calmed down enough to think rationally. Their shoes clicked softly on the floor below and it was the only sound for a while in the mostly empty hallway.

"So," Lexi said nonchalantly, "You're still up for taking notes for me in class tomorrow?" She asked. Of course Alice would still be up for it, she'd done it for the past few full moons when Lexi was out of commission, and the notes were always so much neater and so much better than Lexi's.

Alice smiled. "You know I'll be up for it. I love taking notes." She admitted, smiling. Alice listened to the heels click, and watched her friend smile. Oh, how she wished her friend could not be scarred for life. How she wished that Lexi could be okay. But no. They were going to have to live with this.

"I bet he's just in Annette's yarn." Even though I already checked there.

"He probably pulled yarn out of Annette's basket and piled it in a corner somewhere! Maybe he's making a nest!" Lexi said before pausing in thought, "Oh wait, he's a cat. Not an owl. Sorry, I forgot."

"Anyways, we'll probably find him waiting for us at the door or something, that's how cats work. Disappear one minute and show up in a random place the next."
