Jack began to settle into Hufflepuff. He got to know a few of the people, mostly first years, and a handful of older students. Whenever he was in the Common Room talking to some of his friends he noticed that occasionally there was an older student there. They guy didn't seem alone because he would sometimes be with people but occasionally he seemed...shy. Jack began to ask his friends about the student and they said they have no idea except for that he is a 6th year. Jack was siting in the Common Room alone before dinner because he sometimes would take a few minutes to himself, taking in everything from the day or sometimes just needing a quick rest from the hustle and bustle of classes. He began to stare at one of the plants. Its leaves danced around every so often but the stem was motionless. After a few minutes the plant stopped moving and stiffened. Jack began to wonder why. He turned and saw the student closing the door. Jack, being curious and slightly impulsive shot up and spoke," Hi I'm Jack. What are you doing here? I'm usually alone around this time." There was an awkward pause until the older kid spoke.

Zel was, as usual, struggling through his astronomy textbooks. The only reason he was passing the class was because of the amount of time he spent studying. Sometimes he hated it, but in the end he was fascinated enough by astronomy to want to go to class. Usually. When Professor Trishna asked the hard questions, Zel felt like he was barely able to keep up with the rest of the class. He considered asking for a tutor, but at the same time he was nervous about looking stupid in front of everyone else. He was a creepy albino werewolf; he didn’t need to be dumb on top of that.  He set his book down—and then he heard a voice.

He glanced at the first year and smiled. “Hello Jack.” He said softly, “I’m Zel.” He was the prefect, so a few students knew his name without him knowing theirs—but his name was just unusual enough to be difficult to remember, “I’m just studying.” He replied. First years were often easier for Zel to talk to—especially the boys. He had two little brothers about their age who would be coming into Hogwarts the next year. Granted, most of these first year boys were shorter than his brothers, but everybody in his family was absurdly tall. 

“What are you doing?”

Nancy floated through the walls, sliding through the walls, shooing the mice that nibbled at wood. She was going to help out a few firsties with their homework, one of her favorite things to do. Anything that had to do with the benefit with Hufflepuff, she would gladly do.

The boy prefect, Zel, and a small first year, John Windell were alone in the common room. "Hello boys" Nancy said. It was hard to take her seriously as a ghost when she was trapped in the body of a 14 year old girl instead of the 74 years she had rightfully spent on this planet. "What is going on?"

Jack was just about to offer the 6th year some candy when a ghost appeared. Jack jumped , not usually seeing ghost around, but then realized she was friendly. "Well i was about to offer Zel a Nosebleed Nougat." They both looked at him. Jack quickly replied " I like the taste of them don't worry i have the antidote also." Jack once tried Weasley's Skiving Snacks when he was little. He knew what each one did but didn't use them to get out of classes like most kids. He loved the taste of them. Carmel, Chocolate,Blueberry, etc. all the flavors tasted so good. And he also enjoyed the tingling when the "sickness" began and disappeared. " He turned from the ghost back to Zel. "Want to try one?"

Zel smiled at the Hufflepuff ghost nervously. “H-hello Nancy.” He greeted, though his anxiety was definitely not alleviated by Jack admitting that he was going to offer him a nosebleed nougat. Who in their right mind would offer someone something to make their nose bleed? Yes, maybe if it was a prank—but no delicious flavor was worth a nosebleed, even if you ate the antidote.  Zel looked at Jack as if the first year had, well, tried to give him a nosebleed.  “I’ve had them before.” He said, shocked. Garrett had given him one once. It was awful. “No thank you.” He looked at Jack warily, unsure if he was serious about them tasting good and was just weird, or if he just wanted to watch people suffer. Which was also weird.

"Suit yourself" Jack replied. He poped 1 in his mouth then the other one right after he swallowed the first. He sighed at the Carmel taste sliding down his throat shortly followed by blackberry. Due to taking the antidote so soon he only had a slight nose bleed, one little drop emitted from his nose and he quickly cleaned it up using one of his rags nearby. He turned his direction back to the ghost. " So your name is Nancy? That's a nice name, my old muggle teacher  is named that."

Zel continued to stare at Jack.

Did he just willingly eat one?

He shuddered when he saw him wipe some blood off his nose. This kid had issues. He seemed nice enough, but weird. Sometimes weird kids had trouble making friends, so Zel tried to hide the fact that he was deeply disturbed by this. Yes, he barely bled—but was it really worth it? Really? What if the antidote didn’t work someday? That’d be just awful. “D-do you offer nosebleed nougats to everybody?” He was what, eleven? Twelve? Did his parents know that he was buying them for their taste?

"I don't usually because then people begin to freak out." He knew that from the reaction from Zel he thought that Jack was off his rocker. Jack knew that he was different, but he wasn't that different. "My parents gave me a few boxes before I left and told me to never sell them." He knew his parents would ground him if he did that. '" I guess i should only offer them to first years." He quickly chuckled and ran into the boys dorm to pack the candy away. He scurried back and began to feel a little awkward. " I think it's almost dinner time, we should uh head down soon." Jack clearly began to reconsider eating the candies or even bringing them out.

"You know I tried to tell those Weasly brothers to stop there crazy inventing, but no one ever listens to the ghost. I was dead a year when the Chamber of Secrets was opened the first time, and the second time, those Slytherins and Gryffindors never listen to anyone!" Nancy floated down so just her torso stuck through the floor. "I am glad those nougat-things were not around when I went to Hogwarts."

Oh how the times have changed. "The First the Weasly's were fine, but when Fred and George showed up for their first year, everything went down hill. All the other houses think they can walk all over us, but, Hufflepuff is the best, do you not think?" She asked the prefect and the first year.

"Well we are sorted into Hufflepuff for being nice." Jack knew that most Hufflepuff's were not as competitive as others and were usually the more sympathetic bunch. "I guess" answering the last question. He's had encounters with others and usually they treat him and other Hufflepuff's like a sad puppy. They either kick it or cuddle it. Jack felt as though this converstation was a little awkward on his answer so he  asked,"Zel what do you think?"
