Rows of desks were so impractical, making her so much more supreme over everyone else. This way, everyone was equal, which was exactly what she wanted to portray. Althea always saw school as so unfair. So, when she had the power to change that, she did!Althea tucked the large stuffed turtle under her arm, crossing her legs. Small class this period. Only a few students. That wouldn't matter though. Everything would be just fine. If fact, if anything, they would be closer than the massive 6th year class that she had last period. "Good Morning!" She said to the first student who entered. It was going to be a good year. She could feel it in her bones. 1. It was too broad, too bright to be considered anything innocent, but that was Connor Todd for you. Besides, he liked Muggle Studies –or had, when Professor Frasier was still around – but Professor Santucci seemed she’d be okay, nothing scary old like Ol’ Stormface was, or Austerlitz had been. “Y’ look ruddy fit today, Miss, consider me blinded, blinded-”And then he was tossing his stuff onto Cyrihae’s table with a noisy, graceless thump… only to repeat the brief cacophony when he plopped into the seat beside her with an equal, cheerful lack of care. She wasn't Ronni, Ny, or Lua, but, eh; she would do.He took a moment to rummage around in his bag, though – pull out a couple sheets of wrinkled parchment, then an inkwell, and then a rather ratty-looking quill, which he shoved into the well without further thought – before looking up from his things to acknowledge her. “Trishna,” he greeted breezily, his gaze skimming her face. “Din’t see ya there.”He leaned forward into his chair, nearly folding over the table –until the next table over was well within sight. “Ladies,” he purred, a sly look crossing his features, and he shot Zoe and Winnie a mischievous grin. [4th years] Reply #6 on September 24, 2012, 06:16:50 PM Peppy as ever. Zoe couldn't help but find this woman the slightest bit irritating from the get-go. Winnie seemed to get along fine with her, which wasn't a surprise, as the Ravenclaw was sure the two had a lot in common. Zoe nodded a good morning to Cy when she entered and gave Connor an amused look upon his address of the three female students. For the love of Merlin, everything this professor said seemed do have an exclamation point on it. Being a tutor for Winnie so long had made this more bearable, thank goodness. Zoe just sat there, paying attention to Professor Santucci, a simple and slight faked smile on her face. Well, peppy was okay, the girl just hoped the professor wasn't flighty or absent-minded. Those were the hardest to learn from.It was strange this woman went to a muggle college after Hogwarts. Was that even possible? Did colleges need grades from previous schools, muggle schools? Perhaps this woman was like Sasha, working hard to cover both magic and non-magic. In that case, Professor Santucci deserved more respect. Sasha, just from what she saw in the common room, was pretty much always doing homework or studying.Sitting close to the professor, Zoe figured she'd go first. "My name is Zoe Torret. My parents are both magic, but I do live in a non-magic folk village, and my father is a muggleborn. I've been surrounded by non-magic folk for all of my earlier years, even had a few friends. I think I'd like to learn more about science. Maybe just some basics, or some uses of it." As they could obviously cover nothing complex. Skip to next post Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! "I've never really lived among muggles- but I've always wanted to! My mum, she used to work for the Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee, but now that there is a muggle relations office at the ministry, she works for them. She has tuaght me a lot about muggles and I find them all so fascinating.""I want to learn all that I can," Winifred said. "I want to grow up and work the Muggle Affairs office- if it's still around when I graduate." It was really the only thing she would probably end up qualified to do."I want to learn how to properly dress like a muggle, though," Winnie said. "My mum gave me some muggle clothes, but they're really old. I want to learn how muggles dress now. So that if I go explore the muggle world, I fit in! Do we get to take a field trip to the muggle world?" Winnie asked, suddenly excited at the prospect. "Oh! Wouldn't that be fun!" Skip to next post Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #8 on September 24, 2012, 11:05:01 PM Cyhirae blinked slowly, the new professor certainly was perky though Winnie, Cy smiled to herself, was more than a match. Though the mention of her having actually lived in the muggle world was promising, for once she might not have to explain everything in detail about her home life."I'm Cyhirae Trishna. Both of my parents are wizards, but I have a muggle grandfather and my father worked for Cambridge in their Astronomy department as a professor and researcher before taking up the position as Hogwarts' Astronomy professor last year. I basically grew up as a muggle cause Dad wouldn't allow magic in the house because it would fry his computer and our other electronics. And I still live like a muggle during the summer months too." Here she stopped