Relaxing by the Lake (Lydian, Closed) on September 21, 2012, 01:56:31 PM Josh had been in the library, working away feverishly at his Ancestry Project for COMC. He had been working on it on and off ever since it was set, partially due to the fact it was such a large project, considering he had been ambitious enough to choose Welsh green dragons as the magical creature to do the project on. His thinking was that pulling off a difficult project would be likely to get him a far better grade than a simpler one. Needless to say, though, it required far more work. However, he could not stay cooped up in the library any longer, so he gathered up the books he needed and headed out to the lake, thankful he had thought to check the books out of the library a couple of days before.Reaching the lake, he flopped down by a tree not too far from the lakeshore.Getting his book sout again, he was soon immersed once more in his project. She thought to herself about which work to complete and focus on and choose her first assignment for magical creatures as she was focussing on the magical Hippogriff. She placed all of the need resourses inside a small shoulder bag before heading outside.Once outside she tried to think of all the quiet places in the grounds of Hogwarts and one place in particular took her fancy. The Black Lake. It was a quiet spot and rather calming for her as well. She headed towards the lake and before long arrived noticing there was another student there, a gryffindor whom happened to be the same age as herself Joshua. She smiled warmly at him in greeting before taking a seat on the grass. "Hi. Lydian, right? You're in my year." Josh asked her, he didn't know her too well, since she had transferred in this year. Josh didn't know where she had transferred from, but had his suspicions. Grabbing his project, he added a few lines on the evolution of the wings of the Welsh green. "Hey, Yeah i'm Lydia. You're Joshua aren't you?" She replied in question as she began getting her work from within her bag. On the grass ahead of her she placed the books as well as her quill and gryffindor notebook. She opened the book to begin researching Unicorns as she awaited his responce. Josh asked, his expression clear he was simply curious. Given that he could at least recognize the faces of every Gryffindor, even if he couldn't always remember their names, he was fairly sure Lydia was new, but he had been wrong before. He was getting curious about what Lydia was researching, as well, and well, his animagus form could be appropriate at times. He seemed fairly interested in her which was bizarre. She smiled warmly at him. "Yeah i am. I am from America originally yourself?" she replied in curiosity as she began to write her assignment. It can't have been easy moving over here. Anyway, I'm from England, not far from London actually." Josh said, really getting curious now. How come Lydia had left the US, which had several schools, the most famous being Salem. It wasn't as if there was truly a difference in teaching quality between the major schools of magic, although Josh always believed Hogwarts was the best. "What're you working on, anyway?" Josh asked, wondering if he could help. Skip to next post Re: Relaxing by the Lake (Lydian, Closed) Reply #7 on September 21, 2012, 08:52:06 PM Lydian smiled as the boy kept the questions flowing. She wasnt used to talking to people let alone people asking her questions about herself and her studies. But it wasnt like she minded. "I'm from north Carolina and i had no choice to leave my father got a job over here so my whole family moved to England not that i miss America anyway." she laughed slightly amused and flirtasiously. "I am working on my magical creatures assignment and yourself?" she asked with a curious tone. Most people missed their homeland when they had to leave. "Same. Ancestry project? I'm doing mine on Welsh Greens. Should get me good marks, but it's a pain to do." Josh said "There isn't much about them, and what there is can be difficult to find." Josh said. "What's yours on anyway?" Josh asked, curious. He couldnt help but want to know more about the new Gryffindor, telling himself it was simple curiosity. "I didn't really have enough time to get anything to like about america, when i wasn't in school i would be working to earn money to keep my families income up as much as i could. So i never really had time to meet anybody and the people i did meet thought i was a bit of a freak because obviously they don't know about the wizarding world. My parents are Muggles you see. And the welsh green hard creature to research indeed i decided the Hippogriff would be best for myself." She smiled warmly. I would have thought you would have met people there." Josh said, somewhat surprised. He had only met kids from Salem Institute, but they seemed friendly enough,"Yeah, it's hard to do, but if I manage it..." Josh said, smiling, the Hippogriff was a good choice, since there was quite a bit more material available than for his choice, with less obscure books to read as well. "I was alot younger then eleven when i moved to England. I was always on the move though, so never really had a permanent home till i came here to Hogwarts. But i am sure i will enjoy what time i have here." She began reading so more information about her magical before noticing a chapter on the Welsh Green. "Theres a chapter in here about the Welsh green if you want to have a look" She asked him warmly. Why were your parents always on the move, or can't you tell me?" Josh asked, his expression curious. While he had heard rumors of students that were Travelers, he didn't think it was the case here. Which made it especially interesting to hear, though Josh didn't want to pry. "There's a chapter on the Welsh Green? Can i see it please?" Josh asked, looking excited. He didn't need much to finish his essay, and a whole chapter on the Welsh Green might allow him to finish it. She heard in his voice that he seemed unsure about how he was seeming to her and may have thought she felt uncomfartable talking about her family and personal life though in theory she didn't seem to bothered. "My father works building ships so we never had a perminant location. On minute we would be in one please then the opposite side of the country. I think the longest time we were located in one place was about 18 months." She smiled. At this rate, he'd be finished soon. "I wouldn't have thought shipbuilding moved around that much. Aren't most ships built in drydock these days in the Muggle world?" Josh asked, he admittedly only really knew anything about the largest ships, since he didn't pay much attention to things like ships. Skip to next post