talking, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to admit that she was taking this class because it was easy and she wanted to be with her friends only, not out of any real interest in the subject. Skip to next post Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #9 on September 28, 2012, 07:47:03 PM "Science! That's a very good idea! I think that'd be interesting! Well! I will incorporate that with my plans!" She smiled. The whole point of this exercise was really to get more ideas for what to teach for the year. She wanted to make it as interesting and as fun as possible. When Winifred spoke up, Althea smiled. She saw a bit of herself in the girl. She had a passion and spunk, which Althea respected. "Actually, I was going to hold this for later, but I am going to be speaking with the Headmistress about that exactly! We'd take a train from Hogsmede to London, and blend in with the muggles! I think it'd be interesting to dress and speak and act just like muggles!" She waved it away. "Though that is for later conversation! Don't you worry though! I'll do everything in my power to get that done!" Cyhirae spoke up mentioning that she was primarily muggle at home. And Althea understood why some students took this class. Some may mistake it for an 'Easy O' as they call it. Althea realized this, and had no intention of making the study any harder for them; if they had an advantage, well, good for them! It probably would be an easy course, and Althea wasn't going to make it that much harder. She was always thankful for easy classes in Hogwarts, as they left room and time to focus on the other subjects. She wanted this to be a more fun class rather than a nose-to-the-grind-if-you-fail-you'll-become-a-troll kind of class."Excellent." She said. Althea smiled, before reaching next to her for her wand, but finding an empty place. She then looked down, feeling her chair for the wand. "Oh, continue on. And uh, if anyone happens to see my wand, feel free to let me know!"[1] She smiled. After stopping her use of magic for 4 years, she had never really become totally dependent on her wand. She'd use it when she could find it, and when she didn't, she'd do things manually. 1. Feel free to find the wand, or not. Anything goes! Skip to next post Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #10 on September 28, 2012, 08:03:25 PM At least her idea seemed to be liked. Maybe they could even cover some of the biology stuff that Rebecca mentioned, the kind that caused Zoe to quickly change the subject. Winnie's idea seemed to be praised as well, but Zoe felt it nothing new. The girl knew very well how to blend in and she had walked the streets of London many times. Oh well. The mention of a lost wand caused Zoe to draw her own. Pointing it at her desk, she muttered, "Accio Wand of Althea." It took a few seconds, but a wand rose, tipping a small stuffed turtle that in turn toppled a clock. "Oops!" Zoe exclaimed as she watched a few more items on her professor's crowded desk shifted in a domino effect. A clock smashed to the stone floor "Didn't mean to do that!" the Ravenclaw apologized as she caught the wand in one hand. Her own wand was pointed at the clock. "Reparo." The clock repaired itself. "Here." She rose from her seat to hand off the wand, before quickly returning. From her seat Zoe hastily performed a levitation charm to put the clock back onto the desk. "Sorry again about that." The Ravenclaw humbly sat back in her chair. Skip to next post Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #11 on September 29, 2012, 11:58:43 PM Despite the unmistakeable noise of a clock’s innards being violently introduced to the hardness of the floor, Connor hadn’t flinched at all; instead, he slowly blinked once – twice – then a third time, to better rouse himself from the stupor he’d so quickly fallen into (a hazy dream involving giggles and sound and bouncing things, if you must know), and offered the professor a dopey grin. It was either that, or collapse into a helpless mess of giggles.Because while he didn’t really have anything against them per se (…except, okay, being monumentally boring, but he was a fourteen-year-old boy with an attention span of a gnat, okay—that practically made ‘im a connoisseur of entertainment), he just couldn’t find it in himself to appreciate the girls for their… them-ness. If he spent even a second recalled the last twenty of his life, he’d probably topple out of his chair with tears streaming from his eyes.Ergo, “ ‘M Connor,” was toothily supplied, accompanied by the brightest, most harmless smile he could muster short of flat-out batting his eyes. A halo practically manifested over his head. “Connor Todd. Me dad’s mum’s a Muggle, an’ I live in a Muggle town an’ went t’ a Muggle school b’fore comin’ here. Have Muggle friends, too,” he added, scrunching his nose up in thought as he idly scratched at his head. “ ‘S kinda hard not to, though, unless yer a hermit or summat. Our town’s not verra big, see? An’ Granny Nora’s got no patience fer family who think they’re better ‘n Muggles—there’s too much of ‘em in us, she said.”And then she’d said some choice words about purist views, but even Connor wasn’t dumb enough to repeat that.“I take Muggle Studies ‘cos I like it,” he informed Althea matter-of-factly, the admission passing his lips as easy as breathing –the grin on his face just as easy. “Needin’ is jus’… happenstance, yeah. I don’t really give a troll about fancy-schmancy unis they’ve got, or what hellish systems they've got fer figurin’ out anythin’, but th’ stuff ‘bout moo-vees-” his lips puckered cheekily, like a fish, “-or cars.”In true Connor form, the boy waggled his brows his professor, that famous, infectious smirk in place, a knobby elbow propped on the table—a wrist twisting almost lewdly ‘n all. “Vroom vroom, y’ ken?” ‘Cos with toys like those, who cared about science? But Zoe repaired it, and beautifully too. She'd have to mention that to Gale next time she saw him. "No, no, just fine, dear. Accidents happen." Althea was brought back her wand. "Thank you." Althea felt generous. "Alright. Let's do 2 points to Ravenclaw. Ooh! That's nice to say! But, now I want the Hufflepuffs to get something." Althea put on a little face. "You didn't see me do this, but, one point to Hufflepuff." Althea smiled."I like things fair. So, Connor, interesting. Sounds great. We may cover movies and cars. In fact, I want to cover all of this!" She clapped her hands together. Thank you for helping me with the ideas! You are great." She said towards the whole class. Althea stood up, and walked towards the board. "These are our rules. I like 2 things. Well, I like a lot of things. But two main points. I like respect, and I like fairness. If you think something is not fair, let me know." She smiled and sat back down."So, I actually have to teach. We'll learn about the beginning of humans. Because as different as muggles are against wizards, we all started the same way. So, does anyone know where the first humans started?" She smiled. "Oh, don't raise your hands. We're all equal here." Half of their interactions seemed to consist of him conveying such thoughts, and her kicking him, or hexing him. Which never seemed to deter him at all. She crossed her arms irritatedly before realizing what that emphasized and settled for idly tapping on her parchment with her quill.Though Cy didn't really know what to think of the new professor. She was perky, way to perky for the mood Cy now found herself in. Though Professor Santucci was eager, and she seemed competent so that was a plus. 'She's certainly better than pervious professors we've had." Cy thought, reflecting back on some of the weirdo's who'd called themselves professors previously. 'At least she's sober and not one step away from living in a padded room.'"So, I actually have to teach. We'll learn about the beginning of humans. Because as different as muggles are against wizards, we all started the same way. So, does anyone know where the first humans started?" That was something Cyhirae defiantly knew. 'Thank god for BBC documentaries!' "Humans evolved from primates in central Africa." Cy called out, resisting the well trained urge to raise her hand. "It took millions of years for our ape ancestors to change into modern humans. And thousands of years for primitive humans to leave Africa and populate the rest of the globe." For a while, they kind of lived wherever they found food, until they exhausted their food supply there, and moved to a different place.""Now, these Nomads finally found a place to settle down in a place called, what." Winnie seemed to get along fine with her, which wasn't a surprise, as the Ravenclaw was sure the two had a lot in common. Skip to next post
Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #7 on September 24, 2012, 06:40:16 PM "I'm Winifred, but I think everyone knows that," the Hufflepuff said with cheer. "Oh! Wouldn't that be fun!" Skip to next post
Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! Skip to next post
Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! Skip to next post
Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #12 on October 04, 2012, 07:57:00 PM As her clock came crashing down, she winced. She liked that one. We're all equal here." Skip to next post
Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #13 on October 05, 2012, 12:18:29 AM Cyhirae frowned at her unwelcome seatmate, she just knew he was thinking bad things, perverted things. It was Conner Todd after all. Half of their interactions seemed to consist of him conveying such thoughts, and her kicking him, or hexing him. And thousands of years for primitive humans to leave Africa and populate the rest of the globe." Skip to next post
Re: (December 2) A Fresh new start! [4th years] Reply #14 on October 13, 2012, 07:27:05 PM Althea smiled at Cyhirae. "Correct. Exellent response, Miss Trishina. three points to ravenclaw." Althea stood up, and rested her arms on the back of her chair. "Alright. So, we've got primates, who evolved into people. Good. For a while, they kind of lived wherever they found food, until they exhausted their food supply there, and moved to a different place.""Now, these Nomads finally found a place to settle down in a place called, what." Althea smiled at her class. "Alright, I'll give you a hint. "Mes, Meso, Mesopot, Mesopotami, okay. That's all the hint I'll give you. Where did a group of nomads settle down, creating the first civilization?" Skip to next post
